Few days later, things went on as usual for everyone. Well, SungMi was still in her own weird ways but it seemed like with the help from DanBi and the others, she managed to tone it down a little. She felt like her friends had been giving some trainings for her. SungMi didn’t really understand what they were trying to do but what she could see was that they were really trying hard.

SungMi could see herself improving a little as she had realized that she had been acting weirdly all these while. It was a tough time for her but she felt glad that there were people like her friends wanting to help her overcome her problem. She knew she was a childish person and now her friends were guiding her as much as they could.

However, as much as she was learning, it seemed like the fate was challenging her one day.

SungMi’s class was having a PE lesson in the field one morning. The girls and the boys were separated in their respective teams. The boys had gone off to play soccer on the other side of the field while the girls will be playing basketball.

The girls had been separated into two groups and with no further discussion, SungMi was in the same team as DanBi’s. The girl had been clinging onto DanBi’s arm defiantly and causing the team captain to roll her eyes and agreed with her anyway. After all, by the way some of them already saw it, it seemed like DanBi was the only person to calm SungMi down and handle her behaviours.

While waiting for the game to start, DanBi’s eyes wandered around and happened to land on DaeHyun’s class. She saw DaeHyun who was sitting by the window and was looking down at them too. DaeHyun waved at her and DanBi waved at him back with the both of them exchanging smiles.

DanBi nudged SungMi who was standing by her side and pointed towards DaeHyun, prompting her to say ‘hello’. SungMi who was playing with the ball looked up and saw DaeHyun as well. She held up both her hands and waved at him happily as if she hadn’t seen him for years. DaeHyun shook his head and waved at her with both his hands as well.

DanBi laughed at her attitude and DaeHyun was likewise, forgetting that he was in the class and the teacher was still talking at the front. His laughter caused the teacher and the rest of the class to be diverting their attentions from their books towards him instead. Even YoungJae who was sitting beside him looked at him questioningly. DaeHyun started to become awkward with the sudden attention he was receiving.

“Is there anything interesting that you would like to share with the rest of the class, Mr Jung ? As far as I know, there is nothing funny about the World Wars that we’re studying now. Or maybe you found it funny on parts that the rest of us haven’t seen ?” The teacher asked with a raised eyebrow. DaeHyun grinned and awkwardly shook his head. “No, seonsaengnim. I’m sorry for interrupting. The wind blew my ear and it was ticklish.” What a lame excuse.

YoungJae stiffled a laughter as he found that the excuse DaeHyun gave was so unacceptable. HimChan turned around to look at him with a ‘Really ? Are you serious ?’ look.

But lucky for him, the teacher only shrugged it off and continued the lesson. Not to forget to warn DaeHyun to pay more attention.

In the mean time, back in the field, SungMi was whining at DanBi on why did they have to be in the field that day. “It’s cold. Why can’t we just be indoors ?” SungMi asked while looking at her classmates who were now deciding which team would go first.

DanBi simply laughed at her and patted her shoulder. The game then started and SungMi and DanBi tried to blend in with the other girls. They were both no athletics so they played rather averagely. And they couldn’t help but to feel awe at some of the girls who were giving all they had for the game.

Then out of nowhere, as DanBi was about to run towards SungMi, a ball hit her very hard on the head and DanBi fell onto the ground face first. SungMi saw what happened and quickly ran to her friend. The game stopped immediately with the teacher blowing the whistle, telling them to take five and went to get a drink with some other girls.

The rest of the girls only stood by and watched instead of helping DanBi to get back up. “Are you hurt ?” SungMi asked as she checked for any visible injuries on DanBi’s arms and legs.

DanBi shook her head and threw her an assuring smile. “I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

Behind them they could hear a burst of laughter coming from a group of girls who were looking at them pathetically. In case you were wondering, they were the same group that knocked DanBi and caused her to fall the other day. And also the one that SungMi had faught with.

“Awe ~ I’m sorry, princess. I thought you saw that coming. Was it a bit too hard ? I really thought that you were going to catch it.” One of them asked and the rest of her friends started to laugh.

SungMi scoffed and said while crossing her arms, “You certainly did that on purpose. What is it that you girls have against DanBi ? She’s never hurt or done anything wrong to you.” DanBi held SungMi’s arm as if meaning to tell her to leave it but SungMi was not going to have any of it.

She wondered what the hell were these girls problems. If they were trying to get back at her, she wouldn’t mind but they seemed to be taking it out on DanBi, and SungMi couldn’t fathom why. At the back of her mind she was starting to doubt that they wouldn’t do the same thing to Zelo.

The girls laughed again and SungMi could only describe them in one word, ‘bullies’. Well, bullies didn’t actually need a reason to annoy someone. Because that was just what they did. They did what they wanted on purpose simply because of their own pleasure.

And since SungMi gave them no reactions throughout the times they were teasing her, they decided to use DanBi instead, knowing that SungMi will go berserk when anyone touched her friend.

And somehow, that really happened.

The girl who threw the ball flattered her eyes and said sweetly at SungMi, “It was really not on purpose, love. I think I threw it extra hard accidentally. On my defense I thought she can catch it but she was too busy running towards you. And how sweet of you to be defending her. If only I have a boyfriend like you.”

SungMi gagged at her pretence and shook her head, “Oh God, please stop doing that. You’re making me want to puke. Don’t have to act all girly and sweet at me. I’m a girl and your tricks won’t work with me. And sorry to disappoint but I’m straight. Please don’t fall deeper for me. I know you’ve been doing this to get my attention but I can’t accept your love. I’ve been wishing to have a normal marriage, if you must know. Besides, there are five of you. And I only have one heart.” She said very casually and gave a look of sympathy towards the girls.

DanBi’s eyes widened at her words and the rest of the girls dropped their jaws. Some of them couldn’t help but to smile too as they found what SungMi said to be funny. A number of them were already laughing while holding their stomachs.

The girls who were teasing her earlier felt so humiliated with what SungMi said. They didn’t expect that to come from her at all. What they were expecting to see was SungMi losing her temper and started yelling at them, at the same time watching her making a fool out of herself.

When SungMi got angry, it really wasn’t her best moments. But that wasn’t happening now.

“Yah ! Are you trying to say that we are not normal ?!” The second girl said, hands on her hips.

SungMi shrugged nonchalantly and scratched her head while saying, “I don’t know. Aren’t you girls supposed to be telling me that instead ? Besides, you can’t blame me for thinking like that. It seems like you girls have been chasing after me for years. I couldn’t help but to think you have a crush on me and want my attention. You know, since I’m a bit boyish and stuff.” She put on a proud smile while DanBi was wondering when will the teacher ever come back. Before any fights broke again.

The girls scoffed and said while crossing their arms, “Well, hate to break it to you but we’re not like that at all. Poor you for having that kind of impression. In fact, if you must know, all of us here have voted for you to be most likely to die alone. But we’ll still pray for your normal marriage nonetheless. And for your friend’s as well. I’m sure she’s gonna need it too.”

Those words were supposed to hurt SungMi but surprisingly she only smiled back at them. And DanBi was the one who was trying to hide her anger instead. The more she listened, the harder it was for her not to lose her top that very moment.

SungMi took the ball that was thrown at DanBi and twirled it around with her finger. Looking back at the girls, she said casually, “Gee, thank you so much. But DanBi will be fine.Now can we get back on the game, please ?” But without waiting for anyone to answer, SungMi flung the ball directly towards the girl who threw the ball at DanBi in the first place.

And guess what, it hit directly on the girl’s face, directly on her nose to be exact. All of DaeHyun's advice were gone out the window.

Urgh. To hell with that.
