Breaking and Entering

Everything But Normal

“So when are your parents going to show up?” Su asked Yuhno and the others.

They’d been awake for more than half a day and the gods hadn’t deemed themselves to show up yet. They kind of figured that the moment they woke up the gods would be there to talk to them about what had occurred the night before but no such luck. Instead they were stuck wondering when they would appear and if they would even appear for that matter. After all as far as Steph, Su and Micky knew they were still prime suspects as to the missing scroll and the Minotaur incident. That symbol being a part of their school was bound to bring more suspicion to them.

“Who knows with them,” Yuhno shrugged knowing the way gods worked. He knew that if his father and the other gods wanted they wouldn’t show up until a couple of days. They always believed that they had all the time in the world even in dire situations like this one.

“How annoying,” Micky ran his hand through his hair.

Jae saw that notion and couldn’t help but stare at him. Stare at the way some of his hair stayed up from having fingers run through them constantly every few minutes or so.

“Jae you’re drooling,” Min whispered in his ear as he passed by.

Jae wiped his hand over his mouth and realized that he was not drooling like Min had said. He turned to look at the young boy and saw the smirk on his face. Annoyance at that smirk caused lightning to automatically surround Jae ready to strike at his target. Before he could do anything though Micky got in the way and blocked Min from sight.

“Right here?” Micky asked looking at Steph.

“Yup,” she smiled. “Turn to the left.”

He did as he was told and was staring directly at Jae. Jae’s lightning soon dissipated as he received a confused look from Micky.

“Ok now what?” he turned to look at Steph who wasn’t even looking at him anymore. “Steph!!” he yelled.

“What?” she stopped talking to Su and turned to look at Micky.

“Why the hell did you have me move here?” he demanded.

She shrugged. “No reason really just thought you should move around since you look bored.”

He glared at her, “I’m not bored.”

“Could have fooled me,” she turned back to talk to Su.

“Argh…she is so frustrating sometimes,” Micky muttered as he went to sit down on the grass.

Min looked at Steph as she talked to Su and shook his head. It was pretty obvious that she had seen the interaction between Jae and him so she used Micky to interfere. He really had to laugh at the fact that she had realized so soon that Jae was somewhat smitten with her friend. It made him wonder if she knew that Yuhno was after her brother but as far as he knew she had no clue. If she did he could picture her keeping Su away from him forever.

“What’s so funny?” Yuhno asked as he came up to him.

He startled at that and noticed that he was indeed chuckling at his thoughts, “It’s nothing.”

“Hmm…what do you think?” Yuhno asked.

“About what?” Min asked back.

“Our parents and theirs,” he clarified.

“Hmm I still think our parents don’t trust them,” Min answered.

“How about you?” Min turned to give Yuhno and inquisitive look. “I figured you took our side because we’re friends.”

Min sighed understanding him. “Yeah I kind of did but I don’t think their traitors or whatever.”

“Well you’re the smart one and your always right when it comes to people,” Yuhno complimented his friend.

Min scoffed at that knowing full well that there were times when even he could be deceived. “If you say so.”

I have a proposition for you, was sent to Min’s head. He turned to see that Steph was still busy talking to Su but he could have sworn it was her voice in his head.

You’re not going crazy I’m talking to you right now, the voice assured him. He couldn’t help but smirk when he noticed the small subtle movement she made with one of her fingers to indicate that indeed he hadn’t heard wrong.

What do you mean? He inquired not really knowing how this communication worked.

The six of us go to the school and try and see if we can find entrance to the basement, she suggested.

Why would we want to do that? He asked her.

He waited for her to answer him but the words never came to him in the way he had expected them to.

“So we can find and return the scroll to your parents,” she whispered in his ear from behind him.

Startled he turned around to look at her, he looked behind her and noticed that Su and Micky were watching them in a subtle manner. Looking back at Steph Min could notice as he stared into her eyes that she wasn’t completely present with him.

“How do you do that?” he asked her.

“Do what?” she smiled at him.

“Talk to me like you’re here when in your head your talking to them,” he explained.

“Lots of practice,” she replied. “I learned how to stay present while speaking to someone in person and in my head at the same time. So I’m able to communicate with you and know what you’re saying while at the same time I can talk to them and know what their saying too.”

