“Hey, what do you guys say we mess with her a little?” Taeyang suddenly said as he smiled to himself.

Jiyong got confused for a second.

“Mess..with Taeyeon? Uh..come on guys; I think I’ve given her enough already.” He tried to persuade them.

“Uh..No! If anything, you’ve been super easy on this one than the previous one Ji!” Seungri suddenly said in the background.

Jiyong ran his hand thru his hair as he sighed.

“I’m not doing it. I’m done messing with her.”

“What’s with the sudden change of heart? You just said you can’t stand her.” A voice said, probably one of Taeyang’s friends.

“I mean..I would but there’s not much I can do in a wheelchair.” He sighed as he tried to save his .

“Actually there’s a lot more you can do.”

Taeyang and his friends looked at each other with smiles.

Tiffany stood in front of the house and looks up at it as she smiles a bit.

“Hasn’t changed at all. Not even one bit.”

She takes a deep breath and approaches the front door. As she stood there, she looked down for a second before knocking on the door.

A young woman opens the door and stares at Tiffany in disbelief.

“Tiffany? You’ve grown up so well. Oh, honey; you’ve gotten so pretty.” She smiled at Tiffany softly.

Tiffany looked at her, not knowing who she is.

“Who are you and where’s Seungyoon?”

“I can’t believe you’re still best friends with him.” She smiles. “I’m his mom. You were too young to remember me. I’ll go get him for you.” She smiles at Tiffany before leaving to get Seungyoon.

Tiffany was confused for a moment there.

“His mom?” She thought to herself.

She slowly steps inside and notices pieces of a broken vase which was next to a broom in the corner of the entrance. She then looks towards the kitchen and sees caution tape all over the entrance; preventing entrance to it.

“He said you can head right on up to his room.”

Tiffany quickly turned to the woman who was their mother.

“Um, thank you.” She says before walking up to Seungyoon’s room.

Seungyoon opens the door before Tiffany could even knock on it.

“What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to see if you were alright.” She softly says as she looks down, avoiding his eyes.

“I was obviously devastated. Living alone. I just wanted some company and having said I didn’t have a boyfriend. That’s when my doctor gave me another option, which was adopting. I went to many different orphanages but every time they would say they wouldn’t allow an adoption without a father. They believed that a single mother couldn’t possibly raise a child. It took months til I finally found an orphanage where they me the chance. Where I…adopted Seunghyun.”

Seunghyun stiffens up a bit as he becomes a little nervous.

“I remember sitting on a chair in front of the woman behind her desk. Seunghyun..” She pauses as she smiles softly. “You wouldn’t sit still in the chair so we gave you a few toys to play with and you kept yourself pretty entertained.”

Taeyeon couldn’t help but let out a small laugh at how cute little Seunghyun sounded while Seunghyun started to blush as he chuckles.

“I asked her about your background and why you were here. Normally, working at an orphanage; you’re not allowed to give out that personal information but she made an exception.”

“She..she told you why I was there?” Seunghyun suddenly said as he stuttered a bit.

“Your mother was only sixteen when she had you with your father. Going to school, having to get jobs..they didn’t think they would be able to handle it. They said they weren’t ready for a kid. That’s why..that’s why you ended up at the orphanage. You wouldn’t remember anything about it. You were until you turned three years old. And then I adopted you.”

Seunghyun looked down as his eyes started to get teary.

“They gave me up because they weren’t ready to take responsibility of me?”

She nods as she also started to get teary.

“I’m sorry Seunghyun.”

Seunghyun sighed as he tried not to feel sorry for himself, he quickly changes the subject to Taeyeon.

“I still don’t understand.” He turned towards Taeyeon. “What does she have to do with this?”

“When you were ten years old, your parents contacted me. They wanted to know as much as they could about you and how you were doing. So they asked the orphanage who had adopted you and contacted me. They wanted me to keep from you because you had already believed I was your birth mother. About five years ago, I got a call from the orphanage that told me that they had gotten into a tragic car accident.”

Taeyeon suddenly looked down.

