The next morning, Chen and Joo-hyun were eating breakfast and getting ready for school. Min-soo was also getting ready for work when he stopped and looked at his daughter. He smiled.

“Have a good day at school honey, ok?” he got misty

“Daddy are you crying?” she got worried

“Today is another sad day,” he smiled somewhat

Realization dawned on Joo-hyun. Today was her mother’s birthday.

“What’s today?” asked Chen

“It’s my mother’s birthday,”

“It just breaks my heart that she isn’t in your life; you know guiding you through these teenage years. I know it must be tough,”

“Dad you’re doing a great job. Sure I miss her but I think we’ve managed just fine,”

“Well,” he kissed her forehead, “I don’t want to be a Debbie downer today, so you two have a good day. I will see you later tonight,” he left for work

Joo-hyun and Chen drove to school together. As she pulled into the parking lot she spotted Kai with his friends.

“Are you ready to do this?” asked Chen

“Yes but I’m sorry in advance if it makes you feel uncomfortable. I’m pretty sure Kai will be all over me,” she gave a pouty face to Chen which made him want to kiss her right there

“It’s ok I guess. Do I want my girlfriend to be hanging out with and kissing creepy Kai…”

“Wait, I’m your girlfriend?” she asked smiling

“Well when we confessed to each other and sealed it with a kiss, I was assuming that meant we were a couple,” he quickly squeezed her hand

Elsewhere Kai, Kris, Yuri, Luhan, Suho, Xiumin, Baekhyun and Yoona were having conversations on the school steps. Kai was all jittery and happy, finally Baekhyun spoke up

“Man the hell is your problem. You haven’t stopped moving?”

“I’m in a very good mood. The women of my dreams has finally accepted me and I’m going over right now to get her,”

“Alert the media, Kai has finally gotten a girlfriend.  It’s about time man, I was starting to become concerned,” said Luhan

“So where is the lucky lady?” asked Yuri

“She just pulled up,” he started walking towards her car

Yuri chuckled, “The only car that just pulled up was that loser Joo-hyun,”

Everyone turned to her with shocked expressions on their faces. Kris’ eyes suddenly got dark. Kai happily walked to Joo-hyun but got upset when he found Chen and Joo-hyun getting out of the car together. He became jealous.

“Hey babe,” he kissed her full on the mouth eyeing Chen, who didn’t react. Joo-hyun was caught off guard by the kiss

“Hey,”

“What’s going on?” he tried not to sound mad

“Well I just pulled up,”

“I mean with Chen being in your car,”

“Oh well he’s living with me and my Dad for awhile,”

“Why?” he was annoyed, “I mean he saved your life weeks ago. When someone does something nice like that you usually buy them a really nice gift; you don’t ask them to move in with you,”

“Well he has other circumstances and my Dad and I thought we would help him out,”

“You’re truly too nice Joo-hyun. Well thanks you saving her life Chen,”

“Yeah,” he started to walk away but Kai wasn’t finished

“But living with her is unacceptable. I have a good amount of money in my trust fund. I can put you in a nice hotel until you get back on your feet,” Chen was appalled, so was Joo-hyun. He had a lot of balls doing that

“Now that is unacceptable. Chen is a guest in my home, not yours. So he is staying. You have no right to tell him otherwise,”

Kai didn’t want to argue or make Joo-hyun upset so he quickly apologized to Chen, which he blew him off and Kai begged for Joo-hyun’s forgiveness. She accepted because she didn’t want problems. She had to be on his good side if she wanted answer; although she felt extremely bad for Chen. So bad she felt sick to her stomach. As they walked towards the school steps she felt every eye on her.

“Hey guys. Meet my new girlfriend,” Kai was a little too happy

The boys felt nervous because Kris was burning a hole through Joo-hyun’s head. If looks could kill everyone in the vicinity would be dead.

“Hey,” said a nervous Joo-hyun

“You have a lot of balls,” said Yu-ri, “So the rumors were true. You were messing with Kai while you were with Kris. Real classy,”

“Actually the rumors weren’t true,” she stood up for herself

“Well how do you date one guy for 3 years then move on so quickly to another guy?”

“Well I could ask Kris the same question. Right Kris, you and a Yuri have been joined at the hip ever since you dumped me. Wipe that disgusted look off your pathetic face. Why should I be the one being blamed when you set this in motion?”

