The Car Ride
Through The SchedulesCheng Xiao’s POV
While waiting for UNIQ’s manager, the members talked to me.
“Cheng Xiao. Where are you from?” Wenhan asked.
“I’m from Shenzhen. How about you guys?” I asked.
“I’m from Hangzhou.” Wenhan answered.
“I’m from Shengzhou.” Yixuan answered.
“And I’m from Luoyang.” Yibo answered.
“Luoyang? Mei Qi’s from Luoyang too.” I said to Yibo.
“Yes. That’s why they’re close. Because they are from the same hometown.” Sungjoo said.
“How long have you been in Korea?” Seungyoun asked me.
“I’ve been training for over a year.” I answered.
“When’s the last time you came home?” Yixuan asked.
“I haven’t come back to China since I’ve started training.” I said and I didn’t notice that my smile faded. I was reminded how much I missed my family.
They noticed the change in my expression and they gave me a sad look too. When I saw that their smile faded, I immediately said “Oh. Why did you become so quiet?” then I laughed.
“You must be homesick.” Wenhan said.
“Yes. At first, I was but now I can manage. If you guys can do it, then I can do it too.” I said while trying to smile.
Then we continued talking throughout the ride about different things.
Yibo’s POV
Wenhan decided to break the ice while waiting for our manager.
“Cheng Xiao. Where are you from?” Wenhan asked.
“I’m from Shenzhen. How about you guys?” Cheng Xiao asked.
“I’m from Hangzhou.” Wenhan answered.
“I’m from Shengzhou.” Yixuan answered.
“And I’m from Luoyang.” I answered.
“Luoyang? Mei Qi’s from Luoyang too.” She said to me.
I was about to answer but Sungjoo answered her first.
“Yes. That’s why they’re close. Because they are from the same hometown.” Sungjoo said.
“How long have you been in Korea?” Seungyoun asked.
“I’ve been training for over a year.” She answered.
“When’s the last time you came home?” Yixuan asked.
“I haven’t come back to China since I’ve started training.” She said and I noticed that her smile faded.
All of us felt her sadness and we decided to keep quiet.
“Oh. Why did you become so quiet?” Cheng Xiao said to break the silence.
“You must be homesick.” Wenhan said echoing my thoughts.
“Yes. At first, I was but now I can manage. If you guys can do it, then I can do it too.” She said while smiling but I know that behind that smile is sadness. I felt that too and sometimes I want to give up training and go back to China. There, I realized how strong Cheng Xiao is.
We continued to talk throughout the ride and Cheng Xiao and my geges are getting closer.
