CHAPTER 43

FOUR

Jennie woke up from the sun rays that was hitting her face as it went through the rectangular window inside Jisoo’s hospital room. She slowly opened her eyes and sighed in contentment knowing that she had a great and warm sleep. In her mind, she was wondering how did that became possible when she was clearly shivering in coldness last night.

Then her questions were answered when she felt a huge jacket covering her body when she was about to stretch her arms, then she abruptly rose from the lying when she realized that she was straightly laid on the long couch. Her eyes widen in confusion, the last time she remembered she fell asleep on the chair that was beside Jisoo’s bed.

She scratched her head thinking how did she managed to end up there. Then her gaze fell on the jacket that was now on her lap. She picked it up and stared at it carefully, it was black and made of a quite thick material. She knew she saw someone wearing this last night. She furrowed her eyebrows trying to remember it, then unconsciously, she leaned it closer to her nose and smelled it.

That it made her eyes widen again, the smell was utterly familiar for her. She knew she had smelled it before. She knew it belonged to someone she knew, and very close to her that she remembered that smell. She looked around her and saw that the room was empty only she, Rose, and Jimin was there.

She turned her gaze at Rose and just in time for the latter to notice that she was awake already, “Oh, unnie, good morning,” Rose greeted her with a warm smile, she was sitting on the chair that she was previously occupying last night.

She gave Rose a questioning look, “Rose, how did I…” she trailed off, unsure of how to ask how did she ended up on the sofa.

Rose furrowed her eyebrows as Jennie stopped talking all of a sudden, seeing what Jennie wanted to ask, Jimin took the initiative to answer, “Taehyung carried you there,” he answered ending all her confusions.

So it figures, the jacket, the smell, the soothing touch that she felt on her cheek last night, it all belonged to Taehyung, and if she remembered it right she kind of heard someone whispering towards her, she guessed that it was also Taehyung saying something to her that she unfortunately didn’t catch clearly.

Jennie just nodded her head and bowed her head staring at the jacket, she couldn’t help but to admit in herself that she missed him, she missed him being close to her, that when his jacket was draped over her she somehow felt like that it was Taehyung hugging her making her let out a sad smile.

But she quickly composed herself and stood up properly, carrying the jacket in her hand, when the door burst open revealing Taehyung, Jin, and Jungkook carrying some paper bags that she assumed were foods.

“Here, we brought breakfast,” Taehyung announced as he walked inside the room and looked around them then his gaze stopped when it stared back at Jennie’s, who was also looking at him, “G–good morning,” he awkwardly greeted.

Jennie just bowed lightly at him before looking away and clearing . She then walked towards him, handing him his jacket back. Taehyung stared at the jacket for a while then returned his gaze back up to her eyes, “Use it, you seemed cold–”

“I don’t need it anymore, but thanks,” Jennie said, cutting him off then pushed the jacket more to him. Taehyung’s face fell and slowly held his jacket with his free hand. When Jennie saw that he got a hold of it already, she quickly walked passed by him and went out of the room, she still couldn’t find herself face him after their confrontation that she just left the room.

Taehyung stood rooted to his spot, dumbfounded, Jungkook pat his shoulder lightly that snapped him out of his daze and quickly placed the paper bags down on the small table beside Jisoo’s bed and quickly ran outside to catch Jennie.

“Jennie, wait,” he called out when she saw her walking on the hallway, away from the room, he quickened his pace when he saw Jennie ignored him and just continued on walking. When he caught up with her, he reached for her hand and pulled her making her face him, “Jennie…”

“What?” Jennie asked in a cold voice.

“Can we talk–”

“Taehyung, look, I have a phone call to answer,” she excused and as if the heavens agreed to her alibi, her phone started vibrating and ringing in her pocket making the both of them look at it. Jennie quickly pulled it out and checked the caller, Mom.

Taehyung slowly let go of her and retracted his hand back to his side, bowing his head down, feeling embarrassed, “Oh… Deh… Take your time then,” he said before Jennie left him and turned to a corner to answer the call.

