Chapter Twenty

Not So Lonely Island

Chapter Twenty

Yuri fumbled with her fingers. Yujee raised an eyebrow at the girl's behavior. "You alright?"

"Yujee, I think we should break up." She said after finally composing herself. She has to do this to be with Jessica.

Yujee widened her eyes. "W - What?" Yuri couldn't look at the pained expression on Yujee's face, she decided to look at the ground. "Did I do something?"

"No, no." Yuri immediately denied that, looking back up at the girl. "You're great - you're amazing, but..."

"I'm not Jessica." Yujee dejectedly slumped into her seat. Yuri widened her eyes. "How did..."

"I always had a bit of a hint. I trusted you." Yujee shrugged. Yuri shook her head. "I didn't... I didn't cheat on you, if that's what you thought."

"Oh? But - " Yujee cut herself off. The younger girl gave a small smile. "You're a great person, Yujee. I hope you know that."

"You always tell me." Yujee laughed a little bit despite the heartache. "I'm glad you two are together now."

"My feelings weren't lies, you know that, right?" Yuri said, standing from the bench as Yujee did. Yujee hummed. "I believe you." She placed a hand on Yuri's right cheek before leaning in and kissing her left.

"Thanks." Yujee whispered. Yuri gave her a look. "Why are you thanking me?"

"For not cheating behind my back, I suppose? For being upfront about it and not avoiding the topic. Just... thanks. For being mature about it."

"I should be the one thanking you for not lashing out on me." Yuri said to lighten the mood. Yujee put a bit of distance between them and smiled. "You know, you two always did make a good couple. Even when I was dating you and I saw you two on TV, I thought, 'Wow, that'd be one killer couple'."

Yuri laughed and lightly pushed Yujee's shoulder. "You're ridiculous."

"So I've heard." Yujee smiled.

"Friends...?" Yuri asked tentatively. Yujee tilted her head. "Give me some time first." Yuri nodded, completely understanding it.

"You have my phone number." She said. Yujee's lips curved upwards. "That I do. See you around, Kwon Yuri." She waved before walking off. Yuri let out a deep breath.

"I broke up with her." Yuri said upon entering Jessica's room. Jessica, who was laying on her bed on her phone, lowered her phone and quirked an eyebrow.

"Wow, you really want to kiss me, don't you?" She teased. Yuri blushed. "That's not why - "

"I was kidding, Yuri." The blonde girl sat up and put her phone to the side. "How'd she take it?" She asked, patting the spot next to her on the bed. Yuri sat down with a huff. "Really well, actually."

Jessica eyed Yuri. "And how are you taking it?" She asked quietly. Yuri pouted. "I feel... not good." She admitted honestly. Jessica nodded, placing a hand on Yuri's arm. "I'm sorry. It must be difficult for you. I know you like her."

"But I like you more." Yuri turned her head to look at Jessica. The blonde girl backed away slightly, seeing as their faces were really close. "That doesn't change the fact that you like her, too." Her eyes flickering down to Yuri's lips.

"I just - I feel guilty." Yuri sighed.

"It's okay. If she's amazing enough to get you to like her then I'm sure she'll find someone new in no time." She patted Yuri's arm. "And," She leaned in, causing Yuri's heart to stop, "you have me." She pressed her lips to the corner of Yuri's lips, pulling away with a shy smile.

"I do have you." Yuri said after a moment, as if she were just realizing it. Jessica's smile widened. "Can I call you my girlfriend now, Jessica?" Yuri asked, tilting her head.

"I thought you'd never ask." Jessica rolled her eyes in mock annoyance. Yuri playfully pushed her, causing Jessica to giggle. "I'd love to be your girlfriend." Jessica said seriously, a smile playing on her lips. Yuri's heart filled with joy and she had to look away from Jessica or else she'd start blushing furiously (more than she already was).

"Sica, it's getting late. I should head back to my room." Yuri mumbled as her eyes squinted at her bright phone screen. Jessica hugged Yuri tighter. "Just sleep here."

"Eh?" Yuri asked in surprise. Jessica peeked an eye open. "Unless you don't want to?"

"That's not it. I..." She trailed off, not knowing how to explain herself. Jessica patted the girl's stomach and kissed the back of her hand. "I understand. We'll take it slow, yeah?" She smiled gently. Yuri looked up at the ceiling.

"What did I do to deserve such an angel as my girlfriend?" She asked playfully to the heavens. Jessica smacked her thigh. "Go to your room."

