XVII Someday Part II

The Happy Ending

"Haru~yah! Someone's at the door!" Tablo exclaimed as the doorbell of their apartment's front door rang. As soon as he heard his appa, Haru immediately ran to the front door to welcome the guests she's been expecting all week. She was followed by her appa to get the door while her omma was in the kitchen busily preparing food.

"Haru~yah!" Dara gushed as soon as Haru opened the door. Haru ran to her and she readily caught the little girl in her outstretched arms, carrying her in the process.

"Auntie Dara!" Haru happily exclaimed. She, however, instantly hid her face on Dara's shoulders when she saw who was standing behind Dara.

"Haru, annyeong." Jiyong said, poking Haru's head with his fingers. He was holding 2 paper bags on his other hand.

"Yo, wassup man!" Tablo welcomed Jiyong with a backslap. "So glad you decided to accompany Dara."

"If it's an opportunity to watch over cute Haru over here, I wouldn't want to miss it," he said while softly Haru's head. This made Haru cling harder to Dara which in turn made Dara giggle.

Tablo lead them inside where Hyejung greeted them. After their formal greetings and how-are-yous, Hyejung went back to the kitchen while Dara, Jiyong, and Tablo settled down the couch to chat. Haru sat on Dara's lap, but was still clinging to her since she sat next to Jiyong. While the three were chatting, Jiyong would glance at Haru every now and then, and every time Haru sees him looking at her she hides her face.

After a while, Hyejung told Dara everything she needed to know (where the dishes were, how to use the dishwasher, how to use the microwave, etc.) then she and Tablo headed out.

"Be a good girl, okay?" Hyejung said as she kissed Haru goodbye, the little girl still clinging to Dara.  Tablo kissed her goodbye as well and then wished the two good luck for their alone time with the cute little girl.

After her parents left, Haru immediately rushed to her room and brought out toys. At first, she was only playing with Dara and would face away from Jiyong whenever he tried to talk or play with her. After a while, Haru overcame her shyness towards him and started playing with the two of them. The living room of the Lee's were filled with laughter as the three continued to play.

Soon it was time for lunch, so Dara stood up and left the two to play alone so she can prepare their lunch. She followed what Hyejung told her, reheated the food on the stove, scooped rice on rice bowls, set the table, and when everything was set went to call Jiyong and Haru.

When she took a peek in the living room where the two were, she stopped in her tracks and just admired the scene happening in front of her: Haru and Jiyong were immersed in their own little world. She always knew he adored this little girl, bur seeing them playing together, all smiles and laughter, really makes her think how great a father Jiyong would be when the time comes. She also hopes with all her heart that he gets to be a father to her daughters and sons.

As much as she didn't want to ruin their fun, she called out to them saying lunch is already prepared. Haru didn't want to go at first but Jiyong convinced her that they would continue playing after they ate lunch.

"Promise?" Haru said, raising her pinky finger towards him.

"Promise." Jiyong said, linking his pinky finger with hers. This made Dara giggle soft enough for the two to not hear.

They then proceeded to seat on the dining table and have lunch. Like Hyejung told Dara, Haru likes to watch cartoons on her tablet when she eats so as to make her stay seated. She warned Dara that when she gets too immersed in watching, she's gonna have to feed her. By the time that happened, Dara tried to feed her but she refused to eat unless Jiyong fed her and so he did. Again, she was amazed by how much Jiyong fitted in the "father" role. She couldn't help but smile while watching the two just doing what they do.

After lunch, Haru dragged Jiyong back to the living room to continue where they left off, and Dara proceeded with cleaning up the table and washing the dishes. The afternoon passed by like that, Jiyong and Haru playing, Dara joining in on them every once in a while until the two enter their own little world again. By 4PM, Haru fell asleep. Jiyong tucked her in bed and went back to the living room to see Dara already cleaning up the two's mess.

"Do I have something to be worried about?" Dara said jokingly as Jiyong helped her clean up the living room.

"She's such an adorable kid. I can't believe she's already playing with me."

"I know! I was surprised as well. I was already trying to figure out how I was gonna spend the whole day until tomorrow juggling Haru, the housework, and you." She said, laughing.

"Well, I hate to disappoint you, but look like you're just gonna have to worry about the housework for now." He retorted back, making Dara slap her jokingly on the arm.

"I'm sure I'm still Haru's favorite at the end of the day. Kids like their moms better than their dads."

"I don't think so. Their dads treat them like princesses. Moms just nag all the time."

"Even if moms nag, the kids still can't live without them."

"I beg to disagree. You'll see, our kids will live even when you aren't at home for a couple of days."

"Our kids, huh? If they're our kids, I'm sure that won't be true."

"Oh, you'll see." He smirked at her as he carried all the toys back to Haru's playroom.

"You're really taking this starting-a-family seriously lately, huh?" Dara said loudly so Jiyong would hear even if he was inside Haru's playroom.

"But of course," he said as he appeared at the doorstep. "You're not getting any younger, are you?" Jiyong smirked at Dara while she glared jokingly at her. She then settled down the sofa and he sat next to her. He held her hand and they just looked at each other for a while.

"Do you want to live in an apartment like this or do you want to live in a house with a garden?" Jiyong said, breaking the silence but not the eye contact.

