That's What They Always Do in Movies!

Hey There, Brace Face!

Chan did what now?!”

Bee reached over the library table, smacking Jihoon in the head and making him choke on the cookies he was busy stuffing in his mouth. Chocking, he started to cough attracting attention to their table. He really shouldn't have been eating in the library in the first place, but he had skipped lunch so he could cram for their upcoming Algebra 2 test. Because of play practice, he wouldn't get home until later so he had to use all the free time he had to study. Rolling her eyes, Bee dug her pink water bottle out of her backpack and handed it to Jihoon, “Shut up! Everyone's looking at us!”

Lee Jihoon, are you eating again?” The librarian looked up from behind her desk, adjusting her glasses to see what the troublesome second year student was up to.

Jihoon's eyes widened as he quickly took a big gulp from Bee's water bottle and hurriedly gave it back to her. This was his sixth time getting caught by the librarian and she had told his last time that if she caught him again, he would be banned for the rest of the year. A few of the students that were in there snickered under their breath, knowing that this was the last of Jihoon they were going to see for a while. Bee slipped the water bottle underneath the table, hoping that the librarian wouldn't kick her out too for helping him.

I don't think the library is the ideal place for a date, Mr. Lee,” Assistant Ahn teased from the desk next to Head librarian Yoon, “Why don't you take Ms. Moon Bi somewhere more exciting?”

Now the entire student population in the room exploded into a giggling fit while Bee slowly slid into her chair, wishing she could disappear or at least turn invisible. Across from her was a flustered Jihoon who trying to collect the crumbs he scattered on the table, apologizing and bowing his head continuously. Bee caught Seunggwan sitting by himself at another table, covering his face with his books as he peered over the top edge, smiling giddily into the pages.

I apologize on Jihoon sunbaenim's behalf for eating in the library. I tried to tell him that he shouldn't do that but he wouldn't listen to me,,” Bee stood up from her seat and bowed, “We'll be going now,”

Grabbing Jihoon's wrist and slinging her bag onto her shoulder, she dragged him out the door cursing under her breath about how she was going to explain this to everyone in her class. Her and Jihoon weren't dating, unfortunately, and she really didn't want people to think they were. That wasn't the way she had planned things out in her head. She dreamed of Jihoon taking her out on a romantic date and when he dropped her off at home, then he would kiss her and ask her to be his girlfriend. That's how it should be, not getting together just because people thought they were.

Hey calm your !” Jihoon ripped his arm away from Bee when they entered the courtyard. Spinning around, Bee brought her hand up to give him another slap in the head before he caught her hand. Surprised, Bee's eyes doubled in size; this was the first time Jihoon ever stopped her. Jihoon smirked when he saw her shocked face, “Don't think I haven't figured you out, sweethea-ow! Yo!”

Bee landed a flick to his forehead before crossing her arms across her chest, eyebrows furrowing, “You don't and you never will, Mr. Lee,”

But aren't you also a Lee?” Jihoon rubbed his forehead.

Of course I know I'm a Lee!” she rolled her eyes. It really confused her why she was completely head over heels for someone as slow as he was, “This isn't the first time I ever thought about this because I realized that when you and I get married one day, I'll still be Lee Moon Bi,”

Raising his hands in defense, Jihoon backed up. He was used to girls being straightforward with their feelings when it came to confessing to him, but he'd never really had someone tell him that they planned on marrying him someday. Of course, who wouldn't? He was Lee Jihoon after all. He scoffed, and pretended to flip his hair all sassy-like, “Okay girl, I think you're getting ahead of yourself,”

Whatever,” was all she could respond to him. Slipping on the other strap of her backpack, she pulled Jihoon behind her as she started walking to one of the tables, “Anyway, getting back to Chan and Choyoung, yes. He really did ask her out on a date,”

Wow, that little rat's got guts,” Jihoon whispered under his breath. He felt bad for Soonyoung. Even though the older boy was nice and all, he knew that inside, Soonyoung was really hurting. When he sat down on the bench across from Bee, he sighed and rested his head on his hands, “I still can't believe Soonyoung let Choyoung go like that,”