She took a quick glance where she left Taehyung and gave out a sad sigh before answering her phone, “Hi mom,” she greeted making her voice fine.

“Jennie! How was my precious daughter?” she heard her mom sweetly answer from the other line making her smile wider.

“Mom, I’ve been fine, how about you?”

“Always fine! By the way, your graduation’s coming, when do you want me to go there?” her smile fell once she heard the word graduation, she was sure she doesn’t have any plan on going anymore, same with the others, not with Jisoo’s current condition, though she knew Lisa’s coming back, she still decided not to go anymore.

“Mom, about that…” she sighed, “I think me and the girls aren’t going anymore…”

“What? Why? It’s your special day! Did something happen?” her mother asked worriedly.

“Deh… Jisoo unnie… Got into a car accident and she was confined right now and hasn’t woke up yet…” she told her mom that she heard a gasp of shock from the other line.

“Oh my gosh, how is she right now? Is she fine already? Did you tell her mom already? Don’t worry honey, everything’s going to be fine, hmm?” she let out small smile, she really loves her mother dearly.

“Neh, we already called auntie, I think she’ll be here later or tomorrow, she was currently on a business trip that we weren’t sure about the exact time and day when she’ll arrive… And unnie’s fine, we’re just waiting for her to wake up…”

“Oh, is that so? Don’t worry I’ll call her too to make sure,” her mom assured her. Jisoo’s mother and hers were very good friends since they met each other at a PTA meeting during their middle school, resulting to Jisoo and Jennie being close too.

“Thanks, Mom… Is there anything you need?” she asked politely.

“Deh, since I won’t be going there for your graduation anymore, would you mind going back here for the mean time after Jisoo recovers?”

“G–go back… to New Zealand?” Jennie asked, almost whispering.

“Yes, I miss my daughter, and I want to tour you where you haven’t been to as a gift! So what do you say?” her mother’s voice was hopeful and cheerful, how could she say no to that.

“Okay… When though?” she asked.

“This week, maybe?”

“T–this week… S–sure…”

“That’s great! I’ll book your flight now and text you later the details, okay? Thank you honey! I’ll see you soon!”

She smiled hearing her mother this happy, “Okay mom, I’ll see you… Bye,” she ended the call as soon as she heard her mom say good bye. She locked her phone and put it back inside her pocket. She sighed, staring at the ceiling, she didn’t know what to feel, she was torn between being happy and being sad. Happy, for after many years, she finally got to go back to the place where she grew up and become the person she was now, and be with her mom. Sad, because she thought about the girls, she didn’t want to leave them, she’s going to miss them too much, though it was just a vacation, she was very attached with them. Sad, because she was leaving him… She’s going to leave Taehyung and all the things involved in them behind her. She sighed again at the thought but she kept herself positive as she just set her mind that this would be a great opportunity to unwind and move on from all the hurtful things that she had been experiencing.

She released one heavy breath before finally decided to turn around and go back to Jisoo’s room. She was about to walk her way there when she stopped suddenly as she saw Rose just a couple of steps away from her, “R–rosie, what are you doing here?” she asked, forcing a smile. She was afraid that Rose might heard her plans, she wasn’t ready to break the news to them yet.

“You’re leaving?” Rose asked, and with just that she already figure it out that she had heard everything, “You’re going back to New Zealand? Unnie…” Rose asked again, sadness evident in her voice.

Jennie sighed and smiled at Rose trying to cheer her up, “Don’t worry, it wasn’t for good… Well I’m not sure about that yet…” she said while holding her hand, squeezing it lightly.

Rose sighed, “But still…”

“Hey, I’m still here, aren’t I?” Jennie asked smiling softly at her.

“It’s just that, I don’t want to hear someone leaving again, especially in this kind of situation,” she said pouting sadly making Jennie chuckle.

“Cheer up, Rosie! It’s not like I’m coming back–”

“But you said so yourself, you aren’t sure,” Rose whined making her laugh again.

“Aish, let’s discuss that later,” she said and about to pull her along with her when she faced her again and asked something, “Please, don’t tell it to them yet, I’m going to say it to unnie, once she was home,” she pleaded that Rose just nodded without hesitation.

