CHAPTER 14

Wendy didn’t return the hug, she just stood there unmoving but at the bottom of her heart she wishes she has the power to freeze this very moment. To stay in Irene’s arms like this, to feel her warmth that she hasn’t felt for so long.

She couldn’t help but feel sad on how now that they are not together anymore, Irene would give her something she’s dying to receive when they were together. And with a little sanity left, Wendy cleared .

As if a cold water was poured into her, Irene pulled back quickly “I-I’m sorry.” shock was clearly evident on her face from what she just did. “I didn’—“

“It’s okay.” Wendy gave her a reassuring smile “Just getting back from schedules?”

“N-no, I was uh… walking around getting some air.” Irene answered, and then followed by silence, awkward silence to be specific.

It’s been so long since the last time it’s just the two of them together and it’s didn’t really help that Wendy just got back from Canada and that they haven’t seen each other nor hear their voices for almost three months, at least for Wendy. Irene would save and listen to the voice messages Wendy would send in their group chat, watch her video messages non-stop and stare at her photos until she fell asleep, that’s what she’s been doing ever since Wendy left. 

“Wendy unnie? Wendy unnie!!!” Yeri who peeked out the door scream as she jumped on to Wendy

“Oh, did you miss me?” Wendy asked chuckling while hugging Yeri back.

“Seungwan!?” Seulgi who came rushing hearing Yeri and joined the group hug.

Irene’s POV

I misses her like crazy that’s why I couldn’t hold myself back the moment I saw her and I would be lying if I said that it didn’t hurt when she didn’t return the hug. I won’t even care even if it’s fake and not the same big bright smile like she’s giving to Yeri and Seulgi or even if it is forceful, cold and unfriendly hug I will still take it and thank her for it, but I guess even those are a luxury that I cannot have for all the pain I’ve caused her

End of POV

“Oh my God!” Wendy couldn’t help but screamed as soon as soon as she opened her eyes. “What are you doing?”

“I’m waiting for you to wake up.” Joy answered causally

Wendy sat up “And you couldn’t just wait for me at outside?”

“I thought it might do you good if you wake up with a beautiful face in front of you.” Joy answered giving her a pretty smile.

“I thought you were a ghost or something. You scared me.” Wendy told her

“That’s because I miss you.” Joy said almost pouting “I got home very late last night because of the shoot and you were dead tired sleeping.”

Last night, Wendy excused herself almost immediately to rest. Pretending to look away and acting like she doesn’t notice the weight of Irene’s stare is far more exhausting than the whole flight back.

“I’m here letting you see my pretty face first thing in the morning for you to actually experience what a good morning really means.”

Wendy chuckles “A scary but great morning indeed and I miss you too.”

“I would love to go on just catch up with you but I have a shoot how about we go drink and celebrate after I’m done with the shoot?” Joy asked “Let’s have fun just like last time.”

“Last time made me realize how different your description of fun is to mine”

“But you did have fun.” Joy said in a matter-of-fact tone

Wendy chuckles “I certainly did. So, yeah, sure. Let’s have fun later.”

“Trust me we will.” She said winking then went out of the room.

“Why didn’t I get a memo that we’ll be having the welcome party tonight?” Yeri asked, feeling betrayed looking at her three unnies

“Because you might be busy.” Seulgi answered

“And you might be tired, I don’t want to bother you.” It was Wendy

“What they meant is, you are weak when it comes to drinking Yeri-ah.” Joy said teasingly “You’re no fun here.”

“Yah! I can handle my alcohol just fine.” Yeri said in defense as she sits beside Joy “You two can’t.”

Seulgi choked and caught from what Yeri said then eyed the younger girl.

“How would you know? I never had a drink with you before.” Wendy asked

“I just know, okay.” Yeri answered as she took a glass of soju “I just know.”

“Didn’t Irene unnie get a memo too?” Yeri asked as she looked around

“She’s still on her schedule when I called her earlier but she’s probably on her way back now.” It was Seulgi

After an hour or two, Irene appeared on the door.

