Potential vs Talent
K-Pop Audition/Trainee QuestionsPotential is an important factor during auditions. For those of you who think that judges value talent the most, I would like to disagree because I wholeheartedly believe that judges value potential the most.
The reason I believe so is because when you audition for Korean companies, you aren't going to debut right away (well, there are exceptions for the extremely talented). That being said, with years of training under consideration, I believe that potential weighs heavier than talent.
Most of the companies want a blank canvas -- someone they can mold easily into whatever group/style/concept. The blank canvas is the easiest (for both you and the company) to sell (as you would remember that these companies want moneyyyy). Therefore, those who show potential in auditions appear more of a blank canvas than those who are talented as those same people tend to have already found their own style.
Of course, this is completely different from US (or other countries' markets) where talent is viewed over potential as in most of these markets, you would most likely debut right away (or maybe even get scouted first).
This isn't a long post but I thought I'll post this for those out there who believe that they have "no talent" or "not enough talent" or "won't make it." Truthfully, you don't know if you have potential or not -- but its something that judges will see quite easily. So, since you may have the next "IT" factor, I think thats enought motivation to audition!
Good luck everyone! Don't be afraid to drop a question below or private message me :DDD