They then made their way back to Jisoo’s room when they suddenly bumped into Jimin, who seemed nervous, confused, and contemplating at the same time while staring at his phone. He just had the time to look up when Rose held his arm, “Hey, is everything alright?” she asked, concerned.

“R–rose… I… uhm…” Jimin trailed off making Jennie and Rose shot him questioning looks. He sighed and without hesitation, gave Rose his phone that Rose took but her attention was still on him, “Read it,” he simply said that Rose and Jennie took a look on his phone.

Both girls furrowed their eyebrows checking his phone, and got more confused when it was in his text messages. But their expressions suddenly changed when there was a text from Seulgi. Without wasting any second, they tapped on it and read it.

From: Kang Seulgi

‘Jimin, are you free right now? Can we meet? Meet me at the café just across your street…’

‘Don’t worry my intentions are purely clean this time, nothing like in the past would happen, I promise…’

‘If you don’t trust me, you could bring Rose with you, it’s fine…’

The messages read, Rose and Jennie looked at each other as if asking one another what was this all about. They turned to Jimin and saw that he had his head bowed like he did something wrong.

“Jimin–ah,” Rose called out, lifting his head up, “I think you should go to her, I think it was something important,” Jimin was stunned because of what she said. Rose wasn’t angry nor cold towards him knowing that Seulgi wanted to meet with him.

“T–then, will you go with me?” he asked but much to his surprise, Rose shook her head no.

Then she smiled, “Aniya, I trust you!”

Jimin smiled back, it felt great to hear that from her. Then their attentions turned to Jennie when they heard her spoke, “But I want to come though, can I?” she asked Jimin with a hopeful face.

“Yah unnie, are you acting cute for my boyfriend?” Rose jokingly asked making Jennie pout like a kid that got scolded by her mother.

“I’m just curious to what she’s going to say…”

Jimin chuckled watching the scene in front of him, he then grabbed each of their wrists and pulled them with him towards the elevator, “Eh, just go with me, the both of you.”

They arrived at the said café. They went inside with Jimin opening the door for the girls, they looked around and hurriedly spotted Seulgi at the far corner of the café as she waved her hand at them. She was sitting on the table that was good for four persons as she expected Jimin would be with Rose, but she was surprised to see Jennie was also there.

They walked towards Seulgi who stood immediately seeing them approaching her, then she bowed at them when they reached in front of her, “Jennie–ssi, I–I didn’t expect you to be here too,” she shyly said.

“Well, is it okay to join you?” Jennie asked with a warm smile making Seulgi blink rapidly in disbelief, she expected Jennie to be mean to her after all she had done to her, but Jennie was kind and soft spoken towards her.

“Of course! No problem!” Seulgi responded a bit in panic making Jennie giggle. She then occupied the seat beside Seulgi while Jimin and Rose sat on the seats that were in front of them. They awkwardly sat there, until Jennie broke the silence, “I’m going to order some food, I haven’t eaten anything yet,” she said and stood up from her seat, “Do you guys want anything?” she asked Rose and Jimin who just shook their heads then she turned to Seulgi, “How about you, Seulgi–ssi?”

“A–ah, I’m fine, don’t worry about me,” she replied still startled at how Jennie was treating her. Jennie just nodded then went to the counter.

The three of them were left alone at the table making the atmosphere more awkward than before. Seeing that no one dared to talk, Jimin cleared his throat and tried to start the conversation, “Seulgi, you got something to say?” he asked.

“A–ah, deh…” she answered then sighed first before continuing, “But first of all, I wanted to say sorry for all the troubles I have caused…” she apologized sincerely, just in time Jennie came back with her food and sat down beside her again.

“It’s okay, Seulgi! You aren’t the root of all of that you know,” Rose said as she reached for the girl’s hand and squeezed it lightly making Seulgi smile back at her while Jennie was nodding beside her agreeing to what Rose said.

