Airways, Breathing, Circulation

Hey There, Brace Face!

Bee, get off. You're hurting me,”

The four teens walked one behind the other with Jihoon in the front followed by Bee, Soonyoung and Saron. Now Bee as you could see, had her fingers tightly gripping the back of his royal blue sweater, pulling it towards her but choking him at the same time. Letting go, Bee wiped her hands on her pants but stayed a close distance to Jihoon, “Sorry, but pretty girls like me shouldn't be out at this hour,”

After hearing this, Jihoon couldn't help but laugh earning him Bee's famous head slaps. The older two behind them chuckled to themselves at the two immature kids. Jihoon definitely acted different Bee from when they normally saw him in class. In school, he was this cool, swaggerific boy, but when Bee was around, he changed into a complete clown. They continued to walk for a few more minutes until finally, Saron called out to them, “Hey guys, I really think we should split up. We might find them faster that way,”

Um, hello? Have you never seen horror movies?” Jihoon raised an eyebrow while flailing his hands at her, “If you split up, you die!”

Fine, then I'll go by myself,” Saron decided, pushing her way through the younger three. No one dared to stop her since they all knew that the school's track star would never back down on what her mind was set on. Although, Jihoon didn't hesitate to yell out possibly the last things he would ever say to her, “I don't want your spirit to come haunting me when you realize that I told you so!”

Soonyoung and Bee both took turns hitting him upright the head, punishing for saying something so rude. Mumbling to himself, Jihoon cursed the two under his breath saying that he hoped that Saron would go after them instead if she were never to resurface again. Rolling his eyes, Soonyoung pinched the bridge of his nose, “Look, as much as I don't want to agree with her, I also really want to find Choyoung,”

Just Choyoung?” Bee emphasized 'just' while she nudged his side, “We wouldn't want anything bad to happen to Chan, would we?”

Rubbing the back of his neck, Soonyoung nervously laughed, “Well Chan too, I guess. But hopefully he's kind of disabled right now so that he can't do anything to her,”

Yo bro, I don't know,” Jihoon shrugged his shoulders and started to lead the three of them through the woods once again. The other two had no idea why they put him in charge of navigating since he was the one that got Bee into that mess with the pigs earlier, but neither one of them were saying anything. Jihoon adjusted the straps of his backpack, “I mean, when I was still Chan's age, my hormones were raging like mad. You don't even know the urge I had to want to kiss girls – ow!”

Shut up, Jihoon! You're only making Soonyoung feel bad!” Bee shoved past Jihoon making sure that her shoulder bumped against his. Losing his balance, Jihoon fell onto the ground while the other two walked by him, not bothering to help him up. The younger girl placed a hand on Soonyoung's shoulder and lifted his chin up so that he didn't look so miserable, “Cheer up, Soonyoung. I've known Choyoung ever since we were little kids and she's definitely not the type to kiss another guy when she likes someone else,”

The small eyed boy slightly smiled down at Bee and ruffled her fringe. Immediately the reassuring smile on her face disappeared and her OCD kicked in. Reaching up to pick at the messed up strands, Bee stuck a tongue out at him before looking back to see if Jihoon was still following them. Her eyes widened, “Jihoon?”

No answer.

He probably went off on his own,” Soonyoug shrugged as he helped her fix her fringe, “Jihoon's got this bad habit of leaving when someone shows him up. We'll find him sooner or later. He doesn't want to die after all,”

The two wandered into an open area with grass up to their knees. They heard whispering, or moreso harsh, low voices talking in the distances. While Soonyoung's eyes wandered up to the trees hovering above them, Bee walked a little forward and squinted towards the middle. She could make out something moving, but she had no idea what it was. Once her eyes adjusted to the light of the moon, her hands flew to to keep herself from screaming. Bee sharply breathed in, catching Soonyoung's attention. He looked at her, “Are you okay? What's wrong?”

Bee froze in her spot, while her eyes continued to grow wider by the second. Quickly spinning around, she turned Soonyoung, facing him towards where they came from, “Nothing, they're not here! It's completely empty!”

