Chapter Thirteen

"Are you okay?" Asked Yuri's stepfather to the mentioned as they were walking away from the studio.

"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine." She replied shortly, she didn't want to talk right now, the only person she wanted to talk to was Jessica but she also didn't want to bother the older girl. She liked her too much to do that.

"You don't sound fine, does it have anything to do with that girl?" He asked with piqued interest.

"Why would it have anything to do with Jessica?" Yuri asked, her eyes avoiding her step father's eyes.

"Because the first thing you did when you entered the studio was look for her." He said simply. "And you just exchanged a few words, I figured you'd talk more."

"I just didn't want to bother her, she was probably busy." Yuri replied after thinking a few minutes. "She's probably got more interviews and shows to attend."

"You know, when they asked you to do the interview they told me something..." He started, catching her attention. "They told me she wouldn't do it unless you were on, she's been offered several interviews before this one you know..."

Yuri once again ignored her step father and started walking faster, wanting to get away from there as quick as she could.

"We're just not meant to be..." Yuri murmured to herself as she stuffed her hands in her pockets, glancing at the sky for a moment and silently wishing she was back in the island, away from everything that made her incompatible with Jesssica.

"Jessica-ssi," A voice was heard, so Jessica turned in the direction of the voice, only to find Yujee talking to her politely, contrary to how she talked to ther and Yuri during the interview. 

"Yes, Yujee-ssi?" She replied just as politedly, she didn't want a scandal about her being disrespectful.

"Have you... have you seen Yuri-ssi?" Yujee said with a bright smile, Jessica had a bad feeling about it, but decided to not comment about it.

"She left just a few minutes ago." Jessica replied simply, smiling at the other woman although she didn't feel quite pleased.

"Well... I'll ask my manager how to contact her then," Yujee said as she sighed dreamily.

"How did you manage to be all alone on an island with her and not fall for Yuri?" Yujee asked after a few minutes of silence, startling Jessica. "Seriously with that voice, that cool aura, those looks and those arms, seriously I would've been all over her." 

'You are already all over her' Jessica thought bitterly as she smiled awkwardly at Yujee. 

"Well, seems like I'll have to ask her out later." Yujee said. "But if you see her later, give her a heads up I'm interested."

"Of course." Jessica said while smiling brightly but what she really wanted to say was 'No way in hell.'

She couldn't say it and will never say it of course. Yuri was hers while they were in the island, but now? Jessica would like to consider her still as hers but how could she with the treatment she offered the younger one?

"I'm sorry Yul." She whispered to herself before she smiled brightly at every member of the staff as she headed out of the studio.

Yuri laid on her couch as she watched the late rerun of her interview with Park Yujee alongside with Jessica.

Jessica looked so stunning she couldn't even process it properly, her pearly white teeth shining brightly alongside that smile and smiling eyes.

Something she would've never been able to witness if it wasn't because it wasn't directed to her.

It may sound pretty pessimistic, but she was sure that if they weren't completely alone like in that island they wouldn't be able to be together, she didn't make Jessica happy, she never could get her to smile like that, she was... she was just the only source of human warmth and socialization Jessica could grab on, so she didn't blame Jessica. She understood.

She completely blamed herself for falling too hard for Jessica.

"Yuri." Her stepfather called out, causing her to turn in the direction of his voice. 

"Yes?" She replied simply, changing the channels without really looking at the TV.

"Park Yujee is calling you." He answered and she frowned, did she want another interview?

Yuri extended her hand and grabbed the phone.

"Hello?" Yuri said as she stood up from the couch and headed away from her step father. She didn't like the idea of him listening to any of her conversations, no matter how important or unimportant the call was.

"Oh, hello Yuri-ssi!" Yuri frowned at the politeness used by the host, she didn't call her that way earlier.

"Hello Yujee-ssi, you can call me Yuri if you'd like." She didn't really like the need many koreans had for always speaking formally. Maybe that was one of the reasons why her step father wanted to her to come to Korea in the first place.

"Well, then Yuri," She could hear the other woman was nervous, although she couldn't really imagine why was she nervous of speaking to her out any other person in the world. "Would you like to, you know, grab a cup of coffee with me?"

"You want to go out with me?" Yuri asked incredully. "As in friends or as a date?" She was straight forward, something she learned by spending so much time in the states.

"I'd like a date, but if you want to go out as friends I'd be okay with it too." Yujee said, sounding extremely shy. 

Yuri couldn't help but find it slightly cute.

But before she could agree or reject the idea of a date the thought of Jessica crossed her mind.

Maybe it was time to let her go.

"Yeah, I'd really like to go on a date with you."