“Aish, you girls are too kind, now I’m feeling guiltier,” Seulgi said with a pout making Rose and Jennie giggle because of her cuteness. Jimin was just there sitting, and silently watching the three girls converse in front of him in total awe. He couldn’t believe that all three of them got along together that fast.

He cleared his throat to get their attention, “Yah yah yah, have you forgotten that you were with a guy?” he asked making them laugh a little.

“Sorry, we didn’t see you, you’re too short, dwarf,” Jennie retorted making Jimin frown while the two girls laugh more.

“How dare you, you’re short too,” Jimin whined but the girls were unaffected, “Aish, yah Kang Seulgi, just say what you wanted to say,” he said impatiently.

“Too impatient as always, dwarf,” she rolled her eyes from him then went serious this time, “It’s about your friend Jisoo, and Jin…” she started making the three look at her in total anticipation, “That night at the ball, I was in the restroom retouching my make–up, then I was about to go outside, I heard two people arguing just outside the restroom, curious, I peeked outside a little and recognized Jisoo, your friend, and she was with this transferee called Jinyoung, I heard them talking seriously that I just decided to come out later when they finished cause it would be awkward if I passed by them in the middle of their conversation….”

“Why did you bring me here?” Jisoo asked Jinyoung in an annoyed tone. If it weren’t for his blackmailing, she wouldn’t be here with him, facing him right now.

“I texted you last week, why didn’t you reply?” Jinyoung asked with the same level of annoyance as her in his tone.

Jisoo rolled her eyes from his question, “Why would I do that? Do I really have to reply?”

“Look, I just asked you talk to me–”

“We talked already, during the tour, remember?” Jisoo said cutting him off midway. Jinyoung sighed in annoyance as he didn’t want to be cut off that way, and only Jisoo dared to do that to him.

“Do you call that talk? You just pushed me away!” Jinyoung exclaimed making Jisoo scoffed.

“What else should I do to you? Things between us were already over! Didn’t I made that clear? Look, I clearly know what you’re going to ask again, and I told you already, we don’t have any chance anymore,” Jisoo answered firmly, she just wanted this conversation to be over already.

Jinyoung sighed in exasperation then turned to stare at her, “Jisoo, I’ve changed already, I wouldn’t be here and ran after you if I was lying,” he convinced her but Jisoo just shook her head no as if saying she wasn’t believing any word he was saying.

“Jisoo, please just give me another chance… Another chance then I’m out of your life,” Jisoo could feel the desperation in his voice, she felt kind of bad towards him but not enough for her to give him that chance, he doesn’t deserve her from the very beginning.

“Jinyoung, that chance, I already gave it to you years ago… I remembered a lot of your friends told me that you already cheated on me multiple times but what did I do? I didn’t push you away and instead I gave you another chance to prove yourself that you can change for me…”

Jinyoung fell silent at the words she had said. He didn’t know that all along she knew about the dirty deeds that he had been doing behind her back during their relationship, he thought she only knew about the incident with Eunha that time in his condo, but turned out Jisoo knew better.

Jinyoung felt guiltier than ever. He felt stupid as he only realized that Jisoo was different from all the other girls he had been with when she broke up with him, when actually it was him who broke all the things between them, for he denied her in front of Eunha and just slammed the door shot in front of her face. He only realized that no other girl could be in Jisoo’s level when he was reflecting to all the bad things he did.

Jisoo had already given him a lot of chances but turned out he only wasted all of it, and just lied in her face all along they were together. He soon realized that he was a thick faced jerk asking for another chance when clearly he knew in himself that he didn’t deserve it but then again, he still likes her, and won’t give up on her.

He shrugged all of his thoughts away and stared at Jisoo with determination filling up his eyes, “Jisoo… Please… This time I promise no more games… I would really change for you… I swear… Please…” he begged her as he reached for her hand squeezing it tightly.

