DanBi was sitting on her bed with her laptop on her lap inside her bedroom one evening. She was transferring the pictures from her phone to her laptop, before putting them all into one folder so that she can print them later. DanBi liked to take photos and print them before keeping them inside an album so that she can look at them every now and then.

Even though the world nowadays rarely used albums anymore, DanBi still liked the use of album and stored most of her pictures in there.

DanBi couldn’t help but to smile to herself as she looked through each and every picture that she had taken recently. They were the pictures that were taken when she was with SungMi and Zelo, and sometimes with the B.A.P boys. DanBi had never kept any pictures of her friends since she had no friends before and now that she had gotten to know SungMi and Zelo, she couldn’t believe just how many pictures of them she had now in her phone.

DanBi was clicking from picture to picture in her laptop and immediately laughed when she saw a candid picture of her, SungMi and the other boys at the carnival, which they had been to recently. In the picture both SungMi and Zelo, together with YoungJae were doing a weird expression on their faces with silly poses, while she herself and the others only did a normal peace sign while smiling at the camera.

She was looking at the next pictures with laughter escaping from when her mother knocked on the door, before taking a peek inside her room. DanBi smiled brighter upon seeing the sight of her mother and asked, “Yes, mother ?”

Mrs. Han returned DanBi’s smile and said, “Oh, nothing serious. Just that I heard you laughing from downstairs so I was just wondering what was it so funny that you kept on laughing.” Mrs. Han entered her room and sat on the edge of the bed.

DanBi scooted closer to her mother, still with her laptop on her lap and answered, “I was just looking through the pictures I took with my friends. I laughed because some of them are funny.” She then showed her mother the pictures that were taken when they were at the carnival, when they were celebrating SungMi’s birthday, and also the photos of when DanBi took SungMi out to eat.

Mrs. Han couldn’t help but to smile too and commented once in a while about the pictures, which some of them were taken by DanBi herself while some were taken by JongUp. Seeing those pictures of her daughter with her friends, Mrs. Han asked while looking perplexed, “Why most of your friends are boys ? Besides SungMi ? Don’t get me wrong but I just can’t help but to wonder.” And in her tone DanBi could detect a slight of protectiveness.

DanBi managed a little tremulous smile and answered, “Yeah, I know. The thing is, those other boys are Zelo’s friends actually. And Zelo is my classmate who I also spend my time with at school together with SungMi. Sometimes when we’re hanging out together, just the three of us, Zelo’s friends happen to join us too. They’re really a nice bunch, mother, and they love Zelo so much since he’s the youngest in their group of friends.”

Mrs. Han only nodded her head and began to observe B.A.P’s faces one by one, excluding Zelo whom she had gotten to know. She studied them carefully to detect the ‘bad boy’ signs in their faces but sighed in relief when she saw none. All she could see was a cheerful bunch of boys who acted like children and didn’t seem like they were dangerous enough.

DanBi knew what her mother was doing and pushed Mrs. Han’s shoulder lightly as she said, “Mom, they’re not bad boys. I know that there are six of them including my classmate but trust me, they’re nothing like the naughty boys out there at all. They take a good care of me and SungMi every time we hang out together. They’re like big brothers mom, so don’t worry.”

Mrs. Han crossed her arm and lifted an eyebrow at her daughter, “Of course I am, young lady. How can I not worry ? You’ve never had any friends before and now suddenly you’re friends with a bunch of boys and only one girl. They’re still boys, love. But then I do have to agree with you that they don’t look like the bad boys out there. However, looks can deceive, still. Just be careful okay ? Not that I don’t believe your choice of friends but just to be on the safe side.” Mrs. Han said as she patted DanBi’s shoulder.

DanBi nodded her head and threw her mother an assuring smile, “I will, mom. And I trust them that they won’t try anything funny. But still if anything goes wrong, I won’t waste another second to be out of their way.”

