“What’s bothering you?” Lisa asked her best friend as she sits across her inside Jennie’s office. They were supposed to be talking about the launch party, the same project Rosie’s been working on but Jennie seemed to be preoccupied on something else.

“Huh? Nothing” Jennie denied

“Everything okay with Jisoo unnie?”

“Yeah yeah everything’s great”

“Then what is it? I know something’s bothering you”

Jennie contemplated for a while, there’s no point in lying to her best friend, she’s known her for years, and besides Lisa might be able to help so she decided to tell her the truth “It’s just that, Soojoo keeps on asking Jisoo out.”

Lisa nodded, somehow she knew that it had something to do with Jisoo “Okay and? Haven’t they gone out a few times before?”

“Yes but this time it’s different, she keeps telling Jisoo she has something to tell her and that she can only tell her in person”

“What is it about?”

Jennie pursed her lips before answering “I don’t know; they haven’t really had the chance to hang out”

“Why?”

“Because I kept intervening” Jennie answered sheepishly

The younger girl rolled her eyes, she knew Jennie could sometimes be a little territorial “I mean why? They’re friends, what are you worried about?”

“I’m worried that she might.. you know.. confess her undying love for my girlfriend” she sighed.

“And what if she does? It doesn’t mean Jisoo would love her back”

“I know. I know. It’s just that, I’m worried and -scared that Jisoo might realize that there are better people out there for her than me”

“Don’t think that. That will never happen. Jisoo unnie loves you”

“You of all people know the person I was, Lis”

“Yes, you may be a douche and a player in the past but you are not a bad person Jennie. Besides, Jisoo unnie already knows that about you and yet she loves you. She’s not gonna want to find someone else”

“You think so?” Jennie looked

“I know so. Don’t sweat about it, okay?”

“Okay. Thanks, Lis”

There are times when Rosie just couldn’t get things done in the office because people keep on bothering her; asking for her opinions on headers, what color palette to use for the posters, asking for her opinion on product design and etc. For the past couple of hours, she had been giving advice and opinion on other people’s projects that she couldn’t work on hers. So today is one of those days where she decides to work in a coffee shop.

After she’s done ordering and getting her drink, she turned and looked around the café to look for a spot where she can work quietly and peacefully. In the corner by the windows, sitting in one of the stalls mostly for individuals who came alone to work or study she spotted a familiar face.

“Fancy seeing you here. Mind if I sit here?” she gestured to the chair next to the girl.

The girl was startled at first but she eventually relaxed once she saw that it was only Rosie who greeted her “Hey Chaeng! Of course not, by all means, please” she offered a genuine smile.

“Why are you working here and not in the office?” Rosie asked

“Well, I’m just an auditor there so once I get to attend everyone’s process walkthrough I can pretty much work anywhere so long as I can provide my review and commentaries on time” she paused to sip on her drink “what about you?”

“Oh, I couldn’t get things done in the office. So I decided maybe I needed a change in my atmosphere. It’s one of the perks of having a flexible working environment.”

“I see; I’ll leave you to it then so you can focus. But it’s great seeing you”

“It’s great seeing you too! But I don’t mind though, you’re not a bother. At least you’re not shoving design ideas or charts in my face” Rosie chuckled remembering the chaos she was in earlier in her office.

“How’s…. How’s Jisoo by the way?”

“She’s doing great! Better than ever actually. I’ve never seen her this happy before. I knew Jennie would be good for her”

The other girl winced at the mention of Jennie’s name “Well, I don’t think so Chaeng”

“What do you mean?” Rosie squinted her eyes

“I just.. know something you don’t” she sighed and there’s a solemn look in her eyes

“What is it? Is it something bad?”

“Aren’t you dating one of Jennie’s friends? Didn’t she tell you anything?”

“I wouldn’t be asking if she did, Soojoo”

Soojoo contemplated for a while if she should tell Rosie. She wanted to tell Jisoo first but it’s been two weeks and Jisoo still couldn’t find the time to meet up with her and it’s been eating her alive. Maybe Rosie can help so she decided to tell her “Look, I don’t know if your girlfriend is part of any of this but, Mino told me something about a bet Jennie made with a friend”

“What bet? And Lisa better not be or she’s a dead freakin’ meat”

“A bet to make Jisoo fall in love with Jennie”

It’s like all her blood left her body the moment Rosie heard those words come out of Soojoo’s mouth. She felt numb, her hands were trembling, she just couldn’t believe what she heard

“Are you sure?”

“That’s what Mino said” Soojoo looked down “And he’s good friends with Jennie too. I wanted to tell Jisoo as soon as I found out but I didn’t want to tell her via text”

“But Jennie seemed so genuine. She made a tremendous effort for their first date and they even celebrated their first month together just recently. That can’t be true. Right?”

“I don’t know. I’m just telling you what I heard”

“Well, let’s not jump into conclusions. Maybe Mino was mistaken” Rosie hoped that Mino was mistaken, because if he was right, then Lisa probably knew about it too, considering she’s best friends with Jennie, and if Lisa knew it and didn’t tell her, she would feel betrayed, and broken-hearted for both her and her best friend. She didn’t want to waste any more time so she took out her phone and texted Lisa.

To My Lili: Can we talk?

My Lili: Sure babe. About what?

To My Lili: In person. Can you come here? I’ll send you the address

My Lili: Okay, but it might take a while for me to get there. I’ll be coming from Jennie’s office

To My Lili: I don’t mind waiting just get here as soon as you can

My Lili: I’ll be on my way. Love you!

Rosie didn’t reply, at least not until she hears the truth. Meanwhile, Soojoo receives a text from Jisoo, finally agreeing to meet up with her

“Jisoo is free to meet up with me for lunch today.” Soojoo quipped
