“When did you say she would wake up? She’s been out for a day and a half already.”
“Due to pent up exhaustion, it’s hard to say. Her body’s been through a lot. I would advise to let her rest.”
Ara’s eyes fluttered open. She squinted at the bright light coming from the window and recognized a sleeping Jungkook in the chair beside it. She closed her eyes again and smiled, chuckling lightly to herself. A dull pain grasped her shoulder as she did so, causing her to wince ever so slightly.
“You’re awake,” Jungkook said, yawning.
“I am,” she said.
“We were…a bit worried that you weren’t going to wake up,” he admitted.
“Who’s ‘we’?”
Jungkook glanced at the door. She followed his gaze to see Namjoon and Chanyeol standing, their expressions concerned.
“According to the doctor, you lost a lot of blood while exerting yourself,” Jungkook explained quietly. “You also suffered some trauma to your neck.”
“No ,” she grumbled as she tried to sit up. The pain seared through her shoulder, but she managed to do it, her back propped up against a few pillows as she looked at the colonel with tired eyes. “You’re welcome for saving your .”
Chanyeol laughed softly. “Thanks.”
“So where is he?” Ara asked.
“In a cell, where he belongs,” Namjoon replied.
Ara tried to get up, causing Jungkook to push her back down again. She stared defiantly into his eyes. “I want to see him.”
“Rest,” Jungkook said.
“I have to,” Ara insisted. “You have to let me go.”
Namjoon frowned deeply. “Why do you want to associate yourself with that murderous snake? He tried to kill you.”
Ara said nothing. She touched Jungkook’s arm. “Kook…brother…I have to confirm something.”
