Claiming Woohyun

A/N: I just realized that my updates would come now in a different time than before. :)) Enjoy this long chapter.

It was already midnight when Sunggyu stepped out of his room. The hunger he felt couldn't be ignored anymore. As he rummaged in the kitchen, he found some left-over kimchi stew and tonkatsu in the refrigerator. He re-heated everything and while waiting, he was leaning on the kitchen counter still in daze because of everything that happened in two days.

Being scolded by the DC chairman came as a surprise to them at the student council. They didn't anticipate that they would be lectured right away after only one violation of Woohyun, although it was not the first time for them to be scolded.

Just like what he used to do, he shielded his co-officers from everything and he single-handedly took the blame. He knew that Woohyun had advertently done it to aggravate him. It was a personal problem between them and he couldn't let his friends suffer from the punitive words of the DC chairman. The chairman might be kind, but he was still a cruel bastard who they called psychotic at times.

Student council being the right-hand man of the discipline committee was a punishment itself. Countless of times when they had to submit multiple incident reports that happened in a day, all of the officers would be called for a 'meeting' just to get scolded. They were used to it. They learned not to take every word by heart and they just did their obligations as usual.

Ever wonder why he only gave cleaning as punishments? As a student, he didn't have the heart to make the students suffer. It might be a tough punishment for everyone to clean without any cleaning supplies, garden without equipment, or memorize something that would drain all their brain cells. However, that was the worst thing he could do and it worked for most of the students. If it were up to the DC, they would suffer far more than cleaning and gardening.

All members of student council opposed corporal punishment proposed by the discipline committee. It was a secret that only student council knew. They weren't in favor of inflicting pain as a form of castigating school delinquents. No one in school knew how the student council fought for the well-being of every student. Thus, when they convinced the DC that there were other ways, the SC all opted for menial tasks such as cleaning or something that would academically challenge them.

However, it might change soon. He wouldn't breakdown if he didn't have a valid reason. Corporal punishment would be imposed and it would be posted on the bulletin board on Friday. All because of Woohyun.

The student council officer's life would start to get ed up. Because it would be them who would give the punishment. The blood would be on their hands and not on the DC's. Those damn discipline committee members just want to be in charge of suspensions and expulsions; other than that, they would task the SC.

It was revolting. Corporal punishment would always be an inhumane thing to do. Begging the chairman not to enforce it made him feel disgusted with himself. He couldn't do it. The other officers still had no idea of what was bound to happen. He still has to meet them.

After washing everything he used to eat, he strolled outside by the pool to take a breather. He was furious, upset, and scared. Since he left the DC office, his tears never stopped. The heavy feeling looming inside him was excruciating. He feared for the student's welfare. Though he was blaming Woohyun for it, he was also scared that one day, he would have to physically hurt him because he was asked to.

*****

Woohyun woke up thirsty. He wandered down to get water only to find his husband eating in the kitchen. There was a part of him that wanted to walk towards him to ask for forgiveness. However, there was also a part of him that was anxious to do so. He was scared that Sunggyu was still mad at him. Scared that he would say something wrong that would make everything more terrible than it already was. So, he just waited for him to finish eating and to return to his room before getting his water.

However, Sunggyu didn't go back. He saw him opening the sliding door to the pool area and headed outside. When he checked the time, it was already 1:30am. It was the start of cold season and his husband wasn't wearing any jacket when he ventured out. In spite of his desire to scold him for being careless, he had no right to do so if he was the one who had hurt him.

Woohyun walked back to his room to get a thick hoodie and medium-sized wool blanket for his husband. It was not time to be afraid of approaching him when he knew he would get sick from cold.

As he approached the sliding door, he could see him curled up again and hiding his head in his arms. When he got nearer, he could hear his sobs again. It was the first time he had witnessed Sunggyu crying all night. He had no idea what had ensued, but seeing his husband in that state made him apprehensive.

He uneasily approached Sunggyu, draping the jacket and the wool sheet over him. His husband looked at him and cried more.

"Ssshhh... I'm here baby. "Tell me what happened." He wrapped his arms around him and rubbed circles on his back for comfort.

