How long do you work?

K-Pop Audition/Trainee Questions

Hey everyone, so this is a quick post about the hours with being an idol.

Note: Everything will be based off my own observations and other articles I've read. Thus, different experiences will be different.

So basically, as an idol, you don't really do anything when you aren't promoting. During non-promotion times, you may relax with your family or go see a movie, etc but most idols have variety/radio shows to do (some of the rookies might train even more) when they aren't promoting with your group. So this will be a quick post about idol hours during promotion.

Quite frankly, for the 2-3 weeks you are promoting your single, its going to be hellish. You are probably going to be at most sleeping for 1-3 hours and the rest of the time will be left allocated to preforming, appearing on variety shows, and attending music awards and such.

For variety shows and other interviews, these will most likely be conducted in the late evening/early morning. Take for instance, an entire filming for Running Man. They usually film a good 5-6 hours at a time, in order to get 1.5 hours of watchable footage. Other shorter programs, such as Weekly Idol, might film for only 2 hours. But usually, theres another schedule to attend, so you would leave in a hurry.

Most likely, during promotions, you will be literally running everywhere. And not only from the lack of sleep you're getting (including lack of food since a lot of idols don't eat right before they go on stage), the sheer act of acting happy is tiring as well -- especially when all you want to do is to just sleep. Preforming will be even more difficult. It's fun to dance and sing when you have had enough to eat but it most definitely isnt as fun when you are surviving on one hour of sleep and only a kimbap.

For the more popular members, they will most likely be shuttled from one schedule to another while the less popular members can get some rest. Whether you believe that's a good thing, is up to you.

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: About Lu Han's casting story: I'm 5 years late but whatever, hello. Just recently I read somewhere that Lu Han was "officially casted" into 2010 SM Casting System or something which really surprised me because I thought he got into SM in 2008? I mean yes, he did audition for JYP in 2008 too, but in China. Also there was some fact about Lay and Lu Han and the reason why they are or rather were so close. Because they got into SM on the same day, if I'm not mistaken, and they grew close. A fact is that Lay got into SM too in 2008 after successfully auditioning in China and then moving to Seoul to be a trainee. The thing about auditioning at JYP is true and not being accepted is true as well, but that doesn't make him a trainee? Yeah, for me, I believe he got into SM and trained for three/four years and I don't really believe that he got casted in SM. It doesn't make any sense being casted in 2008 and signing a contract officially in 2010, I doubt that SM would wait that long, you'd probably have to audition again.

Chapter 18: Hi.... My name is Siang.... So my question is that what is the perfect age for a trainee of JYP Entertainment?? If I don't know Korean language than can I become a K-pop star? Getting to the actual point I can't dance that well so if I auditioned for a trainee in JYP Entertainment, will I get selected for a trainee?

Chapter 40: Hey, I want to be a trainee, but I live in Cali, and JYP's US branch is in New York. If I get in, how do I train there? Because I want to finish school. And also, do you need to attend college to get in? Or not?

Chapter 15: Nah... Hangengs was so many years ago and during that time he earned so little bc he wss the first foreign idol. Nowadays idols like exo or big bang can earn millions. (Correct me if im wrong) i think i read that a new law was made to protect artists and they dont have to pay back to earn money anymore(i think its only for the big 3)
