Chapter 10- Memories and Planning

Mind Games [Hiatus]

“You still have this place. I thought you moved.” You looked around the room, curious as to the changes but to your surprise the room was exactly the same. You took a step into the small, stuffy apartment and smiled as the memories played back in your head. You quickly claimed your old spot

“I did move, but I came back a week ago. That's probably why you hadn't seen me after that day.”

Hyunseung rubbed his neck signalling how awkward it was to speak of that day, with the circumstances of the situation. Especially when he had left you alone, just like everyone had, when you were in critical condition in the hospital. There was a long moment of silence between you two.

“So, how is everyone.? Are you still close with Infinite?” Hyunseung suddenly smiled remembering the day you introduced him to that group of lovable misfits. You brightened at the thought of those oddballs.

Flashback

It was 11:30 at night and you were walking the campus in hopes of finding a quiet place to study since the library was closed. Mid-Terms were coming up soon and your goal was to finish top of the class, you didn't really have a social life besides your 'relationship' with Ren and the occasional call from your brother and 'parents'.

“Why are you studying so much? I don't want you to have a mental breakdown from all that work.” Daehyun would always voice his concerns for your well-being but your life depended heavily on school.

You dreamed to one day be a psychiatrist. Nobody understood your reasoning but didn't bother to question you, knowing you were 'reserved.'

Reserved....a funny word your classmates often used to describe you, although it was extremely inaccurate. Depressed, destroyed, pissed off at the world were all better than reserved because that was what you felt behind the facade you put up. No one understood you, you had your reasons since your childhood was painful, it only seemed fitting, to help others release their troubles from the past.

You finally found yourself somehow on the rooftop of one of the study buildings, staring off at the peaceful night sky, you sat down, embracing your legs. Everything seemed so peaceful from here, as if there was nothing wrong with the world, just the sky and stars. You spent your time observing the night sky carefully, seeing if you could recognize any constellations. *That one is Libra and that one is...I can't really- *

“That's Cassiopeia, queen of Aethiopia, wife of Cepheus and an all around tool.” You couldn't help but chuckle at the stranger's remark.

“Can I sit? I don't mean to interrupt on your downtime.”

“It's fine, please sit.” You patted the spot beside you before moving your hand back.

Finally, you could feel a comforting presence beside you. You turned your head to see the stranger gazing up at the stars. His features were defined, smaller eyes, cute nose and mouth, in total he was definitely one handsome guy.

“It almost seems like when you look at the stars and the night sky, there is something beyond these complex lives full of destruction and difficulty, a new life full of ease and understanding.” He finally turned his gaze to you.

“I studied mythology and astronomy in my spare time since I worked at the library. Sadly, I couldn't obtain a scholarship and my parents weren’t fond of the idea of paying that large quantity of money , so now I’ve somehow ended up in computer programming. If you ever need a hacker, I'm your man.”

You couldn't help but laugh at his straight forward and silly personality. What kind of person would tell a stranger their life story, with such confidence? How could you trust a stranger or even someone you knew, talking to them about the past? You admired his faith and casualty with others, but most of all you were jealous of his smile, that shined like the brightest star and was filled with pure joy and kindness.

“What's your story? How did you end up in Seoul University?”

“I'm studying psychology; my dream has always been to be a psychiatrist. It's kind of a weird dream job but it's the only reason I'd even tried in school. I'm on a full scholarship and I'm currently in my 2nd year, although unlike most kids in my year, I'm 18. I also am studying character analysis as a side class” You shifted uncomfortably.

“Damn, I didn't even know that was possible.”

“I started school early and skipped a couple grades, it's really nothing special.”

“Can you analyze my character than, just for fun?”

Now he completely turned his body to face you. You tried to act natural even with his close proximity, his presence was welcoming but that didn't stop the ever growing worry that he may be the same as everyone else.

“I guess I can try....please don't take what I say to seriously, I may be wrong.”

“I will try my hardest not to be offended.”

You completely turned your body to face him, realizing your faces are only inches apart. You examined every little detail from his face to his body, trying to read his emotions and thoughts. His expression made it to easy for you to read him.

“ You bite your nails to the point that your fingers are raw, it's a nervous habit you inhabited when you were a very young child after a stressful experience. You give off a kind aura, although you have gone through some serious . . . money troubles judging may your old, worn clothes and shoes, these problems have only made you more humble. You are part of a gang, looking at your ring that has an in infinite symbol engraved into it and choice of hair colour, obviously Infinite. You appear stable and reliable meaning you are probably their leader. Lastly, you are able to observe others and understand them, better than you are able to understand yourself, you rarely show your internal conflict with others.”

You woke up from your trance once you had finished the analysis. You were shocked to see the gap between you and him was smaller than before, maybe it was a bit too small. Before you were about to get up and leave he broke the silence.

“You are quite the prodigy.”

“Kamsamnida.”

“I have one thing to ask though.”

“Ask away.”

“Can I try to read your character?” You tensed but ended up nodding in approval.

It was now his turn to analyze you from top to bottom, slowing retaining every detail about you.

“You seem reserved to others due to your quiet demeanour, although in sooth, you're upset and hurt. You wear that necklace to remind your self that you are in control, that is why you are always clutching it like your life depends on it. You purposely wear big clothes, that cover most of your body, trying to repel people from you because you are scared of losing them or of them hurting you. You have visible scars on your face of years of abuse, even with concealer and this dim lighting. You currently are dating someone, judging by your ring, although it is not a true relationship. You clearly have an insanely high I.Q, although no one seems to notice your potential and talent as something more than a student.”

Nobody had ever bothered to analyze you because no one seemed to understand you. It scared you that someone had finally understood the darkness that lurked in your mind, talking about your hardships as if anyone could see your struggle. Your grip on your necklace tightened, your eyes slid shut in an attempt to stop your tears from falling. You were suddenly pulled into a strong embrace, his arms grasping you tightly as if he knew you needed the support, that was when you broke down, your tears wetting his shirt but he didn't seem bothered.

Both of you stayed in that embrace for several minutes until finally, you pulled away. You both stared into each others eyes, when you felt his hand swipe away the falling tears.

“I'm Sunggyu, by the way.” He pulled his hand away while getting up to walk away.

“I'm Kwan, but you can call me Ram if you want.”

“Ram, I like that.” He grabbed his backpack before turning away.

“Bye Ram.” He waved back while he reached the door.

“Bye Sunggyu-ssi!” For once you felt happy that you'd met someone new, who seemed reliable and kind.

End of Flashback

“Hyunseung, let's do something fun tonight.” Your mood increased as you remembered all those fun times with Sunggyu.

“Like what?” Hyunseung turned to face you, curiosity getting the best of him.

At the moment, an idea hit you. You needed to deal with that loser who tried to chloroform you earlier today. Suddenly, your evil side had been activated.

“Pull a nasty prank on an ex friend of mine. It's time that liar got a taste of his own medicine. You in?” You smiled evilly before cackling like the weirdo you were.

“And miss Ram's revenge. Hell no, let's get started, this is going to be memorable.”

“Well, this prank is only the beginning, he is going to suffer BIG TIME for being a sneaky prick.”

“Well, what are we waiting for. Let's get this party started.” Hyunseung clapped his hands together in excitement before you both sat down to devise a plan of attack.