Sunggyu snuggled against his chest and held him tight. "Please don't get in trouble again. Tell your friends to stop all the mischief"

Woohyun frowned. In light of the fact that he won the first part of the bet, his husband believed that his friends wouldn't cause any further problems soon. However, the way Sunggyu was begging him to stop them made him wonder why.

"Zi, tell me what really happened. You wouldn't cry like this if it was merely because of being scolded. What did the chairman do or say to you?"

"Just stay out of trouble Woohyun. You will know soon."

He couldn't press for answers anymore. Sunggyu wouldn't be telling him, so it was likely an official school matter that was going to be announced shortly.

After a while, he heard his husband asked something. "Can you sleep in my room?"

"Of course, baby. Let's go in, it's really cold here. You're going to get sick."

Woohyun knew that if their parents found out that they slept in the same room, he would be lectured to death. However, his husband needed him and who was he to deny it? His mother would smother him but he would worry about that in the morning.

He cuddled Sunggyu and gave him a comforting hug who in turn was clinging to him like a koala. It was his chance to apologize.

"Baby, I'm sorry. I know I broke my promise. Sorry for getting you in trouble with the DC. Dongwoo told me. I won't do it again."

"It's fine baby. I'm sorry I got overboard. I know why you suddenly rebel. It was because of me."

Sunggyu blaming himself was the last thing he wanted to see. He tried telling him not to because it was all his fault for being an emotional teenager.

He asked why he kept it a secret from him that all of them at the student council suffered from the hands of the discipline committee because of them. However, his husband didn’t want to talk about it, saying that it was fine.

It was a lie. He could see through his husband that he was lying. But he didn’t press more.

Yet, he couldn’t get off his mind what his husband said.

Baby if I tell you everything, your temper will bring out the worse in you. I know how protective you are of me. I don’t want you to get in trouble. Please, just let it be. It’s fine. I’m okay.

Those words only proved what Dongwoo told him. He now knew the reason why Sunggyu kept him in the dark about it.

Sunggyu shifted on his embrace and it roused him from his trance. He could see that his eyes were already drooping.

"I love you baby." Woohyun heard his husband muttered sleepily.

Woohyun kissed Sunggyu's forehead as his eyes fluttered shut.

Friday came and the students were all crowding in front of the bulletin board. Woohyun and his friends were curious what the fuss was all about. Everyone made way for the four students when they saw them.

Please don't get in trouble again. Tell your friends to stop all the mischief.

Sunggyu's desperate voice echoed in his ears. He now understood why his husband was breaking down three days ago. The Discipline Committee were throwing the student council under the bus while they would come clean if anything turned out wrong.

At the back of his mind, Woohyun had a nagging feeling that he was the reason. Then he remembered what Dongwoo told him.

Pathetic wasn't it? You screwed up only now after almost a year and DC is blaming us.

If you really like our president, please stop what you’re doing because you don’t know what Sunggyu was going through everyday just to save everyone’s asses here.

His hands curled into a ball. He was furious with the school, but mostly at himself. If he had just controlled his emotions and thought sensibly, the student council wouldn't be put in such position.

Woohyun ran toward the student council’s office where he found all the officers with a dreary look on their faces.

"It was my fault wasn't it?" All looked at him when they heard his unyielding voice.

No one spoke or answered him. It only cemented his suspicion. He bolted out the door and dashed irately to the DC office. But before he could knock, a hand prevented him from doing so.

Zico and Dongwoo pulled him out of the building.

"What are you planning Woohyun?" asked Dongwoo.

"I would talk to the chairman and ask him to rescind their decision. I would take every punishment they or you would give me just to not have Sunggyu and every one of you do it."

Woohyun pulled his hands from the VP and the secretary. He was determined to march back inside when he heard Sunggyu's voice.

"Let it go Woohyun. Do you think I never begged them? I already did. Do you know how low it made me feel begging for something that would save all your asses from cruelty when some of you don’t deserve it? So, mind your own business and stop interfering with ours."

Amidst everything, he remembered that he and Sunggyu were still wrapped up in their school drama and they couldn't let go of it. The last part of the bet was still ongoing and they had to hold on to their plan. It was the only way to tame his friends; to keep them out of trouble. However, the image of his husband begging to the psycho chairman made his blood boil.