“Well if only you trusted me. I wouldn’t have to break up with you,”

“You try to think clearly with a killer chasing you with a knife. I don’t have time to argue with dumb and dumber. I’m going to be late for class. Come on honey,” she grabbed Kai’s hand and went inside

News spread like wild fire that Kai and Joo-hyun was a couple. Jessica and Hyo-yeon were in the cafeteria goofing off with Jessica got the text from Yoona. She accidentally spit out her orange juice spraying the table.

“My gosh Jess, what the hell,”

Jessica didn’t have time to talk when she saw Joo-hyun and Kai come into the cafeteria hand in hand. Hyo-yeon’s eyes bulged out of her head and she gave them a dirty look.

Joo-hyun convinced Kai that she would eat lunch with him but she wanted to be with her friends. He kissed her goodbye and patted her as he left. With her back to him she gave her girlfriends a disgusted look.

“WHAT THE HELL!” Hyo-yeon was fuming

“Will you let me explain before you kill me?”

“Talk. Fast,”

“It’s not real,”

“Um that looks pretty real to me Joo-hyun. Unless my eyes are deceiving me and this text that Yoona sent me was a fake, but it looks as if you and Kai are a couple,” said Jessica

“That’s what I want him and everyone else to think but it’s not real. I feel bad for doing this to Kai even though he has become a possessive prick but I’m using him,”

“That definitely doesn’t sound like the Joo-hyun I know. You must know something juicy about him. Do tell,” said Hyo-yeon

She moved closer to the girls and began to whisper, “You have to promise me on everything you hold dear that you won’t breathe a word of this to anyone. I mean it. I caught hell for confronting Kai about this,”

“Spill,”

“Kris and Kai are half brothers,” both girls looked shocked

“What? How? And why am I just finding this out now?” asked Hyo-yeon

“I’ve been trying to call you but you’re always busy,” Hyo-yeon started blushing

“Well me and Lay have been busy,”

“Busy doing what?”

“Having lots and lots and lots of ,”

“Hyo-yeon TMI,” said Jessica

“I mean we could just be sitting on the couch watching TV then he’ll look at me and the next thing I know, my clothes are being ripped off, my tossed to the floor and then he’s ing me wildly…”

“Hyo-yeon shut up,” said Joo-hyun

“Oh and the amazing things he does with his tongue,” she shivered but stopped talking and looked at her friends

“We don’t want to know,” Jessica was giving her a look, “I’ve lost my appetite thanks to you,”

“Now can I continue with the story?” asked Joo-hyun

“Yes dear continue,”

“So Chen accidently told me. He said they have the same mother but Kris’ Dad is dead while Kai’s Dad disappeared. This is weird to me since I met both of Kris’ parents,”

“So he’s been lying to you, why?”

“My thoughts exactly. Apparently Kris hated Kai’s Dad. He actually lived with other family members,”

“So why did Kai get mad at you when you asked him?”

“I’m not sure but he kept telling me to leave it alone,”

“They don’t even act like they like each other but they are brothers. Makes me what to join in on your investigation,” said Jessica

“Yea I want to help too,” said Hyo-yeon, “Well I guess I have to keep this from Lay,”

“Lay knows,”

“How?”

“Back in middle school, the years I was in Korea, Lay and Kai were best friends. Actually 12 boys were best friends and you won’t believe which 12,”

“EXO,” Jessica piped in

“You know about them?”

“Well I transferred to the school after you left so I witnessed it all,”

“I don’t have a clue what you guys are talking about,” said Hyo-yeon

“Kai, Lay, Tao, Chen, Luhan, Suho, Baekhyun, Sehun, Chanyeol, DO, Xiumin and Kris were known as EXO. They were aliens from Exo planet with super hero powers,” they laughed, “They were all best friends. So I’m assuming they all shared their secrets,”

“Now that’s something I would love to see with both of my eyes,” said Hyo-yeon

“So you’re pretending to be Kai’s girlfriend to get the dirt on him. It’s sneaky but you can’t get caught. With the way he is acting now, I don’t know what will happen to you if you get caught,” said Jessica

“Yea he hasn’t been himself lately,”

“That’s because he’s on medication. He’s been really stressed out,”

“About what, we’re in high school. What can he possibly be stressed about? Worry he’s not going to be prom king,” said Hyo-yeon

“No. I overheard him and Yuri talking about something. They seemed pretty intense,” Joo-hyun had a flashback about what Chen had warned her last night about Yuri and Kai

“Did you hear anything?” asked Joo-hyun

“Something about getting black clothes and getting a cell phone. I don’t know why he would be stressed about that and it’s not like they lack in the money department,” they stood up to leave the cafeteria

“Joo-hyun,” Kai came running up to her, “Can you do me a quick favor. Since you’re heading in the direction of my locker, can you bring me my History paper?”