Despite Bee pushing his back as hard as she could, Soonyoung didn't budge. The harder she pushed, the more curious he grew. What did she see exactly? Peering over his shoulder, he tried to make out the black figures in the middle. With no luck, he broke off from Bee and slowly made his way closer. His heart almost went dead by the time he was halfway there. Trying to get him before he saw anything, Bee jumped onto his back only to slide off and drop onto the ground on her bottom.

Soonyoung speechlessly stared with his mouth hanging slightly open as his younger rival locked lips with the girl who had stolen his heart. Using the word 'painful' couldn't fully describe the way he was feeling right now. That feeling came onto him like a wave crashing against the end of the boardwalk on a storm, overflowing onto the surface. It was like experiencing first-hand one of your most grueling nightmares while you slept and it endlessly replayed in your head. His broken heart was silent, like he was now, slowly crumbling away.

But there was something else arising. Something brighter, bolder – rash even! His breathing became heavier, chest rising as his fists balled up with his nails digging into the skin of his palm. Fury stormed within the broken remains, as he stomped over to the two. Seeing this, Bee scrambled from the ground and grabbed his wrist, “Soonyoung no, wait!”

It was no help. Being much strong than she would ever be, he easily slipped away and raged towards the two. Soonyoung separated the two, grabbing Chan by his shirt collar and pinning him against the rather large log. He could hear the voices of the two girls in their presence begging for him to stop but his mind wouldn't follow. Chan fearfully stared up at the taller boy, eyes double in size terrified of what might happen to him, “Hyung, I can explain!”

Don't you 'hyung' me!” Soonyoung growled, eliciting a squeaky yelp from Chan.

Get off of him!”

Soonyoung felt a pair of hands attack him from the side, pushing him down onto the ground. When his vision refocused, he looked up and saw Saron dusting off her younger brother. She had heard all the yelling not too far from the woods and trail she was following and arrived only to see Soonyoung looking like he wanted to murder Chan. Choyoung and Bee ran up to Soonyoung crouching down to see if he was okay.

Hyung!”

The sound of his name being called by a different voice gained his attention and he turned his head in the direction of where the voice came from. Seeing this as an opportunity, Saron grabbed Chan's wrist and broke into a run, only to be pulled back. She stared at Chan, wondering why he wasn't heading for the hills. Chan looked at her with a saddened look on his face. A part of him wanted to run away but another overpowered and told him to stay there. He wasn't going to just leave the problem behind, he was determined to solve it right here, right now.

Familiar snorting rang throughout the field, striking fear into the hearts of all four of them. They all stood up and started backing away but not entirely breaking into a run. And there, under the pale moonlight, was Jihoon, sprinting as fast as his stout legs could carry him with a monster boar almost five feet tall when standing on it's hind legs. The small boy screamed bloody murder as he led the pig closer to the group, hoping that the pig would leave him alone. He veered left, accidentally crashing into Choyoung. Choyoung felt the air from her lungs being ripped out of her lungs when's Jihoon's body made contact, and another force landing on top of her her. Then everything was black.

Choyoung!” The two boys cried out, rushing over to the pile on the ground.

Jihoon!” Bee did the same, trying to show sympathy for the other victim as well.

The squealing pig slid off from Jihoon's back, and ripped the chain that was hanging from his pants off before running away, back into the woods squealing happily as . Hearts racing, Bee and Soonyoung lifted Jihoon off the ground by his shoulders while Chan rushed over to Choyoung. Calling Saron over, Soonyoung left Jihoon in the care of both the girls while he went to attend to Choyoung. There was something different though. It wasn't even the feeling of love, but instinct taking over. Pushing Chan aside, Soonyoung placed his pointed and middle finger under her jaw – still beating.

Slipping his backpack off his shoulders, Soonyoung moved it under her legs so that her legs were elevated. He remembered from Health class that elevating a person's legs would help the blood flow to the chest and legs. Chan was off to the side, calling for medical assistance while Saron and Bee were dialing their parents. Jihoon had crawled on his knees next to Soonyoung and was aiding him in responding to Choyoung. The younger boy could hear Soonyoung mumbling the ABC's under his breath: Airway, Breathing, Circulation.

Loosen any tight clothing!” Chan yelled out to Soonyoung, covering his hand on the microphone of his phone so that his voice wouldn't blast through the other end. Jihoon ped Choyoung's sweater and ed the rest of the buttons on her collar while Soonyoung undid her belt.