Bee placed her English books onto the table with a loud thud, making him slightly jump in his seat. She didn't really know which side she supported, really. On one hand, Chan and Choyoung had known each other since they were little kids and they were really good friends. Even though they didn't hang out as often as they did, they were still close in terms of trust level. Choyoung trusted Chan with her secrets, and often told him her problems. Of course, that was all before she met Soonyoung. On the other hand, she supported Soonyoung because he was a total sweetheart like those dream boats in those Asian dramas. Actually, he was more generous than that.

I'm sure Soonyoung has his reasons,” Bee shrugged, turning to her homework assignment, “Besides, he's a smart guy. I'm sure he knows what he's doing,”

Jihoon raised an eyebrow at her, “You sound like you like Soonyoung or something,”

No, I still like you. That hasn't changed,”

Good. Don't stop liking me,” he cleared his throat and looked away, earning him a chuckling Bee. From the corner of his eye, he saw Bee shaking her head at her notes; it was obvious that she didn't take him seriously. Jihoon mentally kicked himself for saying that and tried to save himself from digging his own grave. Why did he even say that? He didn't even like Bee! Peering down at her bubbly handwriting, Jihoon scoffed, “I mean, because if you started liking Soonyoung, then that would be problematic,”

Bee jotted down an answer to one of the questions, not looking up once, “Don't worry. I don't think you like me. I'm not your type anyway,”

Right, totally not my type,” Jihoon nervously laughed. Bee nodded, acknowledging what he had said and continued on with her work. It's not like she cared anyway. He didn't have to like her back for her to like him. Besides, he had told her many times that he had a certain type of girl in mind and that she wasn't it. Even she had an ideal type in her mind, but it wasn't him.

She tapped with the end of her pencil, wondering how she was supposed to pass her oral test the next day. They were supposed to recite a paragraph in the book privately with their English teacher, Mr. Buckley. To her dismay, there were so many “l's”. Noticing this, Jihoon stretched his neck to try and see her paper, “Do you need help?”

Depends. Do you know how to speak English properly or just the ghetto kind?”

What do you take me for?” he turned her book around so that he could read the paragraph. If there was one thing he hated about Bee, it was that she thought that he was stupid. Sure he wasn't the smartest kid on the block, but that didn't mean that he didn't know anything! Bee treated him like he never “I didn't take three years of English for nothing,”

Yeah, three years of not paying attention in class,” Bee mumbled under her breath, only Jihoon heard her.

Excuse me, do you want me to help you or not?”

Sorry not sorry,” she made her way around the table and sat next to him, looking over his shoulder to get a better view of the page. She didn't even think anything was wrong until Jihoon shook her off and called her out for being too close to him that it made him feel weird. Honestly, could he get anymore immature? Pulling the book closer to her, Bee also pushed him over so he wouldn't be so cootiephobic, “Anyway, since you're helping me, I might as well tell you where Choyoung's date is. I get the feeling you're going to spy on them anyway,”

Pfft, no!” Jihoon lightly tipped her head, “Soonyoung and I don't roll like that!”

Jihoon, I have a bad feeling about this,”

Twin ajummas Soonyoung and Jihoon tightly clutched their brightly colored scarves over their heads as they peeked over the rims of their round glasses from behind a downtown map directory. They were both hunched underneath long coats that they had borrowed from Bee. Actually, everything they were wearing right now was all from Bee. The pink and white coats, Willy Wonka glasses, wildly printed scarves, and glittery lip gloss were all from inside her locker. Why she even had disguises in there remained a mystery to the two. The only things that belonged to them that they were wearing happened to be their contrasting black and gold soccer uniforms.

