Intermission
Parachute
The devilish man extended his hand a bit towards me and urged me to take it. I'll love you like you're on the edge of a cliff: frightening yet exciting.
Without any hesitation, I reached for the devilish man’s hand, trusting his words. The minute that our hands make contact, I felt adrenaline rushed throughout my whole body. My head whirled like a storm and my heart pounded like a jackhammer; instead of focusing on these things, my eyes were fixated at the man before me. Even though my feelings were mixed-up, seeing the soft smile of the man assured my mind that I was going to be okay.
Memories began to flood my mind: Our first confession; first kiss; first time to tell each other I love you. I was happy and felt it course through my body. A smile found its way onto my lips; but before my happiness could escalate—and before our hands could fully clasp—pain struck.
Tears suddenly welled into my eyes.
The devilish man let loose of my hand, mouthing the word ‘sorry.’
