Epilogue

Not So Lonely Island

Epilogue

A whistle came from behind Jessica, causing her to jump and turn around. "Yuri, you scared the hell out of me." Jessica said as she placed a hand over her heart. Yuri paid no mind to Jessica's shock and she walked closer, placing her hands on the bathroom counter on both sides of Jessica. She raised one hand, taking Jessica's now light brown hair and treading it through her fingers.

"New look?" Yuri smiled, looking at her lover with passionate eyes. Jessica nodded shyly.

"Blonde was the old me."

Yuri pouted. "Blonde suited you." She said. "But, brown isn't too bad, either." She smiled, leaning in and placing a small kiss on Jessica's lips.

Jessica pushed Yuri away. "Did you just come back from your last class?" She asked, trying to calm the blush on her cheeks. Yuri leaned in again, pecking Jessica's red cheeks.

"No. I have one more class." She answered, continuing to place kisses on the girl's smooth skin. "I wanted to see you though, so I came home." She continued her kisses. Jessica squealed and slapped Yuri's shoulder. "Stop!" She ordered, laughing as she did so. Yuri grinned and placed one last kiss on Jessica's lips.

"I love you." Yuri hummed with a gentle smile on her lips. Jessica's lower lip jutted out, causing her chin to wrinkle up. "I love you more." She replied with wide, innocent eyes.

"Impossible." Yuri narrowed her eyes, placing her hands on Jessica's waist. "Oh, tomorrow we have an interview."

"We?" Jessica raised an eyebrow. It had been a few years since their last interview. Everything had died down since then. Well, until news of them marrying got out. When people found out, the fans on social media nearly collapsed.

"It's a throwback show." Yuri placed a kiss between Jessica's eyebrows. "Yujee's." She said.

Jessica's eyes widened. "Yujee?"

"Mmm." Yuri nodded. "She invited us. Tomorrow morning."

"Okay." Jessica replied. "But I thought we wanted to put the island behind us."

"Let's admit it, Sica." Yuri said, leaning her forehead against Jessica's. "The island is always going to be a part of our lives."

The two of them walked out from behind the curtains as Yujee called them on the show with her usual intro.

"Welcome, welcome!" Yujee spoke excitedly. Yuri hadn't seen her in years. They quickly hugged each other before sitting down. "Wow, it's been a while since I've seen you two, hasn't it?" She asked with a bright smile. Jessica looked down at Yujee's hand, noticing a ring on her finger. Engaged.

"It has." Jessica nodded, lips curved up.

"How has life been for you two?" Yujee asked with genuine curiousity despite her and Yuri still being semi-close. "I'm sure lots has happened in the past few years."

"Uhm," Jessica looked over at Yuri, who just nodded her head for her to go on. "As most of you know, Yuri and I got married." The crowd immediately applauded and cheers rang out. Jessica's face heated up as she giggled. Yujee laughed along with Yuri. After the crowd calmed down, Jessica kept talking. "Yuri has been attending college and she's planning on becoming a film editor." She said with a smile. "As for me, I've been learning more about business."

Yujee's mouth made an 'o' shape as she nodded, indicating that she was listening intently. "Do you have any plans to take over your father's business?"

Jessica gave a comfortable smile, shaking her head. "Not at all."

Yujee sat up with interest, tilting her head to the side. "Oh? So do you plan on starting your own business?"

"Correct." Jessica's smile widened.

"Wow! That's amazing! Did you..." Yujee's voice droned off in Yuri's head as she stared at her wife. Never in her wildest dreams would she have thought she would be married to the girl that was currently holding her hand. Had someone told her at the airport that she would fall in love with the spoiled blonde girl, Yuri would'e probably laughed her head off. Now, it seemed impossible to even imagine not loving Jessica.

"Hey, Kwon Yuri." Yujee's voice cut off Yuri's thoughts. The girl blinked and turned her attention to the host.

"Y - Yes?"

"You lovesick puppy." Yujee laughed as Yuri smiled absentmindedly. "Ah, you two are too cute."

"I didn't even do anything." Yuri chuckled as Jessica hid her face behind Yuri's shoulder.

"You didn't have to." She said, her smile becoming soft. "It's all in your eyes."

"What's this?" Yuri blinked at the papers sprawled over her and Jessica's bed. The brunette rushed out from the bathroom, towel wrapped around her body.

"Nothing!" She denied, trying to gather all the papers with one hand as her other hand kept her towel in place. Yuri quirked an eyebrow and walked closer, wrapping an arm around Jessica's towel-covered waist. She pulled the girl away from the bed carefully and took one of the papers Jessica had failed to collect.