“Oh, you’re here.” Seulgi welcomed her as she took the food she had on her hand

“Unnie, come join us.” It was Joy who were now making fun of Yeri “This is kid is weak.”

“I-I’m not!” Yeri said, slapping Joy’s hand on her face and then grinned to Irene “I’m not drunk unnie, I’m totally fine.”

“Yeah, that’s what drunken people say.” Irene told her

“Seungwan’s in the kitchen.” Seulgi said when she noticed Irene looking around

Irene just nodded, there’s no use lying that she’s not looking for her when it’s totally obvious

“Oh, hi…” Wendy comes back after a few seconds “How’s work?”

Must’ve been the alcohol, Irene thought. Wendy used to ask her that every time she comes back home when they were still together but stop when they broke up. Still, she couldn’t help but smile “Not as fun as you four were having.”

Wendy chuckles then looked at Yeri “She’s so bad at handling alcohol. I swear we only gave her few but then some people were as bad as her when it comes to drinking, like you.”

“I-I’m not.” Irene said but almost wavering

“You were so bad it, I had to carry you on my back when you only got few shots.” Wendy tease, Irene could clearly see the redness on her face but it definitely not a blush, she’s a little drunk.

“That’s because my condition wasn’t good at that time.” She reasoned

Wendy didn’t say anything but she grinned at her teasingly as if telling her how ridiculous that sounds.

“I’m really not in a good condition that time.” She said firmly, her tone went a little higher

“Right.” Wendy said nodding, still grinning at her

“Don’t say right while you’re giving me that smile that obviously says that you don’t believe me.” Irene said like a child whining

Wendy kept her expression straight “I believe you.”

“No, you don’t.”

Wendy broke into a smile that turns into laughter “No, I don’t.”

“Son Seungwan you…” Irene said paused as she looked at Wendy who was still laughing, and then suddenly she broke into a big smile too.

“Son Seungwan, you’re right, is what you’re trying to say, right?” Wendy said teasing her

“No.” Irene answered with a straight face

But instead of words, Wendy gave her another teasing smile.

Irene looked away then shut her eyes for a moment as she tries hard not to smile on Wendy’s antics but miserably failed because she’s now smiling from ear to ear.

“Well, I’d ask you to stay and drink with us but you’re probably not in a good mood right?” Wendy still teasing her

“Well…” She paused looking at Wendy who for some reason she feels like have an expectant look “I’d love to stay but I have to go out early tomorrow.” she said apologetically, it’s already 1 in the morning and she have to leave at 6, if it were up to her, she’s more than willing to stay.

“Is that so?” The disappointment on Wendy’s expression didn’t go unnoticed by Irene, Wendy smiled “Maybe next time then.”

It’s been an hour since Irene went inside her room but all she did was toss and turn. She had this urged to call her manager and tell them to cancel whatever schedules she has tomorrow, she wanted to spend time with them especially with Wendy and from what happen earlier, her hope of getting back with went higher but why does she has to have a schedule tomorrow. But she also knows how unprofessional it is to cancel the event for tomorrow.

In the end, she sighed dejectedly and chose to throw her phone on the bedside table and tries to sleep. After a few seconds her phone rang, she lazily looked at it and answered quickly when she saw the managers’ name.

As if an answered prayer, her manager told her that the schedule for monitor got cancelled and she was more than happy to receive that message. She almost run out of her bed towards the door with a big smile only to disappear when she opened the door and heard something that broke her heart.

“So, now that Seungwan unnie is back, are you two going to be officially together?” Yeri asked squinting, fighting her lids from completely shutting down.

Seulgi panicked as soon as those words left Yeri’s mouth, she smiled at them awkwardly “I think we should let Yerimie rest, she’s totally drunk.” Seulgi said as she grab Yeri’s arm.

Yeri slapped her hand lightly “I-I’m not drunkkk, Seulgi-unniiee.”

Seulgi laughed awkwardly “Eyy, come one.” She said as she tries to pull her up again

“I know what… I’m… saying.” She said trying not to jumble her words “I know you know what I’m saying.”

