Carolyn’s POV
After the Mass I checked my phone again. Taemin texted me twice since I stopped responding. The first
one was a response to my last text and the second one was an apology for bothering me at my brother’s
Confirmation. I didn’t think anything of it until it hit me. How’d he know I was at my brother’s
Confirmation?! I texted him my thoughts. A few minutes went by before I got another message. “Ah!
Sorry that probably sounded creepy. My good friend’s girlfriend is Becca, your best friend!”
My eyes widened. I quickly dialed her number.
“Hello~”
“BECCA! You know Taemin? The creepy Asian at the mall?” She laughed on the other line.
“Yepp, he is the maknae of SHINee.”
“The really famous Kpop group Onew is in?”
“Yeah, he is the dancer.”
“….he’s cute.”
“CAROLYN!”
“What?!” We both laughed together. “He’s cute. What can I say? His smile…is breathtaking.”
“…psh. Not as breathtaking as Onew’s,” I could hear him laugh in the background.
“Wait…are you alone?”
“Nope. I’m with the guys!”
“Becca!” I was slightly annoyed. But then I asked, “…Is Taemin there?”
“…yeah.”
“Could you put him on?” I started to blush.
She laughed, “haha sure!...Taemin?” I could hear him say something in the background. “Phone’s for
you. It’s Carolyn.” I heard rustling on the other line then his voice.
“Carolyn?”
“Yes, Tae?” He giggled into the phone as response, I continued. “It was nice meeting you today…but I
have a question. Why’d you follow me?”
“Oh…well I was people-watching sitting in front of Hallmark, because Key-umma and Jonghyun-hyung
were going to another store. I saw you and…well I had a strange urge to meet you. I’m not sure why. I
am sorry if I scared you. I didn’t mean to.”
I laughed. “It’s okay Tae. I don’t mind. I’m just glad you aren’t a serial killer or something. By the way,
Becca said you were in SHINee? Why didn’t you say anything!”
“I didn’t think you’d know who we were…and besides I thought it’d be better…not as much drama.”
“I guess, but Becca makes out well-”
He cut me off, “I’d say. I see her do that with Onew all the time…”
I snorted. I covered my face with one hand in embarrassment. I just heard him laugh on the other line. It
was the first time since meeting him did he sound like a man. He quickly stopped, and I could tell he
forced himself to. He had such a nice laugh…I didn’t understand why he held it in.
“That’s not what I meant…but okay. I’ll take your word for it! Also, if you really wanted to be friends, you
do realize you would’ve had to tell me sooner or later.” He sighed.
“I know. I also know I barely know you. But I already really like you.”
“Oh, really? Well we should hang out soon! How long are you here for?”
“We have a month off since SMent has been working on promotions for Exo…they are really working
hard. Kai isn’t too happy that we have off and they don’t.” he laughed, “but we had just finished a tour
so we get a break! It’s really exciting.”
“That’s wonderful! Congrats!”
“Thank you! Umm..I have to go Becca wants me to get off her phone. She keeps saying I’m using up all
her minutes...”
I laughed and responded with, “Okay Tae, could you put her on real quick though?”
“Yes, sure. Hope to see you soon.”
“Yes. Soon.” I smiled into the phone but then frowned when I heard Becca’s Hello? “..you couldn’t have
given us one more minute?! You know I think he’s cute!”
“Yeah, but I didn’t think you’d go after a guy you only met today!”
“Hey! You and Onew started going out two days after meeting!”
“Yeah, but that was love at first sight. We were meant to be.”
I could hear the confidence in her voice. “Yeah. True! But why can’t Taemin and I have the same thing? I
mean, how coincidental was it that he saw me, followed me, then turned out to know you? I think there
is some fate in there. But that’s only if you ask me.”
“Well, no one asked you! ” I heard the sarcasm in her voice. I stuck out my tongue, even though I knew
she couldn’t see it.
“But think of what the future could hold! If I got together with him, we could all move to South Korea
and live with our boys! And be together! Wouldn’t that be awesome?”
“Well yeah…”
“Talk to him for me? Pleeease?”
“Fiiiiine.”
She hung up after promising to text me later.
I spent the rest of the night watching SHINee interviews and listening to their music. Wasn’t my usual
type of music, but it wasn’t half bad. It just might take some getting used to. They all had amazing voices,
a group of very talented guys. Very talented. I watched the first episode of Hello Baby before I went to
bed.
My conclusion: Taemin was adorable.
