Question #13
K-Pop Audition/Trainee QuestionsHello Everyone! Today's question is "When you are training. Does the company only offer you PS when you are about to debut or just because youre a trainee there and they need their trainess to be pretty???? Does the company pay for the trainee? I also heard rumours that trainees get surgery on their own decision and ask tha company if they could haveit done, would the company still pay even though the trainees suggests it theirselves?"
Each company's decision is based off of the company itself -- therefore the issue of plastic surgery differs from one company to another.
Usually there are two instances on how K-pop idol potentials get PS:
1. Their own decision
2. Company strongly recommends
Companies would most likely offer PS when you are about to debut because as a trainee, no one is supposed to know that you are a trainee (if that makes sense? like, there is a confidentiality statement you have to sign sometimes that states that you CANNOT tell anyone that you are a trainee except your family. That's why you shouldn't believe those who claim to be current SM trainees).
Most trainees are relatively good looking though -- like, almost all the trainees are very pretty so most companies don't need to require PS to achieve the fact that "all their trainees need to be pretty." Also, I talked about PS earlier and that most of the time in K-pop, they are little "changes" and are not drastic at all (most of the time, drastic changes are due to makeup and camera angles). Most K-pop idols also get PS slowly, meaning the tweak something small, and continue tweaking it throughout.
I'm pretty sure the companies would pay for it.
Yeah, some trainees do get PS even before they audition mostly because in South Korea, PS is just that prominent. Even store clerks or supermarket clerks get them done. I heard that some companies actually don't like PS if you get it done before you audition because your "new" face might not fit the concept. That's why most companies recommend PS before you debut.
But yeah, the companies will most likely pay for it.
I hope I answered it well and any further questions can be put in the comment section below!