Zico tried persuading him. "Hyun, your boyfriend is right. And you would get us in trouble more since you and Sunggyu are in a relationship. Please just let it go."

He sighed and looked at his husband who was anything but looking at him. "Ok. But can you two leave me with Sunggyu?"

When the two left, he maintained a decent distance from Sunggyu before talking.

"Baby, why didn't you tell me right away? I know it's my fault. Why do you have to beg? You could’ve told me and I would be the one to do that for you because it was me who screwed things up."

"It wouldn't make any difference. Just promise me to stay out of trouble." He saw him checking his watch. "We'll talk at home. Go to your class."

Sunggyu walked away from where they were standing but not long enough, he received a message from him saying not to worry and he would be fine.

Woohyun was certain that his husband was blaming himself and it was all because of his stupidity.

*****

The whole school was engulfed in silence for the whole morning. It was as if everyone were walking on thin ice, scared of making a mistake that would send them to hell. If previously they were frightened by student council's presence, students now were more terrified of them.

The ambiance calmed down when lunch time came. The usual noise heard inside the canteen became music in everyone's ears. The students enjoyed the bright atmosphere surrounding the entire cafeteria. Everything returned to normal, though they were wary of the SC's presence. Eventually, Sungjong couldn't take the calculated moves any longer.

Sungjong stood up and got everyone to listen to him.

"Listen everyone, I know all of you were shocked by the DC's decision. But that was that. We couldn't do anything about it. We tried to overturn it but they were firm. Staying out of trouble and following the school rules are your only options. So, don't make this more difficult than it already was."

After Sungjong's brief speech, Sunggyu mouthed a thank you. He would address the announcement sooner but Sungjong took the initiative and he was appreciative for that. More than any other person on the SC, students were mostly afraid of him.

The thing about the announcement, there weren't really any changes at all except for the punishment itself. Punishment that they all hated to do. They would rather have all the students who violated the rules clean the disgusting court by hand than to make them endure hell.

Everyone continued with their lunch until Woohyun's group came in and sat down at their designated table. All couldn't help but notice the menacing aura of Woohyun. Because of the dark atmosphere emanating from the school king, the whole canteen was on edge. It wasn't normal for them to see that side of him. The Woohyun they knew was flirty and rowdy, not the notorious and scary one.

Dongwoo nudged Sunggyu who in turn looked at him quizzically.

"Your boyfriend there was making the whole canteen uncomfortable. Talk to him."

Sunggyu peered at his husband and saw the dark expression he usually exhibited when mad. Exhaling, he turned his look away from him. He already told him that they would talk at home. And he was sure, Woohyun wouldn't do anything at the moment no matter how angry he was. Because his husband knew, he would be the one paying for any trouble he would cause.

"Why would I? Already talked to him this morning. If he wanted to be like that, then let him."

"Why are you two in a relationship if you don't want to have to do anything with him?" Minhyuk interrupted, who happened to catch Dongwoo's question.

Sunggyu jeered. "As if we got into a relationship because of feelings. Our relationship is a result of challenges that he unbelievably won. So, nothing changed, I still don't like him."

Zico on the other hand, kept his mouth shut. Woohyun was in love with Sunggyu and yet, the latter hated him. There was no way Sunggyu would like the other after everything Woohyun and his friends put them through. Even more so now that Woohyun triggered the DC for physical punishment. A reason that had to remain a secret to the school as a whole.

Zico shook his head. If he continued thinking of his two strange friends, he would drive himself crazy. It was their thing anyway.

*****

Later that night, Woohyun and Sunggyu both returned home, weary from the dreadful feeling they had. The whole school day was uneventful due to the shocking news from the student council.

"Who died? Why are both of you so glum? Are you two fighting again?" Mr. Nam couldn't help but ask. The couple was sitting at the table just playing with their food.

Woohyun replied to his father. "Nothing dad. Just school stuff that you don't want to know." There was a stinging pain that he felt on his thighs. He looked at his husband who was shaking his head.

"Now you two have piqued our interest. Tell us. Maybe we could help."

It was Sunggyu who explained everything. However, he skipped the main reason why the discipline committee had to impose such cruel punishment. They didn't need to know that their own son trigg