Saron announced as she dialed her parents' number, “Ranger Lee's coming back with the camp nurse,”

Soonyoung, hers and your parents are coming!” Bee slipped her phone back into her pocket, stretching her neck to see what was going on.

Because Bee watched romance dramas religiously, she knew that in these situations, it was better to stay out of the way. At least, don't bother or distract the ones who looked like they knew what they were doing. In this case, it was Soonyoung and Jihoon. In her time of knowing him, this was the first time she had seen Soonyoung completely take control. Usually he would have stayed quiet and kept his feelings to himself while others were around, but right when Choyoung hit the ground, he took the initiative. And it wasn't just because it was Choyoung he was trying to help, someone's life was on the line. In her eyes, that made him look rather charming. Seeing him like this, she could already envision him in a doctor's coat.

A different side of Jihoon had come out as well. His usual stupid self was thrown out the window and replaced with a mature, knowledgeable Jihoon. He listened carefully to Soonyoung's instructions, and did whatever he was told to. Bee even had to admit, she was impressed how calm Chan was being. Then again, these were the three science geniuses. What else was she to expect?

CPR. Are any of you trained to do CPR?” Chan asked, following the instructions that the EMS was telling him on the phone.

He didn't want to try and be a hero by doing something he had never been taught how to do. The three second year students exchanged glances with one another, knowing that they had just passed their test to perform CPR just a few months ago. Soonyoung bit his lip, and then looked to Jihoon, “Jihoon I need you to -”

Are you sure about this?” Jihoon asked, making sure that Soonyoung, the real Soonyoung and not life rescuer Soonyoung, was going to be completely okay with this. Though hesitant, Soonyoung nodded his head and scooted off to the side to make room for Jihoon.

Yeah, but you owe me big time, bro,” Soonyoung patted Jihoon's shoulder while he mentally prepared himself to give the rescue breaths.

Jihoon nodded as he leaned over with a smirk on his lips as he accepted Soonyoung's conditions, “Of course, it's not everyday you get to kiss your best friend's first love,”

I can't thank you enough,” Mrs. Kwan's embrace on Soonyoung could only get tighter around his neck as she showered him with praises from helping her beloved daughter, “If it weren't for you, I don't know what would have happened to my poor baby!”

Soonyoung managed to force a smile onto his face as he looked at Mr. Kwan who was in front of him. Mr. Kwan nodded his head, and patted him on the head gratefully, “I'm sure my wife is already thanking you for me on her behalf, but thank you. You did well, Soonyoung,”

Of course, Soonyoung didn't mean to take all the credit for himself. His eyes made it's way to Jihoon who just flashed him a thumbs up. Jihoon had told everyone that it was Soonyoung who had administered CPR and the only thing that he did was do whatever Soonyoung had told him to do. Mrs. Kwon was obviously proud of her son for his brave attempts. This made Soonyoung feel dirty. No matter what people though, he knew that it wasn't him that had helped Choyoung. He was too scared to. Sure, he was the first one to do anything to help her but he hesitated when given the instruction to administer CPR. He didn't believe in himself enough to.

No, it's alright, Mrs. Kwan,” Soonyoung was finally able to pull out of her death hug, “I'm sure Choyoung would have done the same to me,”

After thanking him one more time, Choyoung's parents went over to talk to his parents to start thanking them instead. Soonyoung had no idea what there was to thank them for since they weren't even there. Maybe they were going to thank his mom and dad for giving birth to him. He didn't really understand the world of adults quite yet.

You were really cool,” Bee stood next to Soonyoung with Jihoon snickering next to her.

Soonyoung lowered his head, embarrassed about all the attention he was receiving. He didn't do much, really. It just came to him. At that time, it didn't even seem like he was thinking; it just kind of...happened. Bringing his head back up, he looked around to see where Chan was. He still wasn't done with Chan. He raised an eyebrow when he couldn't find Chan anywhere, “By the way, what happened to Chan?”

