They would have you believe that the world was simply divided into continents and further into countries. Rather, it was truly controlled by two opposing households. They governed major conglomerate businesses, seemingly unrelated, yet possessing common owners. 

What better way to keep this hidden, than hide it in plain sight? They control the content of the movies we watch, ridiculing and reducing themselves to folklore. Thus, the very concept of their existence is generally perceived as a myth. The deed is done, no one suspects that vampires, werewolves or magic exists; surely belief in the supernatural is ridiculous. They want.. no need you to see it that way. The revelation would be catastrophic. For as the close-minded creatures humans seem to be, they would, naturally seek to purge the world of any foe which seemed to be superior. They refuse to have their prey's population needlessly diminished by war.
