Artificial Lover."Thank you, but there's really no need," Joonmyun started, looking at the number of flower bouqets being placed in his hospital rooms from the many staffs that worked here. His voice was hoarse and he was itching for water, but his guests wouldn't leave him be for him to rest. It had been only a few days that he had awoken from the latest surgery in trying to repair his internal organs after it had been ripped apart by a psych patient.Na Mi had been by his side, but right now, he really wished that she was beside him — to let everyone know that he needed rest, or rather time alone with her and their baby.
But the Chief insisted that she go to work while he rested, and that's exactly what she was doing. A small smile plastered as he waited out for the doctors and nurses to return to their work.
"Oh, party's over! Let the man rest," Kihyun walked in, a chart in his hand as he tried to squeeze through the numbe of doctors and nurses. "Look, if I have to go get Doctor Hwang for you all to scatter, I will. And mind you, she will not be happy." He grumbled, and surprisingly, everyone began to parish. "Is she really that scary?" Joonmyun asked, looking to the intern.
Kihyun chuckled, shaking his head. "Her hormones have been kicking in, and on top of trying to study for the residency exam, she's like a ticking bomb." Joonmyun gave him a watery laugh before grunting in pain. "Ow," he mumbled and immediately, Kihyun retracted his pressurized hand away from the man's wounds. "Sorry, Doctor Kim."
"It's alright, you're just trying to do your job."
"I'm glad you're alright, Doctor Kim," Kihyun added, giving the man a smile, "it wouldn't be the same without the almighty neurosurgeon around." Joonmyun gave the intern a weak smile, nodding quietly as he stared up to the ceiling. It wasn't something he would thought they would care about him for but he realized that everyone in the building had become like his family. Even if he didn't make it, he'd still leave everything he head to his unborn child and Na Mi, if she'd accept it.
Na Mi sighed, having finished her rounds. She stood by the nurse's station, her feet aching with every inch of her body had been doing. Nearing the last few months of her pregnancy, she was a waddling duck in pain — her daughter seemingly kicking whenever Joonmyun wasn't around to speak to her. "Hey there, mama bear," Jaemi called out, rounding to stand in front of the brunette.
"You alright?" She asked and the pregnant girl shook her head. "My feet hurt, and I'm hungry." She whined, turning away from the station as she waddle towards the other side of the hall, into the special hospital rooms. She made her way to Joonmyun's room with Jaemi right beside her. "Do you want me to get you something to eat?" The girl asked, looking at the brunette who nodded slightly. "Could you get me some mangoes, and maybe a smoothie?" Jaemi sighed, rolling her eyes before nodding. "I'll be back then."
With that, the brunette's best friend walked the direction they came in from. Nami smiled in satisfaction, waddling into Joonmyun's room. "You have a visitor," she knocked as he looked up to her. A smile plastered his lips as he sat up cautiously. "I was wondering when the loves of my life was going to come visit." Nami chuckled, feeling her heart twist a bit. Still, she had mixed emotions for both Baekhyun and Joonmyun, but she didn't want to tell him that — afraid that either would be disappointed. "Well, I actually needed you for something." She grinned, pulling a chair up next to his bed, but he insisted on her sitting beside him on the bed.
Gently, she hauled herself beside him. "Is that all you ever s