Jisoo fell stunned on her spot, staring at Jinyoung in disbelief. She couldn’t believe that Jinyoung could be this desperate and he really seemed vulnerable right now. She didn’t expect to see this kind of side of him right now, it caught her off guard that it took her long enough to realize that he was holding her hand. When she snapped back to reality, she slowly retracted her hand away from him, and gave her an apologetic look, “I’m sorry… But nothing can change my mind… I already have Jin–”

“Forget about JIn, damn!” Jinyoung exclaimed shocking Jisoo, she knew his temper was slowly swallowing the best of him, he combed his hands through his hair in frustration before turning to her, “Jisoo, can’t you see how desperate I look right now? You’re the only girl who I begged to come back to me! Heck, girls were doing that for me, but right now, I’m doing it for you! Can’t you see it? I’m treating you right, come on, please, Jisoo… Leave Jin for me! I’m so much better than him anyways!” Jisoo felt her ears perked up in irritation upon hearing the last thing he said.

Jisoo’s temper was slowly rising, and slowly eating her up too, but she chose to stay calm as she kept in her mind that the best way to end Jinyoung’s fantancies was to play with him, at his own game. Jisoo breathed heavily as she charged herself with all the courage she needed.

She stared at Jinyoung forcing her eyes to look convincing as it could, “So, you want me to leave Jin and be with you, again?” she asked as Jinyoung answered it with a nod, she looked away from him for a second before flashing him one of her sweetest smiles, “Sure, I’ll do that. You were better than him after all…”

Hearing that, Jinyoung couldn’t help but to smile happily and hugged her tightly. He felt accomplished as Jisoo finally accepted him again. He was whispering a lot of ‘thank yous’ in her but he suddenly stopped and slowly got away from her when he heard the next words she said…

“You’re only better, because Jin is the BEST.”

Jinyoung looked at her again and saw that the sweet smile she was flashing him just now, completely disappeared, “So how was the feeling of being played and fooled?” she asked with a smirk. Jinyoung didn’t answer as he just gritted his teeth and clenched his fist.

“Felt awful right? That’s how I felt when you did that to me Jinyoung, so please, listen to me and leave me alone already, I told you so many times that I won’t take you back anymore. I have Jin, and I love him so much…” she smiled at thought of loving Jin, “I hope this would be the last time I’ll talk to you about this,” she sternly said before walking away from him not even bothering to hear his reply.

Jinyoung sighed as he watched Jisoo’s walking figure slowly disappearing from his sight.

He smiled bitterly at himself, “I think that’s enough humiliation, man…”

“Then when I saw him walk away, I finally went out of the restroom and went to the ballroom again, I looked everywhere for Jin so I could tell it to him, but I didn’t find you all of there so…” Seulgi said ending her story, she bowed her head when minutes passed but none of them hasn’t reacted or said something about, “I’m sorry if I just said it now–”

“Thank you,” Jennie hugged her, surprising her, but she eventually hugged back and smiled at her.

“Seulgi thank god you’re there!” Rose said excitedly.

“Come on, we have to tell hyung now!” Jimin said urgently, and stood quickly from his seat and ran to the door. The girls hugged Seulgi first before following after Jimin, they thanked her multiple times then ran after the dwarf.

Not long after they arrived back at the hospital, panting, making the three look at them weirdly.

 “Jin… Hyung… We need… To talk… Right now!”

Chapter 41: My goodness, my heart in this chapter... Beautifullly done. Glad Jisoo will be okay...hopefully 100% okay. It's just that her head was involved. it's either she will be okay just takes time or not completely so (amnesia like other stories I've read...whether 100% or selective ;p...hopefully not though but will still read of course). Hopefully too she doesn't have a trauma, Jin involved or not...or crossing the street wise having phobia or something...But either way really beautifully written anticipating where you would take your story...I know you will make it worth while. Curious what's up with Lisa, since she seems happy now. Hopefully Ten because a good friend or not a love rival for jungkook. Hopefully her dad, lighten up. Cute moment POV wise for taehyung and Jennie. Sweet. Hope they settle things soon. As for Jin, I wonder how he and the others heard about Jisoo's accident. Did he believe it? Did he happen to follow Jimin in running after Jisoo? Did they heard it right away? Or somehow found out when Jimin called them. My goodness, a really good read. Beautifully written. Thank you for your hard work. Anticipating every chapter as well as your future works