"Adoption papers." Yuri's eyebrows raised. She looked up from the paper and over to her wife. "You were looking at adoption papers?" Seeing that Jessica wasn't maintaining eye contact with her, Yuri placed a finger under the girl's chin and raised it.

"I'm not mad at you." Yuri smiled, kissing her. "I'd love to adopt a child. Why didn't you tell me you wanted to?"

"Well... You have college and... I don't know. I thought we'd be too busy to take care of one." Jessica shifted uncomfortably. "I was just looking at some of the kids..."

Yuri grinned. "Did any of them in particular catch your interest?"

Jessica blushed and blinked rapidly. "A couple of them..." Yuri's smile widened.

"Why don't you go get dressed and then we'll talk about this?" Yuri suggested, her hand sneaking under Jessica's towel and tapping her bare bottom. Jessica slapped her hand away and set the papers down before returning to the bathroom.

When Jessica heard the front door open, she sighed in relief. "Babe!" She called out.

"Yes?" Came the sing-song voice of her wife. Yuri turned the corner and appeared in their living room where Jessica was standing nervously. Yuri giggled and wrapped her arms around the older girl's waist. "Don't be so nervous, it'll rub off on Taeyeon." She said, brushing her nose against Jessica's.

The brunette showed clear signs of distress. "But today's the first day of her coming home! What if she doesn't like us?" She pouted. Yuri placed her hands on Jessica's cheeks, squishing the girl's face.

"Shut up." She laughed. Jessica whined and pushed her away. "You're not helping!"

"Taeyeon is six years old, Sica." Yuri chuckled, only pulling her closer. The two of them decided not to get a baby as it would become too much for them to handle, especially at such a busy time in their life. They decided to get a toddler and chose Im Taeyeon, a little girl who had a bright smile on her adoption file. "The girl won't have a reason to dislike you."

"You say that now but - "

Ding dong!

"SHE'S HERE!" Jessica screamed, running to the door. Yuri watched as her wife paused and flattened out her dress before opening the door. There stood a worker from the adoption center and a small girl. "Come in." Jessica smiled widely. Yuri walked over, bending down to reach Taeyeon's height.

"Hi, Taeyeon." She greeted softly, a warm smile on her lips. This was her daughter. The worker walked off with Jessica to do some paperwork whilst Taeyeon was left with Yuri. Taeyeon had a small baby blue backpack with her and was gripping onto a stuffed Mickey Mouse. Yuri led the child to her new room.

"This is where you will sleep." She turned the light switch on. Taeyeon looked up and around the room, setting her backpack on the bed. "Your mom and I's room is just across from here, okay?" She said with a smile. Taeyeon nodded and peered up at Yuri.

"Are you my mommy?"

"Now I am." Yuri smiled. "Are you hungry? Let's get you something to eat."

Yuri was softly woken from her slumber. She felt the bed dip with an extra weight and felt something come between her arms around Jessica's waist. It was Taeyeon. The girl, gripping her Mickey Mouse plushie, stared at Yuri was terrified eyes. Jessica also woke up. She turned around.

"Oh, Taeyeon?"

Taeyeon, who was in between her two new moms, began to tear up. "I had a nightmare."

"Sweetie." Jessica cooed and kissed the back of her head. Yuri hugged her daughter as Jessica carressed the girl's long black hair.

"It's okay. You're here with us." Yuri hummed, feeling Taeyeon's tiny hands hugging her back.

"Don't let go!" Taeyeon's high-pitched voice rang out as her feet continued to pedal.

"I won't!" Yuri replied, holding onto the back of the bike. She lied, though. She eventually let go without Taeyeon knowing. Jessica, who was standing off to the side, smiled widely and clapped her hands. Taeyeon widened her eyes.

"You let go!" She screamed, scared yet proud of herself.

"You're doing it!" Yuri exclaimed. The young girl eventually hit the curb and fell over, but she was smiling so wide you would've never guessed she had a small cut on her knee.

"I did it!" Taeyeon raised up her arms as Jessica helped her get up.

With the job Yuri had aquired, it allowed her to work from home, making it much more convient for both her and Jessica. The years passed by quickly. Before they knew it, Taeyeon was in her second year of high school. Jessica had started her business, branching into the fashion world. Everything was going smoothly. Yuri could've never imagined a better life. And to think, years before all of this, she had believed her life was at a dead end.

