Stalker
There's Only Two Things You Must Do Today: Breathe In, Breathe OutCarolyn’s POV
I needed to hurry; my younger brother’s Confirmation was in twenty minutes! I needed to quickly buy him a
card, because the one I had hand-made him was eaten by the dogs. Ugh. I rushed into Hallmark and picked
out the best card I could find for a Religious celebration and turned to the register. The mall was
overflowing with people. I pushed my way to the front of the line apologizing and excusing myself the whole
time. I felt bad for pushing ahead but this was an emergency!
After purchasing the card, I ran out of the store towards the entrance I came in from. If course it had to
be on the other side of the mall. As I passed the food court I heard my stomach rumble. Crap. I had
forgotten to eat before we left! There were long lines at every counter. I knew McDonalds was fast, but
the thought of eating something so greasy so early made me gag. But it was better than nothing. I quickly
got in line. Soon a billion people were behind me. One boy in particular stood out. He was a skinny Asian with
obviously dyed brown hair. I also noticed that he had both highlights and lowlights….weird for a boy. He had
this huge smile plastered on his face. It was kinda sorta beautiful. I quickly turned away to the front of the
line so I could hide my blushing. I quickly ordered something quick and figured I could eat in the car.
Ten minutes left! Ah!
As I was leaving the food court I saw my best friend, Becca, standing with her boyfriend, Jinki. He was
Korean…apparently he was in a famous band called SHINee. I wasn’t really into K-pop. I stuck to my Muse
and My Chemical Romance. Becca always scolded me when I blasted them at sleepovers. Especially Slipknot.
Anyways, I figured I’d text her in the car to tell her I saw her. But I didn’t have the time to say Hi right
now. She’d understand. Besides she probably wanted alone time with her boyfriend. They rarely saw each
other since he was always on tours or in South Korea for promotions and whatnot.
As I passed the hair salon outside of Macys I got a strange feeling of someone watching me. I turned
around and saw that Asian boy again! Omg, he was looking at me with the same smile on his face…almost as
if he followed me! Creepy! I fastened my pace and sped walked into Macys. The entrance I came in from
was at the other side of the store, straight ahead.
Once I reached the door, I tried to pull it open. When it didn’t budge I realized it was a Push, not Pull door.
I glanced around to see if anyone noticed my embarrassing mistake. I blushed when I saw the creepy Asian.
I pushed out the door and ran towards my car. My dad had driven me since I was too young to drive. Before
I reached the Subaru, I heard someone yelling behind me.
“Miss! Miss!”
I looked behind me to see that boy yelling at me. He was frantically waving his arms in the air trying to get
my attention. His smile had been replaced with a look of panic. I wasn’t sure if I should go to him or run to
the car. But once he saw me notice him, his beautiful smile returned to his face. I had to go to him now!
I slowly made my way over to the fake brunette. I looked him dead in the eye and said as coolly as I could,
“What do you want.” He looked at me through light blue contact lenses. I felt a pang of disappointment,
because what straight guy would dye his hair that drastically AND wear colored contacts. That’s right.
None. I sighed and waited for his response.
“I’d like to know your name…” his thick accent was adorable.
“What for?” I came to the conclusion he was a stalker.
“….b-because I need to know.” He glanced toward his feet. I wasn’t sure if I should tell him my name or
kick him in the nuts and make a run for it. I decided against the latter when I saw him nervously smile at
me.
“…Carolyn.”
