Beautiful Stranger
Chapter 6
November 23, 2012. One week later after meeting Mr. Hey I just met you aka The Beautiful Stranger. So looking at the calendar, our first interaction with each other was last November 16. Funny, eh? Because sixteen is meaningful to me. I first fell in love when I was thirteen years old and the date was June 16, 2008. And my friendsary with my BFF's, which was on June 16, 2004. What a coincidence. Is there a relation between the date and the fateful encounters?
He was late once again, and I pretended not to care but I actually wanted him to be my partner. Not because I have a crush on him, but I no longer wanted to be alone.. I wasn't expecting him to stay, I feel useless and I'm not good anyway in Arnis.
I sighed for a moment, and sat holding my arnis sticks. I need someone to talk to.
"Hey." I stood up, and looking upward, I saw him once again.
"Uhm, hey.." I said in return.
"Class, you will be divided into three groups together with your partner. Next week you will have your practical exam in arnis." Mr. Tao interrupted the moment and taught us the new lesson. It was called the Single Sinawali. We slowly followed the steps, and faced each other the whole time.
"Omo! They're so cute!" Two girls from the class squealed, seeing me and this stranger together. I didn't mind, but deep inside, I wanted to show everyone how we can be cute as partners.
"Uhm, you're using the wrong hand." He said to me, as I breathe slowly.
"Sorry about that." I bowed. We continued to do so, yet I made the same mistake again.
"Here's how you do it." He looked at me and held my hand for a second. When we looked into each other's eyes, he lets go quickly. But really, I don't mind. It just feels different and unexpected whenever a guy holds your hand.
We practiced, like the usual, and I focused this time. I wanted to have good grades in this practical test.
We had a different world compared to others. That is, the two of us are together, away from the others. He would prefer practicing, and I have no right to complain. What makes me feel happy is that despite of me being on a different course, he remained and became my partner. The question is, how long?
The time we looked into each other's eyes, I felt paralyzed. I wonder why.
I wish he would show up early next week. If only I've got the courage to tell him.