What if Choyoung catches us?” Soonyoung looked down at Jihoon who was on all-fours on the sidewalk, watching Choyoung waiting just a few feet away from them by the fountain. It was Saturday afternoon and they should have been practicing with the rest of the team if Jihoon hadn't pretended like he was having a stomachache, allowing them to leave practice early. Soonyoung didn't even know why Jihoon had faked it in the first place. He only realized when they got there. Sighing, Jihoon turned his head, “Look, do you want to get the girl or not?”

Soonyoung stuck out his bottom lip in a pout and slowly nodded his head. Even though Jihoon was making a point about watching Chan to see what to do and what not to do, he still felt dirty. He had given Choyoung permission to go on a date with Chan and here he was, acting like he didn't want her to. He shifted his attention back to Choyoung. Honestly, he couldn't help but feel a bit jealous of Chan at this point. Choyoung seemed to have dressed up nicely just for the date; heck, she was wearing a dress and she even let her hair down and curled it!

Do you see that? She spent time looking pretty for Chan,” Jihoon pointed out to Soonyoung, “Don't you feel bad at all?”

Even though it was killing him on the inside to see Choyoung all dolled up for someone else, he didn't think that it suited her personality. It took Soonyoung all his might to shake his head no. Besides, the only dates he had ever taken her on were ones where they would do something outdoorsy and required a lot of running or walking. Of course she would dress comfortably. Jihoon shrugged his shoulders and started tugging on the older boy's shorts, “Ah hyung, look! Chan's here!”

Wow, Chan really cleans up nicely,” Soonyoung found his mouth go dry. Chan actually looked like he put in effort in dressing up as well, and boy did he do it correctly. He sported a casual solid navy polo, black pants, and classic Converse. Even though it was a pretty simple outfit, he had to admit, Chan carried it well. The boy looked quite confident in himself too. Jihoon saw Soonyoung's face fall and patted him on the knee, “Don't worry bro, I think you look a lot cooler than him any day,”

They watched Choyoung cutely wave to Chan making them gag at how obvious her fake sweetness was. Of course, Chan was the type of guy who was into the cute girls; Choyoung knew this and didn't hesitate to use this to her advantage. Not like she was trying to impress him or anything, but it was a date after all. Might as well get into it your role, right? Jihoon quickly got up from his spot on the floor and started after the two when they crossed the street, “Mission Spy on ChoChan is a go!”

Ahead of them, Chan and Choyoung were walking side-by-side, not knowing what to say to the other. They usually talked up a storm in class, but now actually being on a date outside of school, it was weird to think up of something to say. It's not like they could make fun of the teachers behind their backs since there were no teachers. Stuffing his hands in his pockets, Chan looked ahead of him “Thanks for coming with me today,”

No problem,” Choyoung gripped the strap of her bag. It was weird knowing that she was actually on a date with Chan. The atmosphere was quite different from the dating scene she had experienced with Soonyoung. Instead of it being lively and light-hearted, it was more tense and uncomfortable. She figured that it might have just been because Chan and her still weren't used to each other's feelings.

Trying to make conversation, Chan cleared his throat, “I know noona talked to you,”

Oh, did she tell you?” she looked up at him, “Or did you overhear us?”

If he had overheard her, she wouldn't be surprised really. It wouldn't be the first time anyway. Chan always listened in on her and Bee's conversations to see if they said anything interesting. He liked listening to others' conversations. They amused him. Chan rubbed the back of his neck, “I kind of figured that she would say something to you. Ah, I'm really sorry. It makes me seem like I couldn't ask you out for myself,”

No, it's fine, really!” Choyoung smiled, trying to comfort him. She remembered Saron saying that this was Chan's first time trying to fight for anything, and something like that would hurt him if he thought that she only accepted because Saron told her to. Lifting up the mood, Choyoung chuckled, “Besides, I've been wanting to go out somewhere for a while. Play practice is suffocating,”

Suddenly Chan clapped his hands together, “Ah that's right! I've been meaning to ask you if you're kissing Seunggwan at the last scene or not,”

Eyy, that's not something you ask out of the blue!” Choyoung lightly punched him in the arm. She was glad that he wasn't being distant anymore, and he was starting to loosen up a little bit. She liked talkative Chan more than a conscious Chan. Choyoung pretended to lock her lips, “Besides, even if I was, why would I tell you? I'm sure you would spread it around the school and ruin the surprise for everyone!”