"I love you so much." Yuri whispered to the top of Jessica's head one night as they both laid in bed, tired from a day's work. Jessica leaned up and kissed Yuri, her lips familiar with the ones pressed against her own. They pulled away breathless and Jessica buried her face in the crook of Yuri's neck.

"You know what Taeyeon told me today?"

"What?" Yuri asked. By the tone of Jessica's voice, she knew it wasn't something pretty. They had to deal with Taeyeon's slight attitude problem before. So this was what it felt like to be a parent. Yuri had thought after Taeyeon had thrown a fit. Taeyeon had said some pretty hurtful things to the two of them, mostly just revolving around how they weren't her real parents. It didn't hurt any less with each time she said it, though. Jessica cried a lot about it.

"She said it was our fault she likes girls." Jessica mumbled.

Yuri held onto Jessica tighter. "I'll talk to her tomorrow."

"Kwon Taeyeon." Yuri said as the girl stepped out into the kitchen.

"Yes?" Came the reply.

"You made your mother cry last night."

"Which one?" Taeyeon asked sarcastically, bitterness in her tone. Yuri was stunned for a moment. Was this how her mother felt? Did her mother's heart ache as much as Yuri's did at that moment?

"What's wrong, Taeyeon?" Yuri asked, trying to keep her cool. She could see in Taeyeon's eyes that something was bothering the girl. She was her daughter, after all.

"Nothing's wrong." Taeyeon replied, opening the fridge. "Is there nothing to eat?"

"Taeyeon." Yuri called out. "Talk to me."

Taeyeon shut the fridge door with more force than necessary. "There's nothing to talk about."

"If you won't talk to me, how am I supposed to help you?"

"You made me this way!" Taeyeon suddenly burst out, turning on her heel to face her mom. "You and.. and... her! You made me this way!" Yuri already felt like crying, but she kept her composure seeing as her daughter was already crying.

"If you two hadn't adopted me then I wouldn't like Tiffany!" She screamed. Yuri didn't know what to do. She was never the one to deal with Taeyeon's emotional problems. That was Jessica's specialty. And Jessica was out working... She didn't know what else to do besides pull her daughter into her arms for a loving embrace.

"There's nothing wrong with it, Taeyeon." Yuri whispered. "There's nothing wrong with it." She repeated.

Taeyeon hiccupped, hugging her mother. "Everyone - "

"It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, Taeyeon." Yuri cut her off, pulling away to look at her in the eyes.

"You love who you love." Yuri smiled slightly, wiping away the tears rolling down her daughter's beautiful face. "And there's nothing wrong with that."

Taeyeon's bottom lip began to quiver before she suddenly broke down again.

"I'm sorry." She cried, hugging tightly onto her mother. "I didn't meant what I said. I didn't mean any of it." Taeyeon gripped Yuri's shirt. She hummed and patted Taeyeon's hair.

"You should tell that to your mom." Yuri said. "Your other mom." She clarified, causing Taeyeon to let out a laugh despite the tears.

Tiffany sat with Taeyeon on the couch, the two of them watching movies. Jessica nudged Yuri's waist with her elbow from the dining room. She pointed to the couple on the couch. "They're holding hands." She whispered to her wife.

Yuri laughed. "Stop being creepy, Sica."

Jessica narrowed her eyes. "I'm trying to be a good mom. I'm looking to see if that girl is any good."

"She's the dictionary-definition of 'good', Jessica." Yuri continued to set up the dinner table. "Good grades, good manners, good face, good - "

" - Okay, now you're the one being creepy."

"Hey, moms," Taeyeon called out as she chewed on her rice. Tiffany had gone home, leaving just the small family of three to eat. "When are we ever going to go on vacation?"

Jessica placed some more rice on Taeyeon's plate. "I don't know. Where do you want to go?" Yuri listened in to the conversation with curiosity.

"I've always wanted to travel by plane." Taeyeon mumbled.

Yuri and Jessica immediately looked at each other, a knowing look in their eyes.

"No. No planes." They said in unison.

and that concludes Not So Lonely Island! i can't thank you all enough for all of the support i've gotten with this fic (even tho i have been a bad author with updates and such)

it was unbelievable the amount of support i got when i first published this fic. even though it was legit years ago, i remember being like 'woah wtf'

let it be known that this fic was definitely my favorite fic to write. it was just so interesting to me that i found it fun to write about. it strayed from its original purpose of being a survival story but it's okay! who knows maybe i have a yoohyun sequel i have in mind

BUT THANK YOU ALL! I LOVE ALL OF YOU!

Like this story? Give it an Upvote!
Thank you!
