She glared at him and refused to speak.

“Okay, okay,” he raised both his arms in surrender. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have touched your things without your permission.”

She softened a little at his apology. “You can’t touch, not even with my permission.”

He laughed at her words. “Does this even make sense?”

Her face flushed with embarrassment and she hurriedly looked away, averting his intense gaze. “Mind your own business.”

He jumped off from the table and sidled close. “Do I know him?”

“Go back to your seat.” She tried to shoo him away, afraid that she would give away her feelings.

“You haven’t answered me.” He persisted because she was not one who would keep secrets from him. “He’s someone I know, right? Don’t be so defensive.”