“Oh the 8 page paper one?”

“That’s the one,”

“Sure but I don’t know your locker combination,” Kai blushed

“Don’t feel weird or anything but it’s your birthday,”

“Well aren’t you the sweetest boyfriend in the world,” Hyo-yeon said sarcastically

Joo-hyun noticed the tension between them and pulled her girls away as she said, “I will get it for you and bring it to you after 3 period,”

“You’re the best,” he smiled at her

“I do try,” she smiled back

The girls teased Joo-hyun all the way to Kai’s locker.

“Will you two stop it,” she opened his locker and got his paper but before she could close it Jessica got nosy

“Let’s see what’s in the infamous Kai’s locker,”

“That’s invasion of privacy,” said Joo-hyun

“Oh who cares, I wanna see,” Hyo-yeon opened it wide

“Figures; typical guy. He has pictures of you which look kind of like he took these without your knowledge,” Jessica passed them around

“Oh that’s romantic and CREEPY,” said Hyo-yeon

“Guys put those back,” Joo-hyun quickly returned the pictures

“And he has books which are good and what do we have here,” Jessica took out a device. The girls gathered around

“What is that?” asked Hyo-yeon

“OMG, I actually know what this is. My cousin Wes is a film student at UCLA and he’s producing a scary movie. It’s a disguise voice charger. A person can disguise their voice hence the name,” she put it back and closed his locker

Joo-hyun’s stomach dropped and she looked extremely worried.

“What’s wrong Joo-hyun?” asked Hyo-yeon

“Why would Kai have that in his locker?”

“He’s weird and telling from today and everything we’ve seen thus far, it’s true,”

“Wait, open his locker back up and test it,”

“Why?”

“I just want to hear what it sounds like,”

“Ok,” Jessica opened the locker and took out the device, “What should I say,”

“Say hey baby how’s it going,” said Hyo-yeon

Jessica spoke into the device and it freaked the girls out but they just laughed.

“Ok, ok try I’m so y,” they continued to laugh then Joo-hyun got serious

“Jessica, try in your most evil, scariest voice, say your mother is a ,”

“Whoa Joo-hyun what are you talking about. It won’t change that much,” Jessica said with a concerned tone in her voice

“Try in a man’s voice. I just want to hear it,”

“Ok, your mother is a ,”

All the color drained from Joo-hyun’s face. Sure it seemed so farfetched that the killer could be Kai but why would he need black clothes, a cell phone and a disguise voice charger. It freaked her out so bad. She grabbed the device out of Jessica’s hands and closed the locker.

“Are you ok?” asked Hyo-yeon

“No. We can’t talk here. We’ll talk later,”

“Ok,” they seemed worried to leave her but they went their separate ways. Little did they know, they had eyes watching them the whole time.

Joo-hyun couldn’t concentrate in class the whole day. Jessica speaking in the voice charger kept re-playing in her head over and over again. If she was going to pretend to be Kai’s girlfriend it could mean serious danger for her but she was determined now. Before lunch Joo-hyun was walking to give Kai his History paper when she came upon him and Kris having a serious heated conversation.

“You better watch your back. Your sweet little girlfriend was snooping,”

“Why the hell do you care!” said Kai

“She’s going to ruin everything. Do you want that to happen?”

“Mind your own business; she’s not your concern anymore. You made that very clear when you broke up with her. Why do you have to ruin everything for me?”

“Fine your funeral,” Kris walked away mad

Kai was frustrated with Kris. He ran his hands through his hair when Joo-hyun walked up to him holding his paper and a smile. She just realized she had to be extra sneaky from now on.

“Hey babe, you ok? Kris giving you a tough time,”

“I think he’s jealous,”

“Well he should be. I have the sweetest boyfriend,” she kissed him on the mouth just as Chen was walking by accident. She quickly looked at him and semi smiled.

“What would I do without you?”

“Die?” He quickly looked at her with a serious expression on his face, “What’s wrong Kai,” she grabbed his hand

“Nothing. See you at lunch?”

“Of course,” she walked away towards the girls’ bathroom. Suddenly a set of strong pairs of hands pulled her in with a hand over . She came face to face with a fuming Kris…
