"Why did you choose me?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, there were other guys who liked you—tall, good looking guys. It wasn't exactly reassuring."

"I guess so...?"

"You could've easily fallen for someone else. Someone better than me." he continued droning on, a slight tremor in his tone.

I fought against an urge to whack him in the head, was he actually feeling insecure?

"You literally tower over me, and you say they were tall."

"They were good looking too." he muttered back in argument.

"It isn't like you aren't." I shot back as a childish grin graced his features.

"They were..." his eyes scanned the room for ideas, finally landing on a book "smarter than me."

I pondered for a moment, tapping my fingers on the table.

"Hmm. You have a point there."

"Hey!" his mouth was agape with surprise.

"You said it yourself," I teased.

"But honestly... You could've. So, why me?"

"I could've, but I didn't."

I looked him square in the face, a smile spreading onto my lips.

"The answer is really simple, actually."

"It is? What?"

"Because, no one else made my heart beat like you did."

His cheeks turned a pretty shade of crimson, all the way up to the tips of his ears. A silly grin was present on his lips, as he pulled me into his warm embrace, finally reassured.
