Re:
I can’t help but laugh looking back at the roundabout way we’ve taken to come here today. He’s laughing along too, something that I haven’t seen in a while.
“What took you so long?” I ask, nudging his arm lightly.
“You probably thought I was stupid,” he says.
“More than that,” I scoff. “You were beyond stupid.”
He chortles at my response. “I think I’m good again now, though not quite whole yet.” He takes a long deep breath then exhales loudly. “This feels so nice,” he exclaims.
I close my eyes and listen to the sound of the wind.
“Hey,” he begins. “Should we start over?”
I look at him and smile, extending my right hand for a handshake first.
Grinning, he straightens his coat and grabs my hand in a firm shake.
“Hi, I’m Lee Sungyeol, and on certain days, I still fall apart.”
“Choi Sanghee. My friend died. I wish I’d realised sooner.”
We stand beneath the vast sunset sky, but in that moment, I feel invincible, like I can take on the world. I think I won’t ever forget this day.