“Seul…” It was Wendy, Seulgi now glance at Joy and Wendy who had a question look.

Seulgi shook her head “I have no idea what she’s saying.”

“Eyy, tch, fine… I’ll say it.” Yeri said looking at the two “I know that you two… s-slept together. Don’t deny it, I saw it with my own eyes.” She said pointing her finger to her eyes “M-my two innocent eyes, saw ittttt!”

Seulgi shut her eyes as she curse mentally.

“If you two… are happy… I’ll be happy… f-for youuu toooo.” Sluring “Just tell Joohyun-unnie yourself okay. It’ll hurt her more… if she finds it out… to s-someone e-elsee.”

If Irene were holding something on her hands, she’s definitely going to drop it. Like a bomb that was drop in front of her. She couldn’t move, she couldn’t think, she could only feel and it was her heart shattering inside her.

After several seconds, she closes the door shut and that’s when the tears came. Her knees losing all its strength, she dropped on the floor as she put a hand on to stop the sound of sobbing gasps of pain to escape.

She cries in pain, pain that came from the place that had held hope and dreams she has with Wendy.

Hope and dreams that now lay shattered and broken on the ground together with her heart.

“Are you saying that you saw me and Seungwan unnie having with your two not innocent eyes?” Joy asked laughing “Oh, God that sounds so weird.”

“I saw you in our room, in your bed!”

“Are you sure it wasn’t Seulgi and someone else?” It was Wendy who now joins the laughter

“Y-yah! It wasn’t me.” Seulgi said who have a mortified look “Why would I have with someone else’s bed?”

“But that’s just ridiculous. If Seungwan unnie and I had like you were saying, don’t you think we will at least do it someplace faraway here?” Joy pointed out “And not where Irene unnie could walk on us?”

Yeri shakes her head “I know what I saw, you can’t trick me.”

“And what exactly did you saw?” Wendy asked

“Clothes everywhere, bottles of soju everywhere, trash everywhere and you two together on your bed.” Yeri recites like she wasn’t drunk.

“Omo! Seungwan unnie.” Joy looked at Wendy in shock “She totally caught us.”

“Totally! I can’t believe she caught us having .” Wendy said as she and Joy both stare at each other

“I kne—“ Yeri was interrupted by the sudden outburst or laughter coming from Joy and Wendy.

“I never thought that I will hear, you and me and in one sentence.” Joy said laughing as Yeri passed out and drop her head on the table.

“So, are you saying that you two didn’t?” It was Seulgi who doesn’t now care about Yeri.

“No!” Wendy and Joy answered in unison

“Then why are you two in your bed?” Seulgi asked again, not believing them

“First of all, we weren’t completely , okay. We just had some truth or dare game which we can totally play right now and second, unnie was too drunk to walk to your room” Joy explained

“And I didn’t want to get Yeri’s bed dirty that’s why I slept on Joy’s bed and again not completely . Just some t-shirt and pants off.” Wendy added “I can’t believe you guys thought that Joy and I would have .”

“Trust me, I can’t believe it myself when Yerimie told me but it’s not something she would lie about. Thank God that she was wrong and that you didn’t” Seulgi said in relief

 “W-wait!” Wendy almost screaming “Did you guys? Please tell me you didn’t.” she said almost begging

“What tell Joohyun unnie?” Seulgi asked

Wendy just stares at her, holding her breath.

“Yerimie and I swore that we’d never tell her and that we should take that secret in our grave” Seulgi said that made Wendy breathe normally again.

“I’d have with you Seulgi unnie.” Joy said out of the blue that totally mortified Seulgi

“W-why w-would you…” Seulgi doesn’t even want to finish to the word.

“All I’m saying is I‘ll do it with anyone else but definitely not with Seugwan unnie because if I do it with Seungwan unnie…” Joy said leaning to Seulgi whispering “Joohyun unnie will kill us both.”

“Like totally, brutally dead.” Wendy whispered too “Hyunnie is a scary woman.”
