Third person POV

[12 august, 2010]

Reluctant to stay home, Yoseob head out of the dorm. Alone.

 

He strolled down the streets with his hood over his head and hands in his pockets. He passed the café. It reminded him of the times when IU and him had ice-cream together. He remembered how cute and contented she was eating it. He reached the Chinese restaurant at the end of the street and it reminded him of the ‘Black Day’ that he and IU spent together. He crossed the road and started jogging along the Han river. It reminded him of the day when IU came over for him and he was frantically running around in search of her. He sat down on the bench and it reminded him of how shy IU was when they were watching ‘When In Rome’ together on this exact same bench a few months ago.

 

Yoseob held his head in his hands and groaned. He can’t run away from it. He was missing her so badly, a fact he could no longer deny, and everything in his surrounding wasn’t giving him a break – they all simply reminded him of IU. He looked up at the sky while he rested his head on the back of the bench.

 

‘The dark clouds… But I don’t want to head home…’

 

“Shindangdong dukbokki!” He snapped his finger with a smile after stoning for 15 minutes as he thought of what to do next.

 

He skipped happily to the bus stop. While waiting for the bus to arrive, he was hesitating if he should ask IU along or not. Just when he was about to type his text, the bus arrived. He changed his mind and concluded that he probably shouldn’t disturb her busy schedule. He don’t want to cause any disturbance to IU or worst still, make her think that he’s annoying. He found an empty seat and sat down. Looking out of the window, he was reminded of the day when both IU and him travelling to Shindangdong for dukbokki…

 

Flashback

“I’m sorry, Ji Eun-ah. Oppa don’t own a car and we have to take public transport..” Yoseob lowered his head and said sadly.

“It’s okay, oppa. I haven’t taken public transport in a long long time. I like it! Really!” She re-assured him, still keeping the sweet smile on her face no matter what.

“I couldn’t look at the street lights and how beautiful Seoul was in my van, but I can see everything here.. Isn’t it amazing?” She said and smiled contentedly.

“It’s our stop!” They alighted as soon as the bus halted to a stop.

Flashback end

 

Just then, he felt someone sit next to him. That someone covered his eyes with her hands.

 

‘What small and smooth hands…’ He thought to himself quietly.

 

“Guess who?”

 

‘Wait. This voice is…’ He turned and stared in shock.

 

“Oppa, I missed you!” The girl smiled brightly at him and waved.

“OMO! Ji Eun-ie!? Don’t you have schedules today?” He asked, still in a state of daze.

“You’re not dreaming, it’s meeeeee!” IU chirped happily. “But oppa, are you emo-ing?”

 

‘Yes, I’m emo-ing because of you…’ He wanted to say, but the words stayed in his head instead.

 

“Why are you not speaking, oppa? Are you alright?” IU asked worriedly. 

“Yeah, of course” Yoseob gave IU a slight grin to assure her. “But why are you here?”

“My only schedule for today ended early and I craved for dukbokki. I was about to call you when TA-DA! I saw you sitting here!” She smiled broadly.

“Ji Eun-ah, oppa’s having a headache… Can you lend me your shoulders for a while?” Yoseob asked hopefully.

“Sure! But I hope you don’t crush it!” She stuck out her tongue.

“Why are you so cheeky today?” Yoseob pinched IU’s cheeks while resting his head on her shoulders.

“It hurts, oppa!” She pouted and looked out of the window.

“Oh what should we do? It’s raining!” She exclaimed while pointing at the water droplets on the window.

“Worry about this later… My headache…” Yoseob groaned.

“Let me help you!” IU placed her hands on Yoseob’s temples and massaged them skillfully.

“Feeling better?”

“Yeah, a little. Thanks, Ji Eun-ah~” Yoseob said weakly as he closed his eyes.

‘What should we do? There’s still a small walking distance to the shop… What to do?’ IU asked herself repeatedly while Yoseob fell into a slumber. She was too focused in thinking and didn’t realise that they already missed their stop.

 

“I don’t think I’ve seen this place before…” IU was confused.

 

The surrounding was unfamiliar to her and most of the passengers had already gotten off the bus, leaving only Yoseob, her and a few other students. Realization then dawned upon her that they might have missed their stop.

 

“Oppa… Oppa… You should wake up now. I’m not sure but I’m guessing we’ve missed our stop” IU said gently into Yoseob’s ears while nudging him.

