Quit the Job
Breathless
“I told you not to go but you’re so hard-headed! Look at you now!” I panicked hearing how loud her voice could be.
She is pacing back and forth in front of me while I am sitting on the sofa and bracing my wounded arm.
Yes, I was injured. The operation’s done but I cannot claim that this one’s successful. One of our colleagues is seriously wounded and three of us got injured as well. And here I am, being rained with a lot of sermons from my wife.

“Chaerin, we are not having that discussion again. You can’t ask me to quit the bureau. We talked about this one already and it was settled that I will not be quitting.” My arm is aching but I am enduring it. I looked at her. She looked at me as well. But this time, the gentleness in her eyes was gone. What I am seeing is determination and fear. She was afraid of what might happen to me. Then she clenched her jaw.