"I think you know the answer to that question." Dara said in reply.

"But of course you want to live in a house with a garden." He said, caressing her hands with his fingers.

"You think we're gonna be great parents?"

"Oh, I think you're gonna be a great mother, that's for sure."

"I don't know."

"Of course you are," he said, sitting closer to her. "I've seen you a lot with kids, especially with Haru, and today? I was actually pretending a while ago that this was our own little family."

Dara smiled at him tenderly. "Me too."

"So yes, I know that you are gonna be a great mother."

"Thank you." She said, leaning her head on his shoulder. "You're also gonna be a great father, you know."

"Oh come on."

"Yes, you are!" She said, straightening up to look him in the eye. "I've also watched you with kids, you know. The way you played with Haru today, that's exactly how I see Tablo oppa playing with her. Besides the fact that she actually likes you a lot, I think she actually liked you as a substitute father." She told him with pride.

They smiled widely at each other for a while.

"Substitute father and mother, not bad." Jiyong said, finally trapping Dara in a really tight hug. Just as they were getting in the mood, Jiyong's phone rang. He wasn't supposed to pick it up but when he saw that it was his manager calling, he picked it up right away. Apparently, he and the other Big Bang members are being called in to the office for an emergency meeting.

"It's okay, Haru and I won't be going anywhere anyway." Dara reaffirmed him as he was thinking about not going.

"Are you sure? I can just tell them I already have plans."

"Don't be silly, you're the leader. Of course you need to be there. We'll be just fine."

"Alright, alright. I'm gonna come back as soon as I can."

"No problem." She said, hugging him with a huge smile.

He laughed. "So is this you telling me not to go?"

"Don't be silly!" She said, pushing him away. "Get your off of here before the guys start bombarding the two of us with calls."

"Okay, okay. And don't you go off using words like while I'm gone! What kind of substitute mother are you?" They both laughed.

"I'll be back as soon as I can," he said as he kissed her goodbye.

"You better," she said as he sends her off.

"This actually feels like me leaving home for work, doesn't it?"

"You want a family that much?"

"Maybe." he laughed. "Bye!"

"Bye!" She said, waving off after him then closing the door. With Jiyong gone and Haru asleep, she couldn't think of anything else to do so she just lied beside Haru and soon enough, she also fell asleep with happy thoughts of their someday in mind.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

It was already 11PM but Jiyong still hasn't come back. She texted him a couple of times, but she got no replies. She thought maybe they were meeting about something serious so she stopped texting after a few. After waking up that afternoon, Haru kept looking for Jiyong but she said he was doing something really important so he couldn't be back until later. The little girl was sad for a while and the rest of the afternoon was gloomy until before dinner time when Hyejung and Tablo video-called to check on them. This lifted Haru's mood and after dinner, she was back to playful Haru.

This didn't stop her from looking for Jiyong. Although she didn;t go back to being gloomy, she kept asking for him every once in a while until, maybe, she got tired of asking and just played with Dara. By 10PM, Haru was all cleaned up and ready for bed. Until before she fell asleep, she looked for Jiyong but he still wasn't there. Eventually, she fell asleep, and Dara cleaned up the apartment. At 11PM, she was all but convinced that he wouldn't be back anytime soon. She tried calling him one more time but when he still didn't answer, she just let it go and watched TV until she fell asleep on the sofa.

She didn't know how long she's been asleep on the sofa when she woke up in darkness with only a dim light coming from the television switched on a random shopping channel. She immediately opened the light and turned off the television. It was already 2AM then. She checked the bedroom to see Haru still sleeping soundly. Still no sign of Jiyong. She checked her phone but no messages from him were left. She tried calling his number, but it was out of reach. She though he probably ran out of battery. As much as she was worried, she couldn't do anything so she just went inside the bedroom. She tucked Haru inside the blanket that she obviously kicked around in her sleep, and settled beside her. She couldn't sleep for a while, thinking about Jiyong, but soon enough she found herself in a slumber as deep as the little girl's beside her.

---------------------------------------------

Dara woke up by 6:30AM. Beside her, Haru was still sleeping soundly. She looked around, but there was still no sign of Jiyong. She immediately checked her phone, but also no messages were left from him. She was starting to get worried now. She was already planning how she would bring Haru to the company when the little girl wakes up to check on Jiyong, heading to the bathroom, when a sleeping figure on the sofa caught her attention. For sure, it was Jiyong.

She was suddenly angry. She didn't know when he got there and he didn't even answer any of her text messages and phone calls. She approached him and was about to smack his chest when she saw his face. He was sleeping but the tiredness is still very much visible. Whatever happened before he got there must have really been a big thing. As much as she wanted to stay angry at him for not responding to her, she couldn't help but sympathize to whatever he's going through. She's gonna have to ask him soon what happened but for now, she'll let him rest.

Standing up, she headed to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast. While doing so, she couldn't help but feel a certain heaviness, like something big is about to happen soon. She has been feeling that for a while now, but today, after she saw Jiyong's tired face, she couldn't help but feel like it really is going to happen. She just hopes that whatever it is, it doesn't jeopardize the someday she and Jiyong has been eyeing, especially not when Jiyong seemed to be so excited for it to come true.
