Kai walked into the class and threw his backpack carelessly on his desk in the back of the room. He sat down on his chair and rested his legs on the desktop. He looked out the window and chewed his gum. He was known as the bad boy of the class, and most people preferred to stay away from him.

Just then, a few girls walked into the class together. They laughed and chattered before going to their separate seats. Kai looked up just then. His eyes remained locked on one girl who sat near the front of the class. She was known for being first place out of all the people in her grade. She was smart, nice, and pretty, and a lot of guys really liked her.

And he was one of them.

He didn't know why he would like a girl that was more on the nicer side. I mean, he was the class' bad boy! It really didn't make sense, but he found himself unable to stop liking her. So here he was, staring at her from the back of the class. But there was one reason why he did like her.

In the beginning of the school year, Kai was walking down the hallways with his usual lazy strides. He would roll his eyes whenever he passed by a group of gossiping girls or a group of loud guys. Everyone seemed excited for the new school year, except him. He went to his locker and got out his books with an annoyed sigh. At least his closest hyung, Kyungsoo was here at school. Or else there would be no reason for him to come to this wretched place.

"Hi, I'm Park Heejin. I'm a second year. What grade are you in?" a cheerful girl said.

Kai looked around only to find that there wasn't anyone relatively close to them. He turned and looked back at her. "Me?"

Heejin nodded. "Yes, you! The guy who has a locker besides me!"

Confused, Kai didn't know what to do. This girl didn't seem annoying like those gossipy girls, yet being nice to her was totally unlike him. "Kai. Second year," he stated emotionlessly as he fixed his gaze on the inside of his locker.

"Oh! You might be in my class. Well, see you then, locker buddy!" Heejin walked away to her friends, and Kai noticed how she practically skipped as she walked.

She's the first person to actually be nice to me, other than Kyungsoo Hyung, he thought. He then let out a scoff and rolled his eyes. Let's see how long she'll continue being nice to me. She's probably like every other girl. With that thought, he went off to find his hyung.

However, contradicting his predictions, Heejin remained nice to Kai. She would always make sure to greet him, even if he didn't care to glance over at her. He noticed her efforts to start a conversation with him, and over the year he found himself speaking a little bit more than he did before. Eventually, he started getting attracted to her. He found himself admiring the way she's always so cheerful, kind, and (he had to admit) pretty.

Throughout the boring class, he continued to stare at her directions. The teacher could care less that he wasn't paying attention, because she gave up on him a long time ago. As long as he was passing, which he was, she was satisfied.

Once class ended, there was a period called Study Hall, where they were to do their homework from the classes they had so far. It was also a time for students to get some