Clicking his tongue, Chan pretended to look like he was hurt by her words, “So you are kissing Seunggwan hyung after all! I knew he wasn't practicing in front of the mirror for no reason!”

Wait what?”

Oh nothing,” Choyoung sang out, looking in every direction other than at Chan's confused face. How could he forget already? They were all in the same acting class! In fact, he was put with one of their other classmates, Jinki! Surely his kissing experience wasn't that bad that he would want to forget. She couldn't help but laugh as she tried to picture Seunggwan practicing his kissing backstage. He was such an oddball, that Bu Seunggwan.

For a while, Chan tried to get Choyoung to spill the details only to no avail. It really didn't interest him who she kissed and who she didn't. He knew that many of the boys in their class didn't think that Choyoung was a bad looking girl, and if given the chance, they'd kiss her. Of course, they didn't desperately want her like the more popular girls in their class. On top of that, he figured that Soonyoung may have already kissed Choyoung since they seemed to be a lot closer to each other the night after prom.

I know I'm not Soonyoung, but please take this date seriously with me,” he bluntly said, catching Choyoung's attention. This was odd for him to see considering that he didn't usually talk seriously. Chan held his hand out to her with a look in his eyes that said 'at least pretend like you enjoy this'. Chan forced a smile onto his face, voice cracking, “This might be the only date I will get from you,”

He really did want Choyoung to enjoy spending time with him at least. It wasn't his intention to change her feelings in a heartbeat, but at the same time he wanted to try his hardest to get his feelings through to her. If he didn't try, what was the point of even telling her that he liked her? Choyoung blankly stared at his hand before placing her hand in his. She didn't feel the spark that she did the other day with Soonyoung at the soccer field, but it was still a comforting feeling. She could tell by the way that Chan's hands shook that he was nervous and scared. Choyoung squeezed his hand lightly, “Don't think that way,”

They continued to walk for a while, passing by a good selection of clothing stores and restaurants. Neither of them were really into the whole 'city dating' kind of thing but Chan thought that they should mix things up a little bit. They were always in the natural outdoors, so maybe the industrial city would bring new adventures. Chan stopped by to read one of the downtown maps and pointed to a blue area, “You want to watch a movie? That's what they always do in movies,”

Monsters University!” Choyoung eagerly shook his arm, pointing up at the movie listings. She had been dying to watch that for so long ever since she saw the trailer on TV. Her parents never had the time to take her to the movies anymore, and school was always getting in the way. Chan looked down at her, raising an eyebrow, “Are you sure? I thought your girls liked to pick chick-flicks on movie dates,”

Sticking her tongue out at him, Choyoung tuck her nose in the air, “Not everything you watch in movies is true you know! Besides, girls would usually go for horror movies so they can cling onto the boy's arm when they're scared or something,”

So why don't we watch that then?” Chan wiggled his eyebrows up and down, earning him a flick on the forehead. It didn't really matter to him what movie they watched since he was fine with anything. As long as it wasn't one of those crappy comedy films, he was alright with it. Rolling her eyes, Choyoung pulled him into the line so they could purchase their tickets. It was so like him and Soonyoung to say something like that. Both of them shared similar conversation skills, and it made things a whole lot easier for her, “Nice try Chan, it takes more than horror movies to scare me,”

Chan took his junior card from his wallet, “Whatever you say. But don't come complaining to me when you realize that you actually want to watch a romantic comedy or horror movie over monsters going to university,”

Oh we'll see,” Choyoung narrowed her eyes at him, “Nothing can top the power of youth!”

I can't believe the guy gave you seats behind Choyoung and Chan,” Soonyoung whispered to Jihoon from behind the bucket of popcorn he was holding.

