Your breath catches in the frigid air. You stop in your tracks as you gaze at the building in front of you. Feelings of anger and anxiety lump in your heart and throat. You swore you would never set foot in this place again. Yet, here you are. It's been years since you entered the building...   ****   November 6, 2005 (2005.11.06)   You hurry through the crowded, unfamiliar halls of SBS, excusing yourself as you brush past people. Technically, you have no right to be back here, but you don't care. There's something you just have to do. You continue making your way through the studio, hoping you will see them. You recognize the back of someone's head about ten feet ahead of you.   "Donghae-ah!" you cry out, excitedly.   The nineteen year old (20 in Korean years) turns around. "Jaehwa-ah! You made it!"   "Of course I made it! I wouldn't miss this for the world," you smile up at him. "It's exciting that you all can finally debut." You reach up to move a blond lock from his face.    "Where is everyone else?" You ask.   "In the dressing room. I'm heading over there myself. Want to come?"   You give him a confused look. "To the dressing room? Uh..."   He chuckles. "Don't worry. Everyone's ready. We're going to be on soon..." A look of worry clouds his face as he says the latter part.   You give him a pat on the shoulder. "Hey, you guys are going to do just fine. Come on. I want to see the others." You both head to the dressing room.    Donghae opens the door, holding it open for you. You step into the room, which is filled with excitement and a bit of tension as the other eleven members get last minute touch-ups or fidget nervously with their clothes or their hands.    Hyukjae is practicing some of the dance moves while Hankyung keeps glancing at him with an odd look. You know there's a lot of competition between all the members since some of them may "graduate" from the group sooner than others. Frankly, you don't like the idea, because you've gotten to know all these guys and you think they would be successful all together. You can't even recall how many times you spoke to your father about that... Oh, well! At least, they get to debut.   Heechul is the first to notice your presence. "Jaehwa-ah, have you come to gaze at my handsomeness and charisma?" You laugh as you look at his hair.   "Your hair looks better than mine," You scoff. "Although, it always does." You gesture to the baseball cap on your head, turned to the side.    "I know I'm beautiful," Heechul says with a grin.   "That wasn't a compliment," you respond with a smirk.   "Hey!" He cries angrily. "You know, I, Kim Heechul, was born to successfully make women fall in love with me." He gives you a cheeky grin.   You roll your eyes, already knowing what he will say next. "But it's not your fault, Heechul, because your parents made that face."   "Hey!" he responds with a laugh. "That's my line!"   You shake your head. "I know. Anyway, I came in here to say 'break a leg' to all of you."   "Then say it already!" Heechul says.   You roll your eyes and then give him a thumbs up. "Break a leg, out there!" He gives you a grin and then you turn to the next person. "Donghee-ssi!" you say, giving the cuddly twenty year old (21 in Korean) a hug. "Break a leg!"   "Thanks, but remember, my stage name is Shindong," he replies, returning the hug.   "Aish!" It's going to be hard to remember," you respond. "I already forgot Jungsu and Hyukjae's stage names."   "You didn't forget mine, did you?" you hear a voice behind you say. You turn around to face Jongwoon.   "Of course not, Yesung," you reply, emphasizing the stage name. "You're the one with the beautiful, art-like voice." You grin.    "Thanks, Jaehwa-ah!" says the twenty-one year old.    One of the runners comes into the dressing room. "You're on in twenty minutes, Super Junior 05!"    You give Jongwoon a smile. "Break a leg! I wish all of you the best out there!" You turn, leaving the dressing room as they all begin to gather to practice some vocal warm-ups before they go on stage. You wish you could have spoken with all of them, but there just is not enough time.   You make your way to the auditorium. You scan the aisles, looking for your umma's face. You spot her sitting a few rows away, an empty seat next to her. You make your way to her. "Excuse me. Excuse me," you say, making your way past the people already sitting. You sit down in the seat next to her with a sigh.   "Did you get to see all of your friends?" your umma asks.   "Not all of them, but I did get to talk to Donghae, Heechul, Donghee, and Jongwoon. I just wish I could have wished the rest luck as well."   "You can congratulate them afterwards," she responds.   "True," you reply. You begin fidgeting with your hands.   "Nervous?" your mom asks.   "Yeah," you sigh. "I hope people like them. They've been practicing so hard. They really deserve this." You take a look at the stage, your mind wandering. Your friends will be up there in just a few minutes, making their debut. Then in just a few more weeks...   Your mother echoes your thoughts. "You'll be up there soon," she says, grasping your hand in hers.   "I hope we'll be ready," you reply, referring to your group. "We've been practicing so much, but I'm not sure if we'll be ready in time."   "Don't worry," your umma replies with a reassuring smile. "You will be. I mean you practice until late almost every night." You are grateful for your mother's reassurance, but you cannot help the feeling of doubt that is creeping into your heart.   The lights flicker, warning the audience that the performance is about to start. A few people rush to get to their seats. The lights in the auditorium dim as the stage lights come up.
