“If you shout really, really loud, the sea will deliver your wish to the moon,” she smiles brightly, “and it will come true!”

“This is stupid.” I scoff as I watch her small frame against the orange sunset sky.

She’s already cupping her hands over and shouting in her tiny voice, “I wish that we can stay together for a long, long time!”

She is really, really stupid.

She starts falling apart one day, the cracks getting bigger.

“Why are we here?” she asks.

I take a deep breath and shout at the top of my lungs. “I wish that she will be happier!”

She stares blankly at me, and her big round orbs well up in tears.

“I wish that you’ll be happier,” I whisper quietly, and I grab her hand and pull her tiny trembling body close.

“You’re really, really stupid,” she says in between sobs.
