This is a story that was inspired by BigBang's Monster song and music video. Don't steal my work. I wrote it. It's mine.

Foreword
NINE YEARS AGO
I scuffed my pink sneakers in the dirt, watching shyly as the other kids jumped into the lake.
“Why aren’t you swimming?” A boy with wavy brown hair came up next to me.
“Why aren’t you swimming?” I asked back, eyeing his dry clothes.
“I dunno how to swim.” He replied, staring blankly at the water.
“Oh.” I mutter. “That’s a pretty good reason.”
He grins broadly at me, and I smile shyly back.
“Kang Daesung.” He introduces himself, shaking my hand.
“Bu Minji.” I reply, looking again at the water.
“Is this your first year at camp?” He asks, and I shake my head no.
“Do you…know anyone here?” He prods, and I shake my head no again.
“Liar, you know me,” he says, grinning, and I laugh.
“So…why aren’t you swimming?” Daesung asks again, and I stare at the edge of the dark lake.
“There’re monsters in the lake.” I tell him quietly, and he blinks at the water.
“Monsters?” He asks.
“Yeah. Monsters.”
