When I met her again, it was a year later on a crowded street. Her eyes were looking straight ahead. I raised my hand and the hello was already rolling at the tip of my tongue. However, she walked past me without any hint of recognition. I swallowed back my greeting, standing there dazedly and wondering what on earth just happened. Daeyeol seemed to have noticed my unusual behaviour. He immediately looked up from his phone which he had buried his head in for the past hour. He took a step and stopped at where I stood rooted. “What’s the matter?” I turned behind to look at her back becoming smaller and smaller. I patted Daeyeol on his arm lightly.
“Give me a minute! There’s someone I know!” I said over my shoulders as I jogged to her side. She did not seem to notice my presence still, and her eyes were still focused on something ahead. I continued walking alongside her for a few steps, but she was still oblivious. I let out a soft sigh and jokingly punched the side of her arm. She immediately jumped and whirled around, hundreds of emotions flashing in her usually glazed eyes. She looked like she was prepared to fight me, and I couldn’t help but laugh. “Hey,” I said. She finally recovered from the scare after taking a good scrutiny at my face.
She straightened her shirt and gave me a disapproving glance, but the corners of had twitched up, betraying the pleasant surprise she felt. “What are you doing here?” she asked.
I nodded towards the direction of Daeyeol where he stood at the side looking like a lamppos