Feeling satisfied with DanBi’s answer, Mrs. Han ruffled DanBi’s hair and continued to look at the laptop’s screen as DanBi clicked more pictures to show her mother. A chuckle escaped from Mrs. Han’s mouth when a picture of SungMi getting smeared with cake on her face showed up.

“Dear Lord, who did that to her, the poor girl ?” Mrs. Han asked while looking at DanBi who started to laugh a little too. In the picture too they could see SungMi pouting while having creams all over her face.

“It was SungMi’s birthday and we were supposed to wish her and feed her with the cake, each and every one of us. Unfortunately despite feeding her properly, one or two of us decided to smear what was left of the cake on her face. That was why she was scowling.” DanBi explained in midst of her laughter.

Mrs. Han shook her head with a smile at their silliness and the next picture showed up, which was a photo of SungMi and DaeHyun standing side by side at the carnival. SungMi was smiling very happily with both her hands up in the air doing a peace sign; while DaeHyun only stood next to her, smiling softly with both his hands in his pockets; looking cool.

DanBi’s smile softened when she saw the picture of those two and said, “I really like this picture, mom. It was so difficult to get these two to stand beside each other without killing each other. In this photo it’s like these two have never fought before when in reality all they’ve been doing is fighting every day.”

Mrs. Han cocked her head and asked, “They fight with each other every day ? Why ?”

“Well, the thing is, SungMi is the type who always gets into trouble or creates one sometimes though she doesn’t realize it. While DaeHyun, the boy beside her, couldn’t help but to nag or scold her from time to time every time she’s in trouble. He actually means well and all he wants to do is to advice SungMi but somehow near the end, it turns out to be a fight.” DanBi explained while shaking her head remembering her two friends.

Mrs. Han only nodded in understanding as she kept looking at the picture of SungMi and DaeHyun. DanBi was about to click to the next picture when Mrs. Han stopped her, “Wait, is DaeHyun SungMi’s brother ?” she asked while squinting her eyes at the picture, changing glances from DaeHyun to SungMi back and forth. She even leaned nearer to the laptop’s screen to get a better look.

DanBi cocked her head in confusion and quickly said, “No, they’re not. Why ?”

Mrs. Han then shrugged nonchalantly and replied before backing away from the computer a little, “Nothing. Just that they look a bit alike actually, if you look at them a few times. It almost seems like they’re siblings.”

DanBi’s eyebrows creased and began to look at the picture closely, before slowly nodded her head in agreement. “You’re ... right, mom. They do actually look alike. I think both of them have the same eyes, don’t you think ?” DanBi continued clicking at other pictures and noticed that her mother was right. Now that she had mentioned it, DaeHyun and SungMi really looked akin.

Mrs. Han only nodded quietly and suddenly remembered something as she sat up straighter. Holding DanBi’s left shoulder, she excitedly asked, “Love, do you remember 10 years ago you used to play with these two little kids about your age at the park ? The one we went to when we were still living in that area ? Do you still remember ? If memory serves me right you only played with them once.”

DanBi closed her eyes and tried to recall of the incident that her mother just mentioned. However, it didn’t take long for her to remember the whole thing because she always carried that piece of memory in her thoughts with her everywhere she went.

“Yes, I do remember.” She said with a sad nod. “I keep pondering them from time to time and wondering where they are now. The both of them were like, my first two friends before we moved. I really had a lot of fun playing with them.” She continued and managed a soft, sad smile as she refreshed her memory of one particular day 10 years ago.

Even though the incident took place many years back, it still meant a lot to her as it was one of the best things that had ever happened in her childhood.

Mrs. Han smiled too and nodded in understanding. “I know you did, poppet. And I’m sorry if bringing it up will make you feel sad for not being able to see them again. It’s just that I couldn’t help but to mention it as these two friends of yours really reminding me of the ones you used to play with when you were six.”

DanBi’s forehead crinkled in confusion and said, “Really ? What makes you think so