In all seriousness, Yuri did appreciate how accepting Jessica had been. She wasn't getting jealous over Yuri's lingering feelings. She was being patient with her. The fact that she had even agreed to start dating Yuri despite the girl still liking Yujee showed that she trusted her. Yuri leaned down and pressed her lips to Jessica's cheek. "Thank you." She mumbled.

Jessica pretended her cheeks weren't burning as she closed her eyes and feigned agitation. "Yeah, yeah. Get out of my room." She muttered. Yuri was beaming at the cute blonde girl.

"Goodnight." She called out before exiting the room.

Yuri watched Jessica watch her TV show, catching up on what she had missed while they were at the island. Jessica, who was well aware of Yuri staring at her, spoke. "What would your parents say about you dating me?" She asked randomly.

"They were fine with me dating Yujee." Yuri answered. "I'm sure they won't mind me dating you." She said. "I'm more worried about how your parents would react."

Jessica paused the show and pursed her lips. "I think they might be a little angry at first." She said. "They'll get over it eventually. Besides, it's not like either of them are really close to me." Yuri furrowed her eyebrows in worry. She didn't want to cause trouble to the Jungs. Jessica reached her hand up and used her thumb to flatten the wrinkles between Yuri's eyebrows. "Relax." She ordered.

"If anything, I'll just do some modeling to make my father happy, okay?" Jessica raised her eyebrows. "Don't tell me you're going to break up with me now. We haven't even kissed as an official couple yet." She joked. Yuri snapped out of her worried state when she heard the word 'kiss'.

"You're insufferable." Yuri rolled her eyes. Jessica tackled the tan girl and laid on the girl's body.

"That's funny. I thought the same thing about you when we first met on the island." Her voice vibrating against Yuri's chest as she buried her face in the crook of Yuri's neck, straddling the girl. Yuri sighed and just wrapped her arms around Jessica's waist - she got used to the touchiness.

"You were the annoying one." Yuri retorted, poking Jessica's side. The girl flinched and squealed. Yuri winced at the high-pitched noise right next to her ear.

She felt Jessica smack her shoulder. "Don't do that."

"What will happen if I do it?" Yuri teased. Jessica pecked Yuri's neck, effectively shutting her up. "Not fair." Yuri gulpd. "You said we were going to take it slow."

"And I said not to do that to me." Jessica countered, lifting herself up to face Yuri. She narrowed her eyes at the girl whose nose brushed against hers. "Got it?"

Yuri groaned and closed her eyes. She couldn't stare at Jessica too long. She was too beautiful for her to take. Jessica raised an eyebrow at Yuri's reaction. "Am I that ugly?"

"No. Quite the opposite, actually." Yuri mumbled. Jessica grinned and leaned down, placing a kiss on Yuri's cheek. Yuri opened one eye, keeping the other shut. "Why'd you do that?" She asked.

"Because you're cute." Jessica sat up, setting herself down on Yuri's stomach. Yuri let out another groan and placed her hands over her face, ignoring the warmth radiating off of Jessica's body and onto her stomach. Jessica giggled before laying back down in her original spot, face nestled in Yuri's neck. "When can I meet your family?"

Yuri's eyes popped open. "What?"

"When can I meet your family?" Jessica repeated calmly.

"I... I don't know." Yuri replied. "You want to meet them soon?"

"Do you not want me to?" Jessica asked back. At the small amount of hurt in Jessica's tone, Yuri's heart nearly broke right then and there.

"Let's go right now. Let's go meet my family right now." She said enthusiastically. "Right now." She nodded. Jessica giggled and got off of her girlfriend.

"So this is the famous Jessica Jung!"

Yuri widened her eyes at her mom's first sentence the moment they walked into the house. "Mom!" She scolded her. Jessica covered her smile with one hand and bowed. "Hello." She greeted politely, her hand subconciously finding Yuri's.

"Of all the things she could've said to you..." Yuri mumbled under her breath. Jessica nudged her. "It was funny." She smiled.

"Jessica, are you going to stay for dinner?" Yuri's mom asked. Jessica nodded. "If that's okay with you all."

"I'm sure Yujin won't mind at all. Yoona should be home from school any time now." Her mother said with a smile. "You two go do whatever. I'll call you out when the food's done."

Yuri dragged Jessica to her bedroom. "Your mom seems nice." Jessica stated as Yuri closed the door. "And Yoona's still in school?"

"She's in her last year of high school." Yuri said, looking around her own room that seemed to strange to her. Jessica looked at the empty walls.

"You don't like decorating, do you?"