“My first thought was ‘Poor Seunghyun’. I felt so terrible because you never got to meet your actual parents.” She looked at Seunghyun. “You have no idea how bad I felt. I even felt guilty at one point because I felt like it wasn’t fair that I got to see you grow up and become the young man that you are unlike they did..”

Seunghyun takes her hand as he continues to listen to her.

“So the orphanage had told me that they had another child.” She paused and looked at Seunghyun. “Your sister. I asked what would happen to her and they told me that they already had a few couples interested in becoming her foster parents. For five years, I didn’t hear anything about you.” She paused and looked at Taeyeon. “Until a few months ago when the same lady asked me if I would be interested in adopting you. I was thrilled. I always thought about adopting again, but never actually came through with it. But I thought that since you and Seunghyun were real brother and sister. You had already lost your parents and I thought ‘Well since they don’t have anyone else, they should at least have each other.’ So then I did it. I adopted you and you became a part of this family.”

Everything was beginning to make sense to Seunghyun.

“So that’s why you hated it so much every time I bashed on her..”

Seo-Yeon nodded.

Seunghyun lets go of Seo-Yeon’s hand and stood up as he faced Taeyeon.

“Taeyeon..I-“

Taeyeon quickly stood up and wraps her arms around him tightly which shocked Seunghyun but he tightly wrapped his arms around her as well.

“I’m so sorry.” He whispered.

Dae looked at them in awe as he turned to Seo-Yeon who was trying her best not to cry. He couldn’t help but smile as he wrapped his arm around her, comforting her.

Jiyong sighed as he holds the phone out to her.

“Here.”

She takes the phone and shoves it in her purse.

“Anything else you wanna tell me before I go?”

“Get over it already.”

“Get over it? You’re PARALYZED Jiyong!” She spat at him.

He says silent.

“You’re not gonna be able to go to parties, play football, walk me to class..Do you know how much things are gonna change now that you can’t walk?”

Jiyong suddenly remembers what Taeyeon had said.

“Not being able to walk won’t change anyone’s feelings towards you. You’ll still be just like everyone else.”

He looks up at Kiko.

“I’m not gonna change. Just because I’m not gonna be able to walk doesn’t mean I’m going to be a different person.”

“That is filling your head with nonsense, isn’t she?”

Jiyong was getting annoyed with all this .

“For the last time, her name is Taeyeon. Stop calling her a , nerd, just because she’s smart. Maybe if you had half the brain she does, guys would actually give you the time of day.”

“What’s gotten into you? Where the hell is all this coming from? You’re basically saying you’d pick her over me.”

Jiyong stays silent as he thought about it.

“You know what? I probably would, Kiko.”

Kiko’s hands turned into fists as she glared at him.

“If this is what that stupid nerd is turning you into then tell her I said to watch her back.” She storms out the room.

Jiyong sighs deeply as he pushes his head back into the pillow.

“What the hell did I just get Taeyeon into?”

Seungyoon sighed deeply as he leaned against the door frame.

“I’m fine, Tiffany. Don’t worry too much about me.

“You’re lying Seungyoon.”

He shuts the door in her face.

Tiffany sighs as she knocks again.

“Open the door.”

He opens the door about to tell Tiffany to leave but she walks inside his room as she turns to him.

“I ain’t leaving Seungyoon.”

Seungyoon sighed as he closed the door and leaned against it as he looks at Tiffany.

“I’m really not in the mood for this right now, Tiffany. Just go.”

She ignores him as she sits down on the edge of his bed.

“What happened downstairs?”

He stays silent.

“Who’s that woman downstairs? I know we haven’t been up to date on each other’s lives but what’s going on Seungyoon?”

He sighs as he looks down.

“She’s..she says she’s my mom.”

Tiffany widens her eyes as she was processing what he just said.

“Uh..wow, I really don’t know what to say. I don’t know much about her except that she left—“

“Us?” Seungyoon suddenly said angrily. “Yeah and somehow she thinks she can just walk back into our lives and make us lover her and forgive her. I’ve never had a mom. Not one I can remember at least. I don’t know what it’s like having that person to drive to soccer and stay for my games to cheer me on.”

