I walked towards the bus stop and I saw my bus approaching. 7:33AM. I looked at my watch. I still had ample time. Amidst the people boarding the bus, I thought I saw someone familiar. His shoulders raised unevenly as he made his way up the bus. I stared a little harder, my brows furrowing. As the doors shut and the bus slowly drove off, I saw his face as clear as day. But it couldn’t be, I thought. I never placed much mind into that incident and like all other things, it got buried in my memory after some time, long forgotten.

I inhale as I prepare myself, ready to begin another same old day by fighting against the throngs of people just for a spot on the train. My one-track mind has allowed me to successfully accomplish this arduous task every day after much practice. I get on the right side of the escalator and set my eyes on the end of the platform. Despite the amount of effort I put into this simple everyday task, I refuse to move down the escalator because it goes against my energy conservation principle.
Today is the same. I can hear the sound of the train approaching. There is a flash of blue as a man in a pastel blue shirt hurries down. From the corner of my eyes, I can see his mouth slightly twitching up in the brief moment that he passes by me. I
