“I was going to perform at the City Amphitheater this Saturday. Would you want to come?”
Kyungsoo looked up at Kai and wished he hadn’t. There was something about those hazel eyes that made him want to do something dangerous. Like Kai himself, his brain said. Kyungsoo would have slapped his brain if he could.
And was he asking him out to his performance?! No, that couldn’t be possible. He should have invited Suga and Hoseok too.
“Um, sure, I’ll come,” Kyungsoo replied, “And, um, have you asked others?”
“Not really. I was thinking I’d give you about 5-8 tickets and you can invite whoever you’d like.”
Kyungsoo sighed. See.
“Alrighty, I’ll get some people along.”
“Awesome, I’ll see you then.” Kai smiled brightly at Kyungsoo and he wanted to punch something just to get over the warmth that flooded his chest.
“Yep, see you, Kai.”
“Oh, and are you going home too?”
Kyungsoo nodded. In his mind, he thought, when will this conversation end so I can go back to feeling nothing?
“Well, let me drop you then.”
Aish, why. But in his heart, or at least in the deep, dark pit where Do Kyungsoo’s heart used to be, he knew he didn’t want to miss out on some more time with Kai. WHY THOUGH. WHY.
He also didn’t want to walk if he could avoid it. This laziness, it’s all a result of hanging out with that brat Suga!
“Well, if it’s no trouble…”
“Of course not! Also, I offered, and I wouldn’t have if I had trouble with it. Let’s go.”
Kyungsoo followed Kai out their makeshift studio and into the bright sunlight. Squinting, he walked towards Kai’s Audi, parked sleekly next to the music store which now looked like a shack next to the car’s glossy, silver, stylish design.
“Nice car,” Kyungsoo muttered as he climbed into the seat.
Kai smiled. “Thank you. I love my baby.”
“Oh my god, you call your car your baby.”
“Kyungsoo-ah,” Kai pouted playfully, “it’s the only thing I have. I can’t help but be affectionate!”
Kyungsoo laughed. “Okay, so no girlfriend?” And then he wanted to evaporate right then and there.
Kai’s face lost some of his playfulness and he turned around and started the engine. Reversing out the parking lot, he avoided Kyungsoo’s gaze as he said softly, “…no. No one. I survive alone, Kyungsoo.”
Not knowing how to respond to the sudden turn of events into emo territory, Kyungsoo decided to spend the rest of the ride looking out the window, with occasional glances he couldn’t help, towards the brooding guy next to him.

“Jackie! I have something fun for you in your boring life!”
Jackie looked up from her homework, her eyes squinty after looking at Jimin’s small handwriting for so long.
“Kyungsoo, I have to help Jimin with some notes…”
“He’s joining us too!”
“Us?”
“Hoseok, Suga, Jimin, and I. And potentially you.”
“Even though your kindness freaks me out a bit, I do need to work on this…”
“Jackie! Come on! When have I ever given you a surprise like this?”
“Dude, what if it ?”
Kyungsoo just stared. I am supposed to be the mean but still funny one.
“Jackie-ah! It won’t . The performer is supposed to be reeeeally good.” And on cue, Kyungsoo’s cheeks were on fire.
“Ooo, so it’s a performance! Of what?”
“That’s all you’ll get from me. And I know in your head you are laughing evilly and thinking you can just ask Jimin but guess what he doesn’t know what it is either.” And adding a white lie Kyungsoo said, “Oh and Suga and Hoseok are in the dark too.”
Jackie sighed. “Seriously Kyungsoo…”
“Jackie! You’re always hiding out in your room or in the café- in both cases overworking yourself. Usually I don’t care about people but god help me because I can’t help but worry about you. You’re gonna die young and your cats are gonna eat your face.”
“Alright, you’re just exaggerating now…”
“No, I am not. Anyway, Jimin will pick us up at 6:30 pm. Be there or I’ll drag you out in your Donald Duck pajamas.” Jimin pointedly looked at Jackie’s current outfit, and ducking a pillow thrown his way, he left the room, chuckling.

Jackie was looking through her closet when a knock pulled her out of her thoughts.
“Come in!” she called out, and a smiling Jimin walked in.
“Jackie,” he said, pulling her into a hug. “Thanks for helping with the notes earlier.”
“Of course, it was no big deal.”
“Knowing you, you probably enjoyed it,” Jimin teased winking.
Jackie just grinned in response, not denying it.
“Trying to decide what to wear?” Jimin asked, standing behind Jackie and putting his chin on her shoulder.
“Yeah, gotta maintain my fashionable image, you know.”
“Mmhmm,” Jimin hummed, “the trendsetter of Donald Duck pajamas does need to maintain her image…”
Jackie whacked him playfully and pulled out a red dress. “What do you think?”
“I can’t imagine you in something so fancy. Go try it on?”
Jackie nodded, and walked into the bathroom. A few minutes later she walked out, the red silk hugging her figure. It really brought out her toffee skin, and showed how fit she was as it enhanced her figure. For Jackie, it was nicer and more feminine than anything she had ever worn before, and she stood there shyly, running her hands over the fabric. Her brother’s girlfriend, or Kyungsoo’s mom, was the one who gifted it to her. You need something killer like this in your wardrobe, she had said.
Jimin on the other hand didn’t even realize his jaw was on the floor.
“Wo-ow… Jackie. WOW.”
“Okay, whatever, Jimin,” Jackie answered, blushing.
“Accept it Jackie, you look smoking hot.” And then Jimin’s face was as red as Jackie’s dress.
Jackie looked up, surprised and bashful. “Um… thank you…?”
Jimin nodded in response, not wanting to blurt out anything else.
“I’ll wait for you outside,” he muttered and began to shuffle away.
“Jimin?” Jackie called out, unable to stop grinning.
“Mmhmm?”
“Thanks for helping me pick out the dress…”
“There was no competition,” Jimin replied, his eyes taking in Jackie again, and then blushing even harder he almost ran out the room.