Tiffany tried to hide her smile.

“Seungyoon, you don’t even play soccer.” She says as she tried to stop from laughing.

His lips curved into a smile as he knew what she was getting at.

“Yeah well; that’s not the point Tiff.” He looks at her.

“I understand Seungyoon and I see that smile again. Good.” Tiffany smiled at him.

His lips slowly turned downward as he sighed.

“Why are you doing this Tiff? I’ve been nothing but a to you.”

Tiffany slowly got up and walked towards him as she placed her hand on his cheek.

“Because even after all the you’re going thru, I’m still gonna be on your no matter how much you push me away. Don’t forget that Seungyoon or should I say Yoonie.” She lightly smiled at him.

Seunghyun slowly opens the door and carefully walks in with a glass of water and the pills with his other hand.

“Taeyeon?”

Taeyeon slowly sit up from her bed with her face all sweaty and her eyes were drowsy.

“Seunghyun?”

He cleared his throat nervously as he sat beside her.

“I—I heard you coughing. I thought I’d bring you your medicine.”

Her lips curved into a small smile as she looks at him. Usually Dae would bring her medicine. She was quite surprise Seunghyun was in her room with her medicine.

“What are you doing?”

Seunghyun smiled awkwardly.

“Don’t make fun of me!” He says as he sees Taeyeon smiling at him. “I wanna be that big brother you never had and I never even tried to be.”

Taeyeon stays silent.

“If you let me that is.” He pauses. “I’m sorry for everything I’ve done. How I’ve treated you. I want to start over on this brother-sister relationship.” He smiles softly. “What do you say?”

She slowly takes the glass of water and pills. She swallows them followed by taking a couple of sips from the glass of water. “I would say this water isn’t cold enough.” She smiles at him.

He smiles back at her.

“Thanks.”

She nodded at him as she puts the water on the nightstand next to her while Seunghyun stood up and headed to the door but he stopped for a moment and turned to her.

“Good night, Taeyeon.”

Taeyeon looks up at him and smiles softly.

“Goodnight.”

She waits until he leaves as she lays back down and closes her eyes.

Seunghyun sighs as he leaned against Taeyeon’s door.

“I think it’s great that you’re giving it another chance.”

Seunghyun jumped a bit by Seo-Yeon’s voice as he sighs.

“I don’t wanna be a bad guy..or brother.”

“You’re not, honey.”

“Uhm, thanks..Seo-Yeon.” He awkwardly says before walking into his room.

Taeyeon groaned as she felt her phone vibrating nonstop towards the edge of the nightstand and finally falling off, landing on the ground which made a loud noise. She got started by it as she woke up. She looked to see it was the middle of night before reaching down to grab it and answering.

“Hello?” She says in a tired voice.

“Uhm..hey, Taeyeon.” Jiyong softly said with a hint of nervousness in his voice.

Taeyeon’s eyes widen.

“How did you get my number? I just got this phone yesterday.”

“That doesn’t matter. I just called to tell you to..to watch out for the jocks at school, alright.”

“You mean your little group of snobs?” She sighs as she rubs her eyes. “Why? What did I do to them now?”

“I’m just saying. I just want you to be careful. That’s all.”

“Uhm..okay, thanks I guess.” She says, confused as to why Jiyong would call her in the middle of night to warn her about his friends.

“Before you go, can I ask you for a favor?”

“Okay, what?” She asked, curious.

“If it’s not too much to ask..”

She let out a laugh, not believing this.

“What, Jiyong?”

He chuckles softly.

“Would you stay on the phone with me until I fall asleep?”

Her lips curved into a smile without saying anything.

“I’m sorry.” He says, worried that he might of freaked her out. “Was that too much?”

She giggles a bit as she lays back down.

“No, it’s fine. Sure, I’ll stay on the phone with you.” She gets comfortable as she stares at the ceiling, smiling.