He left with Saron earlier,” Jihoon crossed his arms over his chest, “I think they were heading back to their room. Figures. He's not man enough to stand in the same room as you,”

When Bee noticed the saddened look on Sonoyoung's face, she pinched Jihoon's arm as hard as she could. Now was not the time to play alpha dog. She could certainly sympathize with Soonyoung since, as she understood, Choyoung was his first love. He was new to this whole thing, and was probably not prepared for the whole 'second guy' interference. She placed a hand on his arm and whispered so that the parents wouldn't hear, “I'm sure Choyoung didn't kiss him because she wanted to,”

Yeah, he probably forced himself on her like the douche-bag he is!” the smaller boy exclaimed, earning him another pinch courtesy of Bee; he swore that by the next morning, his arm would be purple.

What Jihoon is trying to say is that maybe Chan had a reason to do it,” Bee completely changed Jihoon's original message meaning. She could tell that Soonyoung wasn't happy with what she said. Shrugging her shoulder, she sighed, “Why don't you ask Choyoung about it when she wakes up?”

Soonyoung opened his mouth to respond but was interrupted by Mrs. Kwan's excited screams. The trio looked up and saw Choyoung slowly exiting the room that the responders had occupied to treat her in. She had been in there for about half an hour and only now did Soonyoung see her again. Choyoung's and Soonyoung's eyes met for the first time again since they got separated hours ago, before she was pulled into her mom's aggressive embrace. The EMS started to exit the room but Soonyoung pulled one aside, “Uh excuse me, sir,”

What can I do for you?” the older man asked. He didn't seem that old though, probably around his mid-twenties and in college. Twiddling with his fingers, Soonyoung peeked over at Choyoung before looking back at the man, “Would you mind telling me what happened to Choyoung?”

Oh, right! I suppose her worried boyfriend has the right to know what happened,” the man patted Soonyoung's shoulder quite strongly, “She fainted. Poor girl might have hit the ground pretty hard to have her breathing completely cut off, but don't worry. She's alright. Although, we might think that she passed out from some sort of psychological stress,”

What do you mean?”

I mean, she must have been really thinking about something for her to black out like that,” the man picked up the bags he had set down, “Anyway, take care of her alright? Good night to you and your friends,”

It wasn't long before all of them had returned to their rooms to get some shut-eye in the remaining night hours. It was already 10:30 and everyone was pretty much drained at this point. Knowing the current situation, Bee had offered that Jihoon and Choyoung switch rooms for the night so Soonyoung and Choyoung wouldn't be awkward in the same room that night. Although Choyoung reassured her that she was going to be alright, Bee still couldn't help but feel concerned.

Choyoung laid on her side of the bed, staring at the ceiling above her, studying the wooden patterns of the panels. Pulling the blanket up to her chin, she let out a deep breath and shook her head to try and forget about all the events that happened today. Choyoung turned her head to the lamp table next to her and stared at the heart rate watch sitting on the tabletop. It was frozen on an 84, the last reading it took and saved before the battery fell out. She sighed once more, taking mental note that she would bring it to Jinki, their class' tech genius, to fix it for her. Next to it was his, which displayed a surprising 94. It made her curious to know why it was that high.

Her thoughts were interrupted by Soonyoung's snoring. Pushing herself up, she sat up against the headboard and looked down at the sleeping boy. His mouth was slightly open and his hair was all over the place from rubbing against the pillow when it was wet. She giggled, knowing that Soonyoung literally went straight out of the shower and just slipped underneath the covers to sleep. It had been a long night for him, she understood that, and it was for her too.

She slid out of her bed and knelt next to him with her hands gripping the sideboards. Biting her lip, she leaned over and brushed his bangs out of his face. Choyoung lightly pressed her lips against his forehead, and admired his sleeping face once again. Although his eyebrows were somewhat furrowed together from going to sleep frustrated, the concern he had for her was still prominent. Choyoung shook her head, still unable to believe that Soonyoung could still care about her at this point.

Getting up, Choyoung walked over to the door and slowly opened it. The cool breeze brushed against her face, blowing her fringe a little to the side. All the lights were off except for the measly light shining from the lamp that had gnats and mosquitoes buzzing around it. Taking a deep breath she stepped out almost closing the door behind her. Looking over her shoulder at Soonyoung one last time, she whispered, “I'm sorry,”