They were literally behind the two classmates who seemed to be more interested in the movie rather than each other at this point. Ever since he sat down, his eyes never left the two, and they really weren't doing anything that would pass his comfort zone. Chan didn't look like he was even trying to make a move on Choyoung. Jihoon munched away on his personal container of Swedish Fish that he had snuck into the theater since he didn't want to pay an extra 1500KRW just for candy. The younger boy pried his eyes away from the screen and saw Soonyoung staring intently at the space between Chan and Choyoung, “Yo, I don't think he'll try to pull anything funny. This is a kid's movie, not a chick-flick,”

Seeing that Soonyoung still wasn't convinced, Jihoon shifted in his chair and whispered so that only Soonyoung could here, “You've got to have some faith in Choyoung, bro! Think about it, she's the one who picked it. I'm sure she's well aware of what would have happened if she chose a romance movie instead,”

I guess you have a point,” Soonyoung bit his lip, now somewhat convinced. Jihoon was right, Choyoung wouldn't do anything that she wasn't comfortable with doing. That, or Choyoung really was just naïve to pick a kid's movie over a romance movie. From his spot, he could make out a little of Choyoung's side profile as the screen's lights shone on her face. He couldn't find himself smiling as well whenever Choyoung laughed or giggled at something in the movie. When Jihoon noticed this, he was happy for his friend. Soonyoung truly was lovesick.

After a few minutes, Jihoon decided to go out and get some fresh air and leaned over to Soonyoung, “I'm going to use the bathroom, alright? I'll be right back,”

Dashing outside the room, he headed straight for the bathroom. He knew it was there somewhere, he literally saw it right before he went inside the movie room! Wandering around for a while, Jihoon found himself caught up in a whole crowd of people exiting one of the movie rooms for a romance movie that had just ended. As he wove his way through the crowd, he bumped into a significantly shorter person and watched them fall to the floor. Immediately reacting, Jihoon bent over to help the fallen person, “I'm so sorry I...!”

No, it's okay, I'm fine!” the familiar high-pitched, bell-like voice responded.

Jihoon froze in his spot – what was Bee even doing here? He expected her to slap him or something but then he remembered that he was still in disguise. Quickly wrapping the scarf around his mouth, he turned around and darted in the other direction and hid behind an open door, leaving a confused Bee on the floor. Not like he cared. She needed to have a change of views anyway. It must be hard to always feel high and almighty. Peeking from the circular window, he attempted to figure out who she was with, “Who in the world would even think about going on a date with Bee?”

Moon Bi, are you okay?” another boy came up to her and helped her up on her feet. If it were a regular person, he wouldn't have minded but there was something that made that boy more special than any regular person. Jihoon gasped, covering his mouth with his hands. That was their soccer uniform! He pushed himself up higher on the tips of his toes to see better, “Turn around, turn around! Show yourself, you traitor!”

Thanks Seokmin,” Bee dusted herself off before smiling up at Jihoon's team mate.

At this point, Jihoon was about to start pulling out his hair and run around screaming. Lee Seokmin? Lee Seokmin the playboy? Lee Seokmin the boy who wanted to switch Baeji out with Bee on White Day?! How in the world did the two even get around to the point where they would go out on a date together? Getting down on his knees, Jihoon quickly crawled to the other side and hunched down behind a silver trashcan and watched them pass by to exit the building.

Oh my gosh, I have to tell Soonyoung,” he sprinted out from the trash can, “Who knows what Seokmin will do to her?!”

Heading back to the row Soonyoung was sitting in, he tapped the older boy on the shoulder, once again kneeling on the floor, “Hyung, I have to leave you. Something came up and I really have to go. You're on your own, buddy!”

Wait, what about me?” Soonyoung's eyes widened in panic, not sure what he was supposed to do after the movie was over. It wasn't even his idea to follow the two around in the first place. He was merely there to keep Jihoon company! Shrugging, Jihoon got back up, tightened the scarf around his neck before he grabbed a handful of popcorn and tossed it over Chan's head, “Throw some popcorn over or something. That's what they always do in movies!”