“Can they do that?” he asked noticing that they weren’t looking at them anymore instead they were talking to each other.

“Yeah,” she answered following his line of sight. “The three of us learned how to do it at the same time.”

“I see,” was all he said.

“Anyway are you in?” she gave him and inquisitive look.

“Do we have a choice?” he asked her.

“Of course,” she grinned at him. “But we will be going without you if you decide not to come.”

Min had to chuckle at that. “Do you really think you can leave the camp just like that?”

“Yes,” Micky replied, Min hadn’t noticed him approach them.

“We memorized the way to get here,” Su explained.

“Why would you need to do that?” Jae asked joining the group.

“Just in case we got bored and wanted to go home,” Micky shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal.

“Look we’re leaving now so you guys can come if you want,” Steph began to walk away with Micky and Su on her heels.

Min, Jae and Yuhno stared at each other contemplating the pros and cons of following the three teenagers. In the end they sighed and went after them since they were very curious to know what was behind the door with the symbol. Also they were tired of waiting for their parents to show up knowing that it was possible that they wouldn’t appear for days if they wanted.

~~~
“How exactly are we getting in here?” Jae asked the moment they arrive at the school.
“It’s easy,” Su said rather cheerfully. “Just follow us.”
The six of them headed towards the back of the building where there was a door that was hardly ever used. Su placed his hand on the handle and turned it but it was locked. Steph then gave him something and he bent down to look at the doorknob. With the pin in his hand he began to pick the lock so they could go through the door. Once he heard a click he turned the knob and the door opened allowing them to enter the room.
“How the hell do you know how to do that?” Yuhno asked in bewilderment.
“When we were younger as a prank these kids locked us in a small room,” Micky explained. “Steph found a wire and fixed it, and then Su used that wire to unlock the door and get us out.”
“That’s horrible,” Jae gasped.
“Yeah but we learned from it,” Steph stopped at a corner and turned to the left.
“What do you mean by that?” Min wondered how you could learn from an experience like that.
“We learned to use our abilities to defend ourselves,” she enlightened. “It was a turning point for us because we had agreed that we wouldn’t ever use our powers again. After that day our plans changed and we began to practice with them instead.”
“We’re here,” Micky stopped at a door that had a symbol above it, a symbol that looked exactly like the one they saw back at the camp.
“Since you know how to pick locks why didn’t you ever try that?” Min asked as he stared at the door.
Micky, Su and Steph chuckled at the comment. Instead of answering his question Su tried picking the lock and failed. He showed them the pin and they noticed how bent it was, now useless.
“Oh,” was all Min could say.
“Jae what are you doing?” Yuhno questioned as he saw Jae surrounded by lightning.
“Improvising,” he said before he shot lightning at the door.
There was a loud boom as the lightning made contact with the door, also causing smoke to block their vision. When the smoke cleared they saw that the door was perfectly intact the lightning hadn’t made any damage. Frustrated with this Jae tried again but nothing seemed to happen to the door.
“Will you stop,” Steph told him. “If you continue we’re going to get caught or worse you’ll end up frying us.”
“Sorry,” he apologized and backed away.
“Min, would you observe this door with me?” Steph stared at Min.
“Umm sure,” he stepped closer to the door and began examining it with Steph.
After staring at it for five minutes they heard a cough from behind them so they turned to stare at their friends who had annoyed looks on their faces. Min and Steph decided to share their observations with each other before turning to their friends.
“So can you guys use your powers in enclosed places?” Steph asked Jae and Yuhno.
“Yeah,” the both answered. “Why?”
“We need to hit the symbol with our individual powers,” Min explained. “Micky will use his water, Jae lightning, Yuhno fire and Junsu earth while Steph and I use air.”
“You think that’ll open the door?” Yuhno asked.
“Yes” Steph replied beating Min. “But it will have to be done at the same time so it can work.”
“Ok,” the four of them nodded and began to collect their element.
At the count of three the six of them shot the symbol with water, fire, air, earth and lightning. Not long after the ground below them began to rumble and then the door opened. The six of them stared at each other before they entered the door which closed behind them once they were through it.
Ok so this was the next installment I hope you guys liked it. Things seem to be getting more interesting for the six of them. I hope you enjoyed and I will try updating as soon as I can. Bye ^_^
