CHAPTER 2
SAILBOATSIt’s funny how the world works in many strange ways. Without the two best friends realizing it, their friendship had drifted apart. Like the paper boats they had written their promises on, they sunk to the bottom of the stream.
As time passed and they grew up, they didn’t even meet in school now. They attended different classes and went home at different times. Chanyeol often spent the afternoon walking home alone under the burning hot sun. They missed each other. But somehow, they just didn’t bring each other to meet.
Chanyeol knew how strict Kyungsoo’s parents were. They wouldn’t have let him out to meet Chanyeol anyway. Kyungsoo didn’t tell him, but Chanyeol knew that he was a bad influence on Kyungsoo. Or at least that was what Kyungsoo’s parents thought. Eventually, they just didn’t talk much to each other anymore.
Sometimes, Chanyeol found himself seated by the window and staring out at Kyungsoo’s house just opposite from his. But now, he just couldn’t care less to pull the curtains back.
During evenings, Chanyeol would walk out to the stream by himself as he brought along a few paper boats he had made. He stared over at Kyungsoo’s quiet house before returning his gaze to the water. He sighed deeply as he sat down beside the stream. Slowly and carefully, he wrote little words on the side of the paper boats and sent them into the water.
What he never knew was Kyungsoo was watching him all the time. Kyungsoo sat by his bedroom window as he studied his books. He was so used to it that he knew every day at the same time, Chanyeol would appear by the riverside. He was dying inside to be out there with him, sending paper boats in the river. Now he could only wonder what Chanyeol had written
