Chapter Six

"Come with me," the blonde girl pouted. Yuri raised her eyebrows, "What? You're going to bathe, aren't you? You want me to go with you?"

"We're both girls. You said it yourself," Jessica pointed out, taking Yuri's hand in hers and pulling her into the forest. Yuri let out a huff, "Whatever,"

Yuri kept her eyes on the tree as Jessica slipped out of her clothes. Jessica giggled as she saw Yuri avoiding any eye contact with her. She entered the small pool and began to cleanse herself as Yuri stood off to the side.

"You should clean too, you know?" Jessica called out. Yuri glanced over, "What?" she muttered.

Shrugging, Jessica raised her arms and ran her fingers through her hair, "You were all sweaty after making that spear thingy. You should come in too,"

"I'm– I'm fine,"

"If you say so,"

Yuri managed to see the small smirk Jessica had on her face and she rolled her eyes.

"We lost the suitcases so we don't have any extra clothes besides the one we have on and the ones in the hut," Yuri pointed out as Jessica walked out the water.

"I'll just air dry,"

Yuri widened her eyes.

"Kidding," Jessica chimed in a sing-song voice, slipping on her clothes, "Okay, let's go,"

"You couldn't have gone here by yourself?" Yuri asked as she felt Jessica's hand slip inside hers. Jessica walked behind Yuri as the younger girl shoved leaves and branches away from the path. Jessica shook her head.

"I would get lost,"

"We're barely that deep into the forest,"

"I would still get lost,"

"You're insufferable,"

"But you're stuck with me on this island so get used to it,"

That managed to shut Yuri up. Jessica bit down on her lower lip to contain her smile, eyes staring at the forest floor.

"Yuri. Yuri, wake up!" Jessica hissed, shaking the girl who was sleeping. Yuri opened an eye, "What is it?"

"I hear something," 

Yuri sat up immediately, "What's up? What does it—"

"Shhh!" Jessica clamped her hand against Yuri's lips.

"A pig?" Yuri muttered against Jessica's hands.

Both their eyes widened as they saw a boar walk into their hut, sniffing around and snorting. Jessica froze in her spot but Yuri immediately turned, grabbing the spear.

The boar let out a large huff, staring at Yuri for a second.

"Kill it," Jessica hissed.

"Easy for you to say," Yuri retorted, hesitating.

The boar seemed young. A little too young. That means..

"Yuri!" 

Turning, Yuri saw a much much larger boar enter the hut, seemingly angry and agitated.

The baby boar ran to it's mother and Yuri watched as the boar hesitated to charge at her, tusks forward and hind up. Yuri gulped, "Go on," she mumbled, "Get out,"

"Go," Yuri ordered in a louder voice, still mantaining her position with the spear. The boar turned and walked out, knocking out a piece of wood on the way.

Jessica gulped audibly, "What the was that?" she asked.

"A boar,"

"It freaking broke the hut wall,"

Yuri sighed.

"Why didn't you kill it?"

"I couldn't kill it," Yuri shook her head, "I don't want to kill it,"

"Yuri, we're on an island with wild animals," Jessica pointed to the hut door, "The next wild animal that walks into our hut might not be as passive as those damn boars,"

"Then let's make a better hut," Yuri suggested, almost desperately, "I can kill fish, but I don't think I can kill boars. Or.. or.." she trailed off. Jessica pressed her lips together, "Alright," she breathed out.

"Go back to sleep, Yuri, we'll do something about it in the morning,"

"I thought you wanted to fix the hut up!" Jessica exclaimed as she brushed by a small snake hanging from a tree branch, quickly catching up to Yuri, "Why are we jungle-searching?" 

"For signs of life,"

"If there were signs of life, they would be here by now. The plane crash wasn't exactly quiet," Jessica stated, reaching for Yuri's left hand as the girl's right hand had a rock. Yuri looked down at the blonde girl and felt warm at her touch, "Then we're just exploring,"

"Exploring? What if we get lost?"

"That's why I"m marking the trees," Yuri answered, slashing a tree to her right.

The older girl clamped a hand over , eyes widening in shocked fear, hand tightly holding onto Yuri's hand. Yuri gulped and was overwhelmed at the stench. Yuri's hand moved from Jessica's hand to the girl's shoulder and she pulled Jessica into a hug. 

Jessica buried her face in Yuri's neck, not wanting to see the scene. Yuri's eyes scanned over the bodies that were sprawled all around the clearing in the forest. Some seemed recently deceased, some were just decomposing, and some were already bones. Blood dirtied the green grass and severed heads were hanging from tree branches.

"No ing way," Yuri cursed and she heard Jessica let out a strangled sob.

They were on the other side of the island, and this is what they find. Some kind of sacrafice ritual. A human sacrafice riutal.

Yuri grabbed Jessica's hand, "Come on, let's get out of here," she whispered, "Come on,"

And they ran back to their side of the island, making it back just as the moon began to rise. Jessica still had silent tears running down her face. Yuri tried wiping the tears but to no use. Jessica kept crying, eyes red, wide with fear.

"That– That wasn't done by an animal, Yuri," she hiccuped, "There are humans on this island," 

"But instead of helping us," Jessica whispered, "They want to kill us,"
