Re:
It was a really hot day.
I could feel the sweat trickling down my neck as if mocking me.
She stood in the middle of the empty ground, looking upwards. She stood just like that for quite some time. I walked over and stood beside her, trying to see what captured her attention.
“What are you looking at?” I asked curiously.
She turned over and gasped before quickly turning away.
There was a warm breeze blowing. For a brief moment, I saw something glisten in her eyes.
“You’re crying,” I said.
“I’m not.” She hurriedly wiped her tears. “The sun is too bright it’s making my eyes water.”
“Hey, should we go somewhere cooling?” I softened. “The sweat is going into my eyes, and I think I’m going to cry soon.”
She hit my arm weakly. “I said I wasn’t crying okay?”
I smiled and playfully tousled her hair. She glared at me, albeit not very menacing considering that I was a head taller.
“The last one to the bus stop treats!” I shouted before taking off.
“Yah,” she shouted. “You know I don’t run.”
I laughed and slowed to a jog.
“Then I’ll chase you!”
Summer was really here.
