CHAPTER 5 – THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE UNSEEN

The dinner that night went surprisingly well. Junhyung even managed to fit himself well into his family. His mother seemed fond of him and his father did have a pleasant conversation with Junhyung. It made Hyunseung wondered a bit what he was doing for living. Is he an actor or what?

Of course, their so-called love story was the main topic of the night. Hyunseung’s mother was too eager to know it since she claimed that this was Hyunseung’s first love and it sent Hyunseung straight to his most embarrassing moment in life. But Junhyung, being the gentleman from the very beginning also claimed that this was his first relationship with a guy so he promised to take care of Hyunseung with all his might.

“We met for the first time 6 months ago at the coffee shop and I already like him at that moment. The second meeting was 2 days after that and knowing that this is our fate, I approached Seung in instant and we became friends after that. 2 months after that I confessed to him and here we are now” Junhyung gave his famous tender smile and Hyunseung wondered where Junhyung got this entire story to be told to his parents. To Hyunseung, it looked more like Junhyung was telling the real love story, his love story. He fixed his gaze at the smiling Junhyung. He looked so calm and honest. His smile was pure and he looked like he was thinking of someone dear to him when he was telling the story. Hyunseung can’t help but wondered if Junhyung really didn’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend or crush. Hyunseung was thinking so deeply about it till his father’s voice brought him back to reality.

“So you’re in 4 months of relationship. It’s still early and you both have a long way to go in this relationship. But I hope both of you can make it” his father’s voice sounded firm and it sent shiver down their spine. Hyunseung couldn’t help but feeling afraid of what would his father do when he found out that all of this was nothing but a piece of lie. They enjoyed the rest of the night talking about Junhyung and also shared some of Jang’s family stories.

After almost 3 hours of spending time there, Junhyung finally excused himself saying that he has to work tomorrow. Hyunseung sent him away to his car and he was glad that his father managed to stop his mom from following them to outside of the house. Hyunseung needed a little talk with Junhyung after all.

“Don’t you think you were a bit carried away?” Hyunseung asked once they both stood next to Junhyung’s car. The question made Junhyung to turn back and faced Hyunseung.

“What?”

“Your love story. Don’t you think it was a bit too much?” Hyunseung asked again, clearly dissatisfied with Junhyung’s reaction. Junhyung just shook his head.

“No. Like I told you before, we do this for real” and Junhyung smirked.

“You seem to enjoy it a bit too much” Hyunseung pouted.

“I am indeed. Now, I really have to go. I’ll see you around soon okay” Hyunseung nodded and Junhyung took this as a cue to get into his car and started the engine. He looked at Hyunseung and waved his hand.

“I’m leaving now, see you soon” and Hyunseung smiled.

“Okay. Drive safely”

“I will” and Junhyung drove off out of Hyunseung’s sight.

“So you have a boyfriend now” Doojoon said mockingly and Hyunseung raised his eyebrow in response. He was having a lunch with his friends Yoseob and Kikwang now. Doojoon just had to be there with them too.

“What’s with that tone?” Hyunseung asked in the same mocking tone Doojoon was using earlier while shoving the food into his mouth, completely ignored Doojoon’s disbelief look on him.

“Told you so, he just didn’t found the right one yet. But now he did” Yoseob exclaimed happily while smiling widely at Doojoon. Doojoon snorted loudly.

“Since when?” Doojoon asked; still not satisfied with Hyunseung’s current status. Hyunseung stopped eating and looked at Doojoon.

“Since last week. Why’d you care anyway?” but he still answered it nevertheless.

“What?! But you’re still single last week!”

“Not anymore. What are you? A policeman?” Hyunseung glared at Doojoon.

“Good. Now I don’t have to worry about you spreading your single lifestyle virus to my Yoseob” Doojoon sighed in content and Hyunseung had to roll his eyes. “And you--” Doojoon shot his glare at Kikwang now “Go and find yourself a boyfriend too” and Kikwang groaned in frustration while Hyunseung had to look at Doojoon mockingly while pouting his lower lip.

After the lunch and an endless mock exchanged between him and Doojoon, Hyunseung and his two closest friends went back to their office to continue with their work. Hyunseung was greeted by smiling Joon who was waiting in his office. He closed the door behind him and walked towards where Joon was sitting before settled down himself on the couch next to Joon.

“You had a surprisingly long lunch” Joon said in his usual happy tone and Hyunseung smiled. Joon was still his best ever friend.

“Yeah, Doojoon-hyung was with us today. Can’t help it” he sighed then leaned his back to the couch.

“So what is his today’s mock?”

“You know what it is”

“Your relationship with Junhyung-shi huh” and Hyunseung nodded. He stood up and walked towards his desk. Looking at the pile of files on his desk, he groaned and turned back to look at Joon.

“Want to help me a bit here?” Joon smiled and stood up as well.

“That’s why I’m here” he said while waving a blue file in his hand. Hyunseung gave him a confused look. Joon continued to talk when he realized that Hyunseung won’t say anything.

“You know about the upcoming trainee management course for our engineers and architects right. The Director wants you to handle this and I’ll be your assistant. We need to assign one company to provide us with the trainee course” he said while handed the file to Hyunseung. He opened the file and made a quick reading about the content.

“It’s in 4 months. Do you have any company in mind yet?” Joon shook his head.

“What about EZY Communications? We used their services before”

“Your father wants other company for this. He said he wants something new and fresh”

“We have about 2 months to find the company. Let see what I can do for this. But before that, I need your help with something first” and Joon nodded. Hyunseung handed him two big black files.

“Our customers’ accounts” he said when Joon sent her a questioning look. “Check their accounts and count their debts till the end of last month. After that, send them a letter to inform them about their current accounts. I have 3 more files to look at to. So please help me with this?” Hyunseung gave his best puppy eyes to persuade Joon to help him. Though he knew he didn’t have to do that because Joon will help him no matter what, he still did what he thought helpful.

“Sure!” and Joon’s questioning look changed to his usual cheerful look. Hyunseung blinked in happiness.

“Thank you! You’re the best!”