 

His eyelids fluttered open and he stared to his left, then to his right.

 

“Where are we?” He asked sleepily while rubbing his blurry eyes.

“We missed the stop?”

“What??? Let’s get down now! Hurry! Ji Eun-ah!” Yoseob said in a rush.

 

Both of them scrambled down the bus and looked at the directory map.

 

“Thank god we missed only two stops!” Yoseob heaved a sigh of relief.

“It’s raining… There’s no way to walk there by foot now!” IU pouted and flailed her arms in dismay.

“Not when you’re with Seobbie oppa”  Yoseob winked and pulled her nearer to him.

“Oppa! What are you…”

“Shh… Let’s go already, shall we?” IU nodded shyly.

 

Yoseob’s POV

 

I took off my jacket and used it as a shelter for the both of us.

 

“Ji Eun-ah, just follow and trust oppa, alright?” I gave her an assuring smile before leaving the bus stop.

“Am I that, that easy? I’m the sunbae!” Ji Eun replied. “Do you still remember?”

“Of course. I remember it as though it’s only yesterday.” I gave a small laugh. “On the count of three. 1-2-”

“3! Oppa, hurry!”

 

Although it wasn’t a short distance, I didn’t feel tired from the running. It wasn’t a long distance either, but I felt blissful for that short while. I like her being so close to me, I can feel her warmth in the cold environment. It’s like we can forget about the world temporarily and there’s only the both of us. I wished so much that she felt the same way as I do. But I knew it wasn’t possible. I’m just another one out of a million idol while she’s a mainstream singer, an outstanding one.

 

Out of the blue, there was a loud thunder.

 

“Ahhhhhhhh! Oppaaaaaa!” Ji Eun shouted loudly and slapped her arms on my waist.

“It’s okay… We’re reaching in a minute. Just hold on a bit, Ji Eun-ah” I comforted her.

 

Like any other girls, she’s afraid of thunder too (:

 

“We’re here!”

“Like finally!” She gasped, out of breath.

“Are you cold?” She shook her head.

“Stubborn girl” I chided as I placed my jacket over the shivering figure.

“Th-h-anks oppp-ppa” She managed to finish her sentence; Impressive xD

“Ahjumma! Dukbokki for two and one hot tea. Thanks” I placed my order and the ahjumma gave me a thumbs up.

“Here” I dug out a towel from my back pack and gave it to Ji Eun.

 

I brought the towel because I actually planned to go jogging by the Han river. But little did I know it will come up useful in a time like this. It must be fate ;)

 

“Why do you have a towel?” Ji Eun asked curiously.

“Secret!” I stuck my tongue out.

“Here’s your food! Enjoy!”

“Thanks! We will eat well!” We said in unison.

 

Ji Eun tied her hair up in a messy ponytail before digging into her food, like always. Keke ^^

Third person POV

 

Yoseob walked out of the restaurant to join IU after paying the bill.

 

“Ji Eun-ah, I’m heading to Singapore again tomorrow…” He started.

“What for?” She asked, showing slight disappointment in her voice.

“There’s this olympic event there and we’re invited to perform on the pre-opening stage. Hong papa said this is a good chance…”

“Oh… It’s a really good opportunity to expand your fame.” IU nodded in agreement.

“Well, at least I got to see you today, oppa… If not I wouldn’t be able to after you left Seoul” She smiled contentedly.

“I’ll be back soon! Although I’m not really sure how soon is soon…” Yoseob trailed off.

“Of course you’ll have to come back! Just be safe during your time there.”

“I will! Kekeke. I’m not a child, I can take good care of myself, you know?” Yoseob reassured her.

“You ARE a child! Remember those times when we were in Everland? You ran and played around with Dongho just like a little kid!” IU stifled a laugh.

“Hey, that’s not very nice!” Yoseob pouted cutely.

“Sorry then. Just take it that I’m self-entertaining myself, oppa!” IU stuck her tongue out.

“Aish! You’re really cheeky today! Whatever happened to my good girl Ji Eun?” Yoseob keeps his pout and narrowed his eyes.

“The wolf ate her! Hahaha!” She ran away.

“JI EUN-AH! Lee Ji Eun! Wait till I catch you!” He chased after the speeding girl.

 

They really do look like a sweet couple from across the street (:

 

“Oops! I’m here! Bye oppa!” IU ran into the lobby of the building and stuck out her tongue at Yoseob before running into the lift.
