It was another tiring yet boring day for Jisoo. As soon as they landed the same day in Jeju for their business trip, she wasn’t able to take a rest. She and her boss just checked in their hotel rooms, left their luggage, then they went straight to their satellite office in Jeju. Jisoo had to go there to provide training with the team and to also streamline their process. So when she finally got into her room after a day full of meetings, she just texted Jennie goodnight then she fell asleep.

When Jennie woke up the next day, she immediately texted Jisoo good morning, and when she didn’t get a respond right away, she figured the other girl must still be asleep. It’s only been a day, but this long distance thing is already giving Jennie a hard time. They weren’t able to communicate properly the day before because their schedules wouldn’t match, and Jisoo’s day was pretty much booked. Jennie understood though, it’s work and she gotta respect that. She just really misses Jisoo quite terribly. When her phone chimed, she immediately checked it hoping it was Jisoo

Irene: U busy today?

Jennie was a bit disappointed to know it wasn’t who she was expecting, but she replied to Irene nonetheless. After all, she’s a friend.

To Irene: Not really, what’s up?

Irene: Wanna grab lunch later?

To Irene: Sure, just let me know where you’d wanna meet

Irene: Cool. I’ll text ya later

“Is Jennie in a meeting right now?” Lisa asked Jennie’s assistant Gina when she saw Jennie’s office door was closed. She had no problems barging into Jennie’s office, but she didn’t wanna do it when the older girl is in a meeting.

“No, I think she’s just really busy”

“Mm ‘kay, thanks, Gina”

Without another word, Lisa went straight into Jennie’s office. The older girl didn’t look up from her laptop screen when Lisa entered the office, she just continued working, somehow knowing who it was who entered.

“What do you want?”

“Ooohh, somebody’s cranky. Didn’t have a good sleep?”

“Why are you here Manoban?”

Lisa feigned hurt, “Why, am I not welcome here anymore?”

Jennie rolled her eyes “You know that’s not what I meant…. So what brings you here?”

“I was just gonna ask if you want to get lunch with me. Chaeyoung’s doing oculars right now for your launch party and I can’t really bug her”

“Actually I’m going to have lunch with Irene, you can join us if you want, I’m sure she would be happy to see you”

“Are you sure? I mean, I don’t want to feel out of place”

“What are you saying? You’re also friends with her”

“I’m just saying, when you two started sharing a special bond before, whenever I hang out with the both of you, I’ve always felt like I was third-wheeling or something. Pretty much like how I feel whenever I’m left alone with Jisoo unnie and you”

“It’s fine Lisa, besides, I have Jisoo now and Irene’s just a friend. It would be great if we three could all hang out again just like the old times”

“You mean the time when you two haven’t started liking each other romantically?”

Jennie just chuckled at the memory, the three of them were really close, until things started to get weird between her and Irene. But she now knows that it was just merely an infatuation or an attraction, it’s nothing compared to how she feels towards Jisoo.

“Yeah pretty much” she grinned at her best friend

Lisa and Jennie both decided to just walk to the restaurant where Irene had texted them to meet up. While they were on their way, they bumped into Mino… and was he with… Soojoo?

“Oh hey Jennie, Lisa, good to see you”

“Wait, how did you know each other?” Soojoo asked, clearly confused

“Wait, you know them too?” Mino asked back, also confused

“Erm, she’s a friend of a friend” Jennie replied

“Well, she’s friends with the girl I’m dating. Park Chaeyoung” Lisa chimed in

Mino nodded, he thought Jennie was also referring to Chaeyoung when Jennie was absolutely talking about Jisoo.

“How did you guys know each other?” Jennie asked

“Oh we work together. I mean, she’s not working in our company, her firm is auditing our company and she’s the one assigned to my department.”

“I see. Didn’t know you were an accountant” Jennie said unamused

“Where are you two going?” Mino asked

“We’re going out for lunch with Irene unnie” Lisa answered

“Irene’s back? Since when?” Mino asked shockingly

“About two days ago, do you want to join?” Jennie offered to be polite

“Actually, Soojoo and I just had lunch. But I’ll catch up with her some other time” Mino answered

Jennie nodded “Okay, I guess we have to go now. It was nice see you Oppa” Jennie paused “Soojoo”

Soojoo just nodded, and Lisa said her pleasant remarks to Mino as well before both girls went straight ahead to meet up with Irene.

Jisoo was training one of the team members in their Jeju office when her stomach started to growl

“Uhh I think your stomach is trying to say something” Bobby laughed

“Just one more step in the process… And what, you speak stomach language now?”

“I do” Bobby proudly answered

“Oh really? And what did my stomach say?” Jisoo playfully raised a brow

“Your stomach says we should take a break”

“Just one more step…”

“Pleaasseeeeee, Jisoo.. I’m getting hungry too. And my brain won’t be able to absorb all of these once it starts thinking about food” Bobby pleaded

“Ugh, fine. But after lunch, we’ll have to finish everything alright?”

“Sure. Now come with me, I know a really good Jajangmyeon place near here”

While waiting for their food to arrive, Jisoo checked her phone for new messages. When she saw a new message from Jennie, a smile automatically forms in her face.

Jendeukie: Have you eaten lunch yet?

To Jendeukie: I’m about to. How ‘bout u?

As per usual, Jennie’s reply came in instantaneously

Jendeukie: We’re almost done. I’m with Lisa and Irene… How’s Jeju treating you so far?

“Someone special?” Jisoo heard Bobby innocently asked

“What? No, she’s just a friend” Jisoo denied but still continued to type in her phone

To Jendeukie: Tiring but great, Bobby brought me to this Jajangmyeon place. He said this is the best in the town

“Right, ‘cause every time a friend texts me, I smile like an idiot too” Bobby teased

“Wha—no, I’m not”

“You sure were” Bobby giggled

“She just said something really funny” Jisoo lied

“Yeah right... is that why you’re so into your phone screen right now?”

Jisoo put her phone down on the table “There, see? Nothing important”

Bobby laughed at Jisoo “Geez, you don’t have to be so defensive about it”