"Nope." Yuri shook her head. She switched the topic to something she had been thinking about the whole walk to her house. "Should I just go out and tell them all at dinner that you're my girlfriend?"

Jessica smiled. "That's why you've been spacing out, isn't it?"

Yuri rubbed the back of her neck and chuckled nervously. "Yes...?"

The older one walked closer to her and stood on her toes, pressing her lips on Yuri's cheek. "How precious." She said, causing Yuri to burn up.

"You tell them how ever you want to tell them, Yuri." Jessica smiled. "I'll still be your girlfriend either way."

"I'm so lucky." Yuri said in a monotone but Jessica knew that she meant it.

"Hey, Yujin, mom, Yoona." Yuri said randomly during the dinner. She successfully gained their attention. "Jessica's my girlfriend."

The people just blinked at her, not looking the least bit surprised. Yoona spoke up first. "Didn't we establish this a long time ago?"

"What?" Yuri widened her eyes and Jessica just looked on with an amused glint in her eyes.

"We thought you were dating since... since a long time ago, actually." Yoona explained, narrowing her eyes. "I mean, you do basically live with her."

"So you're fine with it?"

"Why wouldn't we be?" Yujin joined in. "If Jessica's who you want to date then so be it." He smiled.

Jessica giggled. "You were nervous over nothing."

Yuri was speechless. Her mom laughed, causing the whole table to erupt in light laughter. It had been a while since Yuri had witnessed such a pure family dinner like this. She missed it.

Her hand reached for Jessica's hand and she interlaced their fingers, staying like that for the rest of the dinner.

"I didn't agree to this!" Yuri whispered harshly as Jessica pulled her through the hallway. They were currently on their way to meet none other than Mr. Jung. "Jessica Jung, are you listening to me?!"

"Yeah, yeah." Jessica hummed. She opened one of the doors without knocking and walked in. She stepped in front of the man sitting down behind the large desk. He seemed very focused on whatever he was looking at. "Daddy?"

"Oh, Jessica!" The man's eyes lit up and he stood up,  though he made no move to embrace Jessica in any way. He walked around the desk. "I haven't seen you except on TV!" Yuri widened her eyes at the statement. How could you not make time to see your daughter after her almost being dead?

"Yeah," Jessica mumbled something else under her breath that Yuri couldn't quite catch. "Uhm, anyways, this is Kwon Yuri."

"Ah, you were on the island with Jessica, right?" Mr. Jung asked warmly. Yuri nodded. "Yes."

"If it weren't for you, my daughter probably wouldn't be here right now." He said. "Thank you so much." Yuri could tell that he meant it. She nodded once more. "It's nothing."

"It's everything." Mr. Jung replied instantly. "My little girl wouldn't be alive had it not been for you. I owe you my life, Yuri."

Jessica was stunned at her father's words. She tightened her grip on Yuri's hand. Before she could announce the news of her and Yuri dating, Mr. Jung began to talk.

"I'm sorry I haven't been able to properly see you since you've gotten back. I've just been so busy with work. And I know that's no excuse... and as a father my first priority should be you, but I'm doing all this work for you. You understand that, right?" He smiled, not comprehending how deeply his words were hitting Jessica. Jessica, who barely knew what affection was without materialistic items, was recieving a sincere speech from her father. "You'll always be my little baby." He placed an awkward hand on her shoulder.

"I'mdatingYuri." Jessica rushed out in a short breath, knowing that she was going to start bawling and if she started to cry she'd never be able to tell him about their relationship. Mr. Jung widened his eyes and looked at Yuri before back down at Jessica. He smiled.

He smiled.

"That's great." He commented. "I wouldn't have chosen anyone better to date my little girl."

Jessica was quiet the whole way home. When they were in the confinement of Jessica's room, Yuri felt the older girl rush into her arms and bury her face into her shoulder. And, everything that she had held back was released. Yuri wrapped her arms around the smaller girl's frame, holding her close as she cried.

Yuri couldn't help but smile. Jessica had always been 'Daddy's Little Girl'. She kissed the girl's head and held her close.

"He's never been that affectionate towards me before." Jessica cried.

"There's a first time for everything." Yuri grinned, pulling back and wiping the tears from Jessica's flushed cheeks.

Jessica whimpered. "I love you."

Yuri laughed a little, leaning in and pressing her lips against Jessica's quivering ones. "I love you, too." She whispered with a smile.

"Such a baby." Yuri commented as Jessica's tears continued to flow.

The girl just slapped her arm.

it's interesting how jessica's the more 'dominant' one off the island whilst yuri is the more 'dominant' one on the island. just thought i'd point it out.
