20 - Himchan
Gang RoyaltyA Little Violence
“You brought food back! Damn you have the best timing ever!” I exclaimed as I saw the bags of food my by best friends hands.
Not moments ago the four of us were talking about how much we wanted food at the moment. Then our fabulous best friend and gang leader comes walking into the warehouse with bags of food from our favorite place.
“Yeah, here.” She said rather platonically as she handed Yongguk the food as she passed by to go to her office. She isn’t tired, her voice sounds different then it does when she’s tired. I’ve never experienced her like this before. Not once since I met her has she been like this.
I looked over at Yongguk who looked back at me with the same questioning look. Within the span of the hour she had gone out something happened, something that hasn’t happened before. Something none of us have ever seen her go through. Just what happened?
“I’m going to talk with Ashiya, start without us.” I told the others as I went towards the office.
I knocked on the door softly before pushing it open. Ashiya was seated behind her desk as she stared down at the wood. “Hey, what’s up?” I asked taking a seat across from her.
She looked up at me, “Do you ever think of your past Himchan? Remember all the good times, all the bad times? Remember things you wish you still had?”
I shook my head, “Never. I haven’t thought much of it since you found me.” I replied. “Something in your past bothering you?”
Her eyes betrayed nothing, “Yeah, something from my past is causing me some problems and I don’t know how to deal with it. I’ve never had to deal with something like this before.”
“We all have our own ways to cope, you’ll get past this. Nothing has ever stopped you before, don’t let your past get mixed up in your present.” I advised.
She smiled, “I’m not telling you my past Himchan. The past is the past so let’s keep it that way.” I laughed dryly; I knew that better than anyone. “Let’s all just go home, it’s been a long day.”
“Go on ahead. We’re going to finish the food you bought and tie up everything we were doing then head home for the night.” I told her as we left the office.
I watched her leave as I sat down with the guys. I shook my head when the cast curious looks my way, Daehyun just look puzzled but no one commented. Ashiya’s past is something we know very little about, but like she said the past is the past and should be left alone.
I know that quite well.
“Mind if I leave now?” I spoke up after filling myself with food.
“Watch yourself.” Yongguk said in parting. “We’ll finish up what needs to be done.”
I nodded, “Thanks.”
I didn’t look back or respond any longer as I left the place to caught up in my thoughts. I walked the deserted streets towards my home in silence. I tilted my head to look up at the dark sky and let a soft chuckle escape my lips. It was well into the early morning and I was only now walking home.
I wonder what my parents will say this time? Within the past year and a half they have started to stop reprimanding me every time I came home so late. I don’t plan to change my habits now, and they’ve begun to realize that. But I wasn’t always like this; I wasn’t always worrying my parents on whether or not I would show up that night or not.
