Tip #5
K-Pop Audition/Trainee QuestionsDuring auditions, it is important to make whatever song you are singing, or whatever choreography you are dancing, YOURS. If any of you guys watched Kpop Star or Kpop Star 2, you could tell that all three companies througouly enjoyed the performance whenever the contestants sang a common K-pop song (like Run Devil Run, Ugly, Bad Girl Good Girl) but changed it up to fit their own personal style and/or made it seem like they had debut themselves with that song. During auditions, it is incredibly important to not directly sing a song, but make it seem like you are singing YOUR song.
If you have trouble thinking about different ways you could make a certain song or dance yours, remember to just experiment. Maybe you want to sing the harmony and not the melody in this area. Maybe you want to add in a couple of inflections or higher notes. Stray away from the typical cover of the song, have fun with changing it up a little bit -- the way you like it. Judges can automatically tell apart those who have potential/talent just from the different ways they could sing a song.
