On My Own

Hello Cold World III: I Only Want to Dance With You
On My Own

The brutal drive left her dizzy and confused.

Being so suddenly shoved inside a car with two people taking a hold of her so tightly, she could barely comprehend what was going on; but once she did, she tried to fight both of the men by pushing herself around in her seat, which made her end up with a loud thud from the back of a gun on her head leaving her unconscious for the rest of the road.

The moment she opened her eyes, she found herself inside a glass tank in an unknown place. As she took a look around, she saw nothing but space with dirt filling the ground as well as wooden columns holding up the high metal ceiling. She couldn’t see anybody else and could feel her panic slowly starting to build up inside of her.

She was screaming and kicking the glass tank all at the same time somehow hoping that it would either break or that someone would hear her and rescue her.

She went at it for at least half an hour and she still didn’t have any response. With the minutes passing by, she was losing the energy that she had inside of her and was slowly giving up her fight before she fell sitting on the floor with her back against the glass.

She looked up and saw that the tank was closed, leaving her with almost no air; her breathing was becoming short and could feel herself suffocating. The panic just kept rising as she tried to go for another round of hitting against the glass either with her hands or with her shoes, but got nothing, not even a scratch appearing against it.

When she was about to give up, she saw a figure approaching towards her making her stand back up as she tried to get the person’s attention. The closer it got, she quickly backed away to hit her back against the tank with a gasp escaping from her lips as she saw none other than Hyunseung walking to her.

Standing in front of her, he did nothing else but stare at her, giving her chills up and down her spine. She tried to avoid his gaze the best she could but hearing him softly calling her, she couldn’t help but look back at him, a reflex she still had.

“Get me out of here. Please…”

“I can’t.”

“Please Hyunseung…” She leaned herself against the glass to be close to him as she was holding herself up with her palm against the tank, looking solely at him with pain in her eyes. He placed his hand right against the glass so it would be against hers and looked down on it before lifting his head back up to look at her.

“I can’t disobey him, I’m sorry.”

He started to back away and turned around once he was far enough before disappearing from her sight, leaving her screaming out his name to get him back. Tears soon fell down her cheeks as she fought against the thick glass of the tank, trying to get herself out of there.

“Hyunseung! Please don’t leave me! Hyunseung! COME BACK!”

She kept on banging with the bits of energy she had left inside of her but soon gave up when she felt herself choking up on her tears. She fell back down on her knees as she leaned her upper body to the front, hiding her face on her lap while she was gripping onto her hair in full force. She soon shifted to the side as she brought her knees further to her chest and hugged herself with her arms wrapped around her chest while closing her eyes.

A few minutes had passed and she was on the verge of falling asleep when she heard another loud banging against the glass making her jump. She looked up and saw the sickening smirk of Hyun Su as he stared down at her. Turning her head to the side, she saw Hyunseung standing next to him, bringing her back to the fact that they were actually related; that Hyunseung could be, and was probably, as evil as the old man was.

She felt herself shiver at the thought of having spent the last three years by his side without even realizing that something was wrong with him.

Everything was just perfect.

But now that she was looking at both of them standing side by side, her mind drove her back to the day she thought he was just an orphan; when he told her that he was on his own ever since he was a teenager, just like her.

The tears she witnessed from his eyes as they rolled down his cheeks, the sudden break down of recalling his supposed dark past, the part of his life that he told her he wanted to disappear and ‘just start over… with you’; she believed it all.

She hung onto the hope that they would get through this together since they had nobody else but each other but now that she knew the truth, her pain of the betrayal he gave her went even deeper after finding out where he came from.

Over and over again, she kept asking herself how she got into this mess, what she did in her past life to be stuck in a battle that had nothing to do with her. The more she sunk into those questions, the less she wanted to find out; with the time that had passed by ever since all of this started, it suddenly became less important to know why she was in the middle of this.

She fell in love again with a man that haven’t dealt with his past, but what made it worse was that she was the one that ruined it. The result brought her to a gun point, and just for a split second she thought that her life would end like this. She couldn’t help but look at Hyunseung right now and think about the moment he was the one that had his gun pointed straight at her, ready to kill her on the spot.

With another tear falling down, she looked away and backed herself up against the glass, ignoring the stares of the two men.

She heard the chuckle coming from Hyun Su and a light thud that sounded more like a click. She looked up and saw the man walk away while Hyunseung was still standing. He had open, what seemed to be, the door of the tank but only by little, leaving a small crack open before walking away.

By now, she knew not to trust the man so instead of running away like her instinct was telling her to do, she stayed put, and simply looked around.

She leaned her head back and was now looking at the cap of the tank, emptying her mind with the worries that had crept up. She stayed like this for a while until she heard her name being yelled by a familiar voice, making her look down to see G.O running towards her.

She quickly got out of the tank by pushing the glass door further apart and ran to him until she was close enough to jump in his arms. She burst into tears the moment she felt him hug her back as he was gently her back to calm her down. He slowly pulled away to look at her while making sure she was okay.

“Mhmm, I’m fine. What are you doing here? H-how did you find me?”

“I wanted to pick you up as a surprise and saw what happened. I waited until they were gone so I can follow without getting caught... Plus, it was the same place where he took your father… I figured you’d be here…”

“O-oh… How about the others?”

“They’re on their way. For now lets just go-”

“Not so fast.”

They turned around to see Hyunseung with his gun facing both of them. G.O took his place in front of Seonya as she tightly gripped onto his arms while staring back at her ex.

“Please let us go. Hyunseung don’t do this-”

“S-stop it! J-just stop talking!”

She could see him shaking as he yelled at her before taking a step further towards them.

“You opened that door for me to escape! Just let me go! I’m begging you-”

“I said NO! That was just a trick! Idiot! We knew that he was coming, we know that the rest of them are on their way. You should’ve just ran away when I asked you to Seonya… Then we wouldn’t have had come to this.”

Right as he finished his last words, he pulled the trigger making the bullet land straight at G.O’s arm making him fall down with a cry of pain. The sudden action made her jump as she kneeled down next to him while he tightly held onto his wound.

The next thing she knew, she found herself being dragged away from him making her scream out as she tried to pry herself off from Hyunseung’s grip. She was pushed back inside the tank and had her neck squeezed from his hold while staring straight at her. “It shouldn’t have been that way Seonya but you had to choose them over me… why? Why not me? Didn’t I treat you right? Wasn’t I good enough for you? I love you-”

“N-no you don’t. I-if you did, we wouldn’t b-be he-re toda-y.”

“And that’s all because of you.”

He shoved her further against the glass and walked out of the tank before locking it and some button that made a hole appear on the cap where water started to fall at a rapid pace.

Panic struck her as she started banging on the glass while yelling at the top of her lungs. She watched him as he was walking back to G.O who was still lying down, groaning in pain. He stood over the body and stretched his arm to point the gun at him.

The shakiness in his hold was still there, showing him that he was hesitant on whether to pull the trigger or not. The banging from the tank made him look up at Seonya who was pleading him for help.

She saw G.O reacting as he kicked Hyunseung and quickly tackled him while giving him a few hits before the sound of a gunshot resonating through the warehouse.

From where she was standing, she saw G.O’s body, that was hovering above Hyunseung, suddenly fall down, limp on the ground; it had her screaming despite her voice being muffled by the endless sound of the water falling inside the tank, the level already reaching her knees.
