Question #11
K-Pop Audition/Trainee QuestionsHello beautiful potentials! Today's question is "What songs are best for audition, can list some out ??"
As a general rule, its best to pick songs that FIT YOUR VOICE BEST. Judges get tired of hearing the tenth Rolling in the Deep song towards the end of the day.
Here are some guidelines you should follow when picking out an audition song:
1. Don't pick a really popular audition song -- especially if you can't sing it well. These songs include Rolling in the Deep, any form of Whitney Houston, Over the Rainbow, etc. You get the point. Unless you are the reincarination of Adele and Whiteney Houston, stay away from these types of songs.
2. Don't pick a song that is sung by an artist in the company you are auditioning for. For example, if you are audition for SM, don't sing Run Devil Run or Sorry Sorry. Chances are, you can't sing better than the original artist and the judges are fully aware of the talent of the original artist and will most likely compare you to them. Unless you believe you can sing BETTER than the orginial artists (see Supears in The Boys) or you can put a unique spin on the song that makes it sound BETTER (see any of Raccoon Boys' cover (btw, i lurve them so much)), stay away from them.
3. Don't pick a song that doesn't reflect your true abilities. If you are great at vibrato, show it off! If you are better at high notes, show it off! Don't pick a song just because you think it would impress the judges, pick a song that showcases your ability the best.
4. Be sure to prepare MORE THAN ONE SONG. I remember hearing audition accounts of people being asked to preform a second song -- so definitely prepare more than one song.
Therefore, its not a great idea for me to list out good audition songs as each person should find a song that should cater their abilities. But, I can definitely list out some songs to jumpstart any ideas/suggestions.
Some Korean songs:
Goose's Dream -- Insooni
That Person -- Lee Seungchul
Hope is a dream the never sleeps -- Kyuhyun
Some English songs:
Thousand Miles -- Vanessa Carlton
Love song -- Sara Bareilles
Some Chinese songs:
You exist in my song -- Qu Wanting
Three Wishes -- FIR
There was another great Chinese audition song but I can't find it right now (LOL) so I'll update this when I do find it. :3
Any form of OSTs are generally a good idea, they tend to be slow and have a good and moving which will help you in the end :D
I hope I answered your question well. If you want additional critiques/information from me, feel free to email me videos/pictures~! Bye and good luck! Hwaiting~!
