Chapter Fourteen

Not So Lonely Island

Chapter Fourteen

"Are you okay?" Asked Jessica's maid to the young woman as she watched her stare blank faced at her phone.

"Huh?" She replied shortly, she shrugged as she realized her lack of expression and then smiled to the older woman. "I'm fine, thanks for asking."

"Are you sure you're okay?" The maid asked as she pressed her palm against her forehead, Jessica just smiled brighter at her, finally putting her at ease.

"Just got lost in my thoughts, sorry." Jessica replied simply.

"It's been happening quite a lot lately." The maid said with worry. "If you're not fully... over what happened, you should rest."

"Don't worry, I'm fine." Jessica said assuringly and the old woman just nodded, finally at peace with the answer.

Jessica accompanied the old lady out of her room and as soon as the woman was far away enough, she closed her bedroom door quickly and locked it.

Her smile faded away, her eyes filled themselves with tears and she couldn't help but spill them away. She threw herself on her bed and cried silently, hoping noone would bother her.

"I lost her." She said as tears filled her eyes. "I lost her and it's all my fault."

And as cried painfully she couldn't help but reminisce of when Yuri had held her in the island... when she had told her it was okay, when she had kissed her and when they... had gotten intimate. Everything seemed so distant now...

It was all her fault.

A few minutes earlier...

Jessica was busy reading her emails, ever since she and Yuri had accepted on doing the interview with Yujee, she had gotten even more requests and invitations on shows, call them variety shows, talk shows, radio shows, her popularity had increased so much she had even been offered endorsements.

It was insane how something as awful as your plane crashing and getting stranded in an island could bring her, bring them all of that.

Just as she was about to reply to her manager, one her dad had hired after the inmense popularity that seemed to be dawning upon her, a call, one she hadn't expected at all, was heard on her phone.

Park Yujee was calling.

She considered wether to answer or not... but she decided she should reply or she'd come as disrespectful.

"Hello?" She replied unsurely. not really knowing what to expect from the call.

"Jessica-ssi!" The girl exclaimed, obviously excited. "I'm sorry for bothering you...I'm sure you're really busy, but I didn't know who else to call..."

"No, it's okay!" Jessica said, smiling even if she didn't mean it at all, it helped to make her words sound real. "You can call me Jessica by the way, I'm fine with it."

"Thanks, Jessica." Yujee said happily. "You can call me Yujee."

Jessica only hummed in apreciation and a small awkward silence followed then.

"Jessica, the reason why I called was to tell you that I asked Yuri out and she accepted." Yujee said and Jessica felt the air escape her as that was revealed.

"Really?" She exclaimed in a surprised high pitched voice.

"Yes! I had intended on asking her out as friends first..." She started and Jessica could already feel how the girl was unconsciously playing with her heartstrngs. "But she's so straight forward! After I asked her for coffee she just asked me if it was as friends or if it was a date." Jessica could feel her heart breaking slowly but she couldn't say or blame Yuri at all, after all, she brought it upon herself. "So I took a shot and she agreed."

"Wow that's..." Horrible. Heartbreaking. Sad. "Great!"

"Yeah, so..." Yujee continued, a shy tone painting her voice. "I don't really know anything about her... and you guys are really close friends so I thought maybe you could help me get to know her better."

Jessica wondered for a second, and realized really, she wouldn'tbe much help at all.

"I don't think I can help you..." Jessica replied honestly, feeling a pinch in her heart as she realized she knew nothing about the girl she spent all that time completely alone with on an island. "I mean... I spent a lot of time with her alone and I know how she is... but I don't know what she likes."

"How come?" Yujee asked, a surprised yet curiou tone clear on her voice.

"When you're in a situation like the one we were in... you don't think of home, because when you do you feel it's so far away." Jessica replied, feeling tears suddenly want to make their way out. "You just think of surviving, you don't talk about who your favorite artist was or stuff like that."

"I'm so sorry, that was so insensitive from me." Yujee said with a guilt ridden voice.

"Don't worry." Jessica said, the wonderful memories of her and Yuri running around her mind. "It's all in the past."

"But is it all in the past really?" Jessica wondered to herself as she buried herself deeper into the pillow, pitying herself for not being brave enough and actually tell Yuri how she felt.

Yuri just stared at her phone like she had done ever since Yujee had hung up, her mind clouded of thoughts yet she couldn't really grab on what she was thinking.

There were so many things yet so little in her mind at the same time it made no sense.

"I'm so stupid." She whispered. "At this pace I'll never get over her."

Here she was, after accepting going out with a beautiful girl with lots of doubts and questions all over her mind.

All of them about Jessica.

Had Jessica ever felt something for her? Did whatever they had at the island held some meaning to her? Did Jessica forgot about all of it?

Had Yuri ever made her truly happy?

The possibility that those questions' answers are actually yes were so small.. yet.. her heart yearned for those answers.

She yearned for Jessica.

Going out with Yujee was just something she'll do to distract her mind from the icy girl she met at the island that looked so warm now. But even with that all she thought about was Jessica.

Would the older girl get jealous at her going out with Yujee? Would she go and cause a scene? Throw a tantrum? Slap her? Do anything that could hint her that the warm ice princess felt something for her?

She wanted all that to happen so bad she felt bad for Yujee.

But she wanted Jessica so much she couldn't care much.

"What have you done to me Jessica Jung?" Yuri murmured to herself before falling asleep.
