Cemetery Traveler

Horrifyingly SHINee: A Collection

Jinki’s parents always told him not to walk through a cemetery at night. They said that the spirits roamed and ghostly hands reached out for members of the living in a bid to find someone to carry them home.

Jinki didn’t believe the tales his parents told, always believing them to be tales of warning because of thugs that lurked in the dark shadows waiting to cause trouble.

So one night, when he was walking with a group of friends, he failed to heed his mother’s worried warnings.

“Jinki, come on. Taemin is really drunk and I really need to get him home.” Minho said, carrying their younger friend on his back.

They’d all had a few drinks at a party and were making their way home. Taemin had obviously had too much, his system not able to handle the same amount of alcohol as heavier Jinki, taller Minho, muscle bound Jonghyun and even slim but able to really pack-it-in Kibum.

“Its only an extra 10 minutes to go around.” Jinki said, even in his hazy state ever the worrier.

“Yeah and 10 minutes can mean a lot when Taemin’s about to puke down my back.” Minho grumbled, shifting the younger in his arms and wincing as he let out a groan.

“Don’t lie, you just want to get him home so you can take advantage of his drunken state.” Kibum said, ending his statement with a little drunken giggle.

Taemin hiccuped.

“Yeah, I want to get with that.” Minho said dryly as Jonghyun was the first to hop the fence.

“You know you want this.” Taemin slurred drunkenly as he was passed over the fence to Jonghyun’s waiting arms.

Minho quickly followed, long legs making short work of the distance. He held out a hand for Key who clambered over next.

Although still against the idea, Jinki found himself hoisting up and over the fence too.

Adjusting Taemin and watching Key move to clingy fearfully onto Jonghyun’s arm, they set off.

The tombstones sent creepy shadows across the moonlit ground. Jinki shivered as he swore he caught glimpses of silvery shadows moving in his peripheral vision.

They were almost to the other side when Jinki was stopped in his tracks.

It felt like there was a heavy weight around his ankle, something holding him down, keeping him in place.

His friends turned around when they noticed he was no longer keeping pace with them.

“Jinki?” Key called, eyes widening as he turned around.

“I’m stuck.” He pouted tugging his leg, turning around to see what he was caught on.

There was nothing there.

Key screamed.

Minho nearly dropped Taemin as they all turned to run. Jinki was left behind as he watched them  kicking up dirt in mad bursts as they slipped and rushed out of the cemetery.

Tears flooded his eyes and he shook in panic as he tugged on his leg, praying that he would be able to soon move.

It felt like an eternity before he could move, but must have only been minutes, and he took the same path his friends had taken.

Ripping his pants as he cleared the fence, Jinki stubbled just out of sight of the cemetery when his friends reappeared.

Jonghyun grabbed his arm and dragged him away, apologizing for leaving him behind.

They hadn’t realized that he couldn’t move.

“Did you, did you see that?” Key panted after they were safely locked in Taemin and Minho’s house.

“See what?” Jinki asked, “What was it?” His voice went higher in his panic.

“There was a woman.” Key said, nodding as if confirming to himself what he had saw.

“Holding onto your ankle.” Minho added as he set down a wobbly Taemin.

“A spirit.” The intoxicated boy spoke. “I could see through her.”

Jinki shuddered. “Why didn’t I see her?”

His friends shrugged, they couldn’t explain why he hadn’t seen what they had. The woman with the black hair and soulless eyes.

She had held him back as his friends ran away, she’d scared them into leaving, keeping the oldest with her.

Why they didn’t know, or really even want to know.

To afraid to sleep, the five boys huddled in the safety of the bright kitchen lights, clutching cups of hot tea and coffee.

When dawn broke, the sun casting its bright glow over the darkness, Jinki was finally settled enough to go home.

While he couldn’t forget about his terrorizing run through the cemetery, after a couple weeks he had calmed down enough to believe everything was just his inebriated imagination.

Until one night nearly a month after their late night adventure.

Suddenly things started getting weird.

It started with little things, things moved, mysterious noises, nothing major.

Until the day he was wiping fog from his bathroom mirror.

Standing behind him was a woman with long dark hair, in a black dress with what he could only describe as soulless eyes.

He screamed, whirling around only to find no one there. Running from the house, only a towel around his waist, Jinki went to Kibum, who thankfully only lived two doors down.

“I think she followed you home.” Kibum whispered as he reluctantly let his friend inside his home.

Jinki swallowed hard, unable to meet Kibum’s eyes as the younger had them trained on something behind him. “Why do you say that?”

“Because she’s standing right behind you.”

A big thanks once again to RaichucLove for this prompt!

And this is why cemeteries creep me out. I love walking through them, but only in the day.

How you guys feel about cemeteries? Anyone else creeped out by them?

Chapter 2: oh. Oh thanks. I should've known not to read this at night, but I didn't think I would get this scared. I guess I'm easy to get scared or somethin' but the hair on the back of my neck is standin' up, and I feel like shuddering. Maybe it's because the thought of someone in my window always made me scared, too. I would never look at night, even when I was a kid. :(

Chapter 32: Its good but I really dont feel the satisfaction of reading a horror..... in the end there must be at least one twist or a gruesome death so that it is a horror story.... anyways nice update... why dont you try one with a clown?? As to me, I love clowns in the day but that srsly doesnt apply to me for night.... clowns are wicked at night! Imagine when at midnight, you hear a knock and open to see a plastic clown grinning widely at you!! Will you take it in? But your pic did make me jump in horror!! Are you striving to give me a cardiac arrest at this young age? ?
